Carpe Diem Restaurant & Caterers
Since opening in 1989, Carpe Diem has been a pioneer in Charlotte's fine dining scene. Despite moving twice due to development, it has remained one of the top 10 restaurants in Charlotte.
Fried Chicken is Amazing
Everything about the place was first rate except the parking! Only one handicaped parking in the back!
Good meal and the service was excellent
Buttermilk chicken is outstanding.
Always the best. I ate every delicious morsel of the buttermilk fried chicken. When our waiter recognized that the noise was too loud (a large party near us), he moved us to a quiet alcove. I've never been disappointed (either business or personal) at Carpe Diem.
First let me say this about this place. The food was OUTSTANDING, the service was EXCELLENT, so why the rating that I gave it? The place is really bad on ambience. It's an old restaurant that needs to be remodeled. That's the primary reason for my rating. Outside of that you'll enjoy the food and service but the place is in dire need of remodeling and if that did that then this place would be on my list of places I'd highly recommend.
Saturday we had another excellent dinner at Carpe Diem with tasty food and wine, good service, and a delightful atmosphere. I had the special salad with a mint dressing followed by bass with a sweet potato puree and sautéed mushrooms. My wife's salmon in a Mediterranean sauce was tasty, although a few more artichokes would have helped. Dessert was their usual, excellent creme brûlée. We thoroughly enjoy Carpe Diem and continue to return regularly.
Food was absolutely terrible!!! Must have been an off night in the kitchen as nothing we had was even remotely good. Service was excellent.
The staff is almost as good as the food! Enjoyed a wonderful meal with excellent low key service.
Our table had three regular menu entrees: duck, shrimp & grits, and scallops and all were wonderful. Our waitress was attentive, knowledgeable about food and drink, and made informed recommendations.
A little pricey
Went for the first time in years and loved it. Service is still excellent as well as the food. Offers us a complementary glass of champagne for our anniversary. Also surprised us with a cozy booth with curtains, and confetti sprinkled on table. How thoughtful! Huge variety on the menu. I had snapper which was very fresh with interesting spicy whipped sweet potatoes. Hubby had a pork shank that fell off the bone, so juicy and perfectly cooked. Came with a spicy beer mustard and spaetzle: yum! We’ll definitely be back to try more!
Food, service, and ambience outstanding. Recommend fired oysters and fired chicken, but everything was tasty.
I ordered the special rabbit pot pie forsomething on the order of $30, was disappointed when it was served in an aluminum tin with smear of mashed potatoes. Could’ve been a Swanson’s pot pie.....
We have been to Carpe Diem several time and each time we were not disappointed. The service staff is courteous, food is delicious.
The thing I like the most, it’s not an overcrowded menu.
They took care of our needs as my husband was in a cast and wheelchair. Always a delight to dine at this excellent restaurant that has been a part of our city dining experience for years.
I’ve been going to Carpe Diem for years in all three locations. The ambience, service and food are ALWAYS exceptional!
Superb salads and entrees. Service by Michael was perfect. Attentive and responsive but not excessively and most personable. Our seating in corner as requested making for some level of intimacy. Price was appropriate. Would be very difficult to surpass our experience on this special occasion.
Still my favorite restaurant in Charlotte. It never disappoints
Went for Valentine’s day and had a pleasant experience. For $55/person, it was very worth it to each get an appetizer, entree and dessert. I regret not getting the chicken as I tried some else’s and it lived up to the hype.
Great experience. Our first time there and we loved it
We selected Carpe Diem for our Valentine Anniversary based on previous reviews. It is one of the most romantic spots in Charlotte in our opinion. Could not recommend it more highly!
Staff was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly and polite. Food and drink were excellent as usual. My lobster bisque and duck duo were some of the best I’ve ever had. Sampled my wife’s salmon and I agreed with her that it was one of the tastiest treatments we’ve experienced. My wife had the cheesecake and loved it. I had the red velvet pound cake which was moist and flavorful.
A wonderful Charlotte restaurant with a diverse menu with many outstanding options.
Family and friends went for a special birthday dinner. The service was outstanding (thanks Brian!) and my brother, the birthday guy, had a great time.
This was my first time eating here, and as someone who travels a lot and dines out 3-4 times a week, I would highly recommend this place to everyone! The service was excellent and the food was to die for!
Excellent good. Fine bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape. Excellent service.
We celebrated my daughters Birthday and had a very good time.
Excellent food and service. Perfect for business.
One of best restaurants in Charlotte!
Wanted to check out this Charlotte staple during restaurant week. We’ll definitely be back again for a nice dinner. *fried chicken was AMAZING!*
We had 7 people in our party. Our dinners were excellent and service was great!
Excellent as always.
Our first experience at Carpe Diem did not disappoint! Hope provided great service and the food was quite delicious!
I realize the restaurant could do nothing about this, but my
only complaint would be a VERY loud customer that I could hear her every word two tables away. The teacher in me wanted to tell her she needed to use her inside voice! Also, she interrupted our server as she was getting ready to serve us! I just chalk it up to there are obnoxious people most everywhere!
We went during restaurant week which makes it a little more affordable, but it was lovely. Very nice place, great service. The fried chicken was amazing! Really good warm goat cheese salad too. Had a very nice evening.
Gracious service, excellent food as always. This was restaurant week but the ambience was no different than always.
A great, cozy place with excellent food and even better service. They really make you feel welcome. Will definitely go back!
Carpe Diem is my favorite restaurant in Charlotte. It never fells me! The food is creative & delicious. The service and ambiance are outstanding. You can get a first class meal in a relaxing causal setting. Dressing up is definitely not required, though you certainly can if you want to. Carpe Diem can’t be beat in my opinion!
Amazing, quaint and intimate!!!! The atmosphere was great and the food was decadent. Honestly one of the best Birthday meals that I have ever experienced. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
Restaurant Week menu had great variety and everything tasted good and service was good too.
