Carpe Diem Restaurant & Caterers
Since opening in 1989, Carpe Diem has been a pioneer in Charlotte's fine dining scene. Despite moving twice due to development, it has remained one of the top 10 restaurants in Charlotte.
Great service and great food.
The evening was absolutely perfect until the staff began breaking-down, moving tables and cleaning up around us. 9:30 PM. The restaurant is open until 10 PM.
One of our favorite restaurants in Charlotte. Great food, especially the sides that accompany the entrees. Wonderful for special occasions.
Nothing special to say fair all together
Celebrating the sale of my house
Fantastic service, from greeting at the door and checking my coat to extra sorbet for bacon that was a little too spicy to thank you when I left. Food was good not great. Salmon had too much of a fishy smell and taste and the menu is too limited for me.
Waitress (Hope) was attentive but did not interrupt too often. Food was great - truly fine dining.
I went for a date with my wife for her birthday and we absolutely loved it
Loved it! Our favorite restaurant in Charlotte. Finally got to take the in-laws and they were amazed!
My party of 9 came here for the NYE three course dinner and everyone left impressed by the food and super satisfied! There were around six appetizers and six entrees to choose from, which you hardly find on a pre-fix menu. The duck, veal, and steak that most people in the party ordered were cooked to perfection and paired with very complimentary flavors, and the scallops were seared wonderfully. The cheesecake was also a great hit!
While the restaurant was packed, service was as timely as it could be and our waiter was great. It was also so fun that they had party hats and crowns on a table up for grabs for all their guests dining that evening — it made dinner super fun!
The only downside was that we were seated 30 minutes after our reservation (and we had gotten there 15 min ahead of time for drinks) — that was a real bummer and caused us to miss out on part of the rest of our post-dinner evening. Luckily there was a couch/lounge area open big enough for our party to relax at before dinner.
Ambiance was great. Waiter Brad was excellent, but the food was one of the worst I have ate. The Lobster Bisque soup was not hot and it was the worse I have ever had in this city. The size of the filet was very adequate, but the sauce that was on top of it was awlful. The Broccoli rob was horrible. The scallop potato’s were good but there was so little of them on the plate, u could barely taste them! Wine was very good but overall we were very unimpressed. We might try it one more time to get our pick off of a normal menu, but I sure wouldn’t rush back to try anything. I’m so sorry to have to say this, but I’m being truthful.
Nice restaurant with good service. Unremarkable wine selection - may want to consider some Santa Barbara area and more than one Paso Robles area wines. We were seated near a table of loud, inebriated folks. I know it's difficult for the restaurant staff, but getting a rowdy table to calm down (to be clear - halting yelling and loud hysterical laughing) is important for other patrons.
It’s always an amazing experience at Carpe Diem ! We will be back soon
Consistently great food and service!
It was great!
Great food !!
Carpe Diem is one of the outstanding institutions in the City. It is our go-to restaurant for any time dining as well as special occasions. The architectural detail in the bar is jaw dropping and so are the cocktails.
Michael is a very attentive server as are all the wait staff. Ivan in the bar makes mighty fine drinks. As a native Charlottean, I can tell you CD is one of our treasures.
I wanted a relatively quiet place to take another couple and found Carpe Diem on the list of top 50 restaurants in Charlotte. We went early and the whole experience was very pleasant, in addition to the food. Our waiter was very friendly and answered questions with honesty. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a high end restaurant experience that is also down to earth. Also Christmas decorations were simple and tasteful.
We had early reservations before a show. We were seated in a little private alcove which was very nice. Our server, Camile, was excellent. She was friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. Dinner was great. I had the daily special which was swordfish and it was delicious. Just a little spicy but excellent. Diane had mushroom bolognese and it was delicious. Our server was very attentive and did a marvelous job. Everything was great and we had a wonderful time.
Food was great, drinks were made well. Can’t go wrong here.
Food was good but the service left much to be imagined. There were several times throughout our meal where my husband and I were without water despite someone filling up the water glasses of the table next to us. When I’m paying the price point of this restaurant, I expect much better service.
Additionally, it was loud and full of 6-10 top tables. My husband and I were one of two, two-top tables in the entire restaurant. It wasn’t exactly a great vibe to celebrate an anniversary.
This was by far the best food and service I have ever had.
Came in for my anniversary and we had the best wine and appetizers and I ordered an entree that was probably a great dish, however the texture of duck just isnt for me! I hated to even tell them this but they had no problem taking it back and getting me something I would enjoy and even helped me select something that i would enjoy more.
I had the chicken and it was AMAZING and my husband has nothing but amazing things to say about the scallops.
I wish I had our servers name because she was awesome!
This is an amazing restaurant.
Carpe Diem is a really fine restaurant and a treasure in Charlotte. It's beautiful, the food is wonderful, and the service is impeccable. Also, it has coat/hat check, a feature not always available hereabouts.
Great time at Carpe Diem. Slightly expensive but good food quality. Nice atmosphere. I would probably return for special occasions.
Loved everything about my experience except that my steak was slightly over cooked. Love the ambiance, location of the restaurant, menu, cocktails, and service. Will definitely be coming back!!
One of the best restaurants in CLT!! Beautiful venue and outstanding dishes . . . A real treat!!
Great service and very attentive!
Try the bar if you can’t get a reservation - same menu!!
The food and service was exceptional! We would return if in Charlotte again.
We’ve been coming for years and are never disappointed.
A great place for comfort food! Great place to have a date and quiet conversation!
I adore Carpe Diem for special occasions, whether for birthdays, anniversaries, business, etc. The food is always incredible, the service is present but not overbearing, the ambiance is quiet and pretty.
Great food wine and atmosphere. I will efinitely be back in the near future. Cant believe I've missed out on this place all this time.
Food fabulous. Extremely loud.
We love the decor at Carpe Diem, it is formal yet welcoming and comfortably refined. All of our dishes were outstanding including the Grain Bowl which is a very substantial and flavorful vegetarian option that even non-vegetarians would like.
Our waiter was professional and also friendly and helpful.
Very nice celebration of our daughters birthday !
The service and staff were attentive, and the meal was excellent.
We traveled over 45 minutes for this experience, and it was well worth it.
We all plan to return, in the future.
We enjoy celebrating our anniversaries here! Lovey place and great service and food and drinks!
Wonderful service! Excellent cuisine. Never disappoints
Service and food was outstanding!
Carpe Diem never fails to be delicious. The menu is not lengthy, but has more than enough to please everyone. Vegetarian or pescetarian options are plenty. The ambiance is always lovely, and the service is exceptional. Wonderful spot all around!
Always a special treat
