Birthday and first trip to Napa
We would go back here again in a second. Easily the best meal we had in Napa. Our waiter, the underwaiter, manager, and bar tender were knowledgeable, fun, and attentive.
madeline is amazing! she was so personable and the epitome of great customer service- other places could learn a thing or two from her.
Excellent food and service. Definitely will go back.
Always impressed with the menu offerings at Carpe Diem. Great service and ambiance.
Never posted a review in my life of anything. The worst service I have ever experienced. Absolutely horrible evening. Just unreal
Perfect date night spot. Fantastic staff. Very accommodating and polite. Thank you for great service.
We started with the house-made cherry sour beer, and it was perfection in a glass: deep cherry notes without being overpowering and a smooth finish. My friends had the gin cocktail, which they loved, then we ordered the harissa fries and mac & cheese - so good! Love the atmosphere, and our server Brooke was on point. We can't wait to come back!
Great food, great service
Great meal- first time there. It was recommended at on of our wine tastings from Rick at Alpha-Omega. Wonderful server Isabella- wonderful scallops and risotto - also has the butternut squash risotto. Topped it of with the Trix dessert. We’ll be back
Stopped here for dinner before a show at Uptown Theater. Waited in bar area for the rest of our party for 4. Service was friendly, prompt. Cocktails very good. When our party arrived, we were promptly seated. Our waitress was very friendly and spent time with the table explaining some dishes. 3 of us went for the prix fixe menu of 3 courses for $36. Everything was fresh and delicious, and an outstanding value. Would come here again on a visit to Napa.
Everything was amazing! From the fresh food to the great service!! It was our first trip to Napa and so glad we found this gem to enjoy!!!
We did Happy Hour at Carpe Diem. It never dissappoints! Ordered the wild mushroom flatbread with truffle oil, the house salad, the special shrimp soft tacos of the day and an order of harissa fries. Delicious and such a bargain with the Happy Hour discounts.
Cuisine was great, service was exemplary. However, we were charged for each refill of our lemonade (5x) and Arnold Palmer (3x) and the menu does not detail that refills are not free. That one aspect really irritated me and my friend and took away greatly from what would have been a very nice evening. To top it off, the glasses were thin in diameter and did not provide very much of both drinks. Your excellent cuisine and excellent service was marred greatly by this.
Very loud..service was chaotic..server brought us empty plates, set them out and then came back, collected them, and took them to another table...yuck! Food was good..value was o.k. Service was crazy..so many attendants running around yet nothing was in order and we would wait and wait after ordering beverages...odd..manager was running around serving and looked rushed. We've been to their happy hour and that is good..first time for dinner..won't do it again. Brought friends and were a bit embarrassed...but we laughed about it.
Wonderful food, drinks and service. First time visiting and we will be back!
Great salad but downhill from there. Shortribs were poorly seasoned and just not very tasty. Carrot cake for desert was disappointing - soggy and rather bland - served with some kind of ice cream or gelato but that had no distinctive flavor. All in all wonderful service but probably would not go again for the food.
Service wasn’t great; room was cold. Didn’t think restaurant week value was there.
We came to Napa for a vacation and wanted to try some of the local cuisine. Carpe Diem Wine Bar was recommended. We are so happy we made a reservation - that is a must. The small quaint restaurant was packed. It was restaurant week so we decided to do the pre-fix menu and were happy we did. We got the Raymond 2014 Cabernet and it went well with the entire meal. My husband had the onion soup - described it as a little sweet and finished every bite. I had the salad which was so rich and filling. For the entree my husband had the ostrich burger and I had the halibut. Everything was served with finesse. The service was outstanding. For dessert my husband went for the Twix served with the ice cream and I tried the chocolate dessert. It’s the only thing that was just fair. Overall it was an outstanding evening.
Nice wine bar with fun list of wines and beers. Food very good and during the week you get three course dinner for $35!! Not very busy during the winter weeks but have been there when packed on weekends. Service good and very friendly.
Kitchen was slammed. Service was very sporadic...and they ran out of dessert (disappointed esp for birthday girl) and did not say they were out of anything when we ordered. No compensation offered.
My Halibut was dry but tye short rib my honey got was excellent!!! Both the arugula salad and butternut squash balls delish ... and dessert was yummmmO i had the Twix ice cream and my sweetie had the chocolate pudding... overall a return to spot.
The $35 Pre-Fix 3 Course Dinner was they best I have had! So many choices for each course was a welcome change but made it hard to decide since it all sounded so good. I had the duck mac&cheese, scallops and Mexican chocolate pudding - delicious and filling. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone local or visitor!
We had a great evening. Wonderful dinner, great service, fabulous food
Very delicious!! Would definitely go back! They have an incredible happy hour menu. We had nearly everything on it and all was scrumptious.
Excellent restaurant. Every dish is delicious. I started out with a squash soup, which was heavenly. I had steak tartare, which was perfectly seasoned. Others at our table had a variety of other dishes, all of which were wonderful. Good wine list. Highly recommend.
Always a great spot for dinner. Good selection of casual foods
Delicious food. Mushroom flatbread with duck egg rich and indulgent. Ostrich burger outstanding. "Best thing I've eaten all year".
Little quiet on the night we ate. Will come back.
The ostrich burger was amazing, and the truffle fries were a perfect addition.
When service is poor, it really takes away from your restaurant experience. We were seated promptly, waited for menus, waited too long to order drinks, waited even longer for only one drink to come....they were out of the other. You can see where our evening was going, which took me by surprise as this restaurant had good ratings on TripAdvisor
Great food and great service. Honest recommendations on items of interest based upon what we were in the mood for.
We returned after a great experience several years ago. This visit was disappointing. Food flavor was mixed. Soup shooters were good as were the corn risotto balls. Fish tacos were bland and boring. Flatbread was just OK. Truffle fries were good. Homemade mozzarella was just OK. When bill arrived, charged double for tip, when pointed out, the server claimed it was right, then when challenged, said he couldn't make changes, was manager who assigned tip. Eventually was resolved, but only after challenging twice. Will definitely not return. So many other good options.
We have always loved the food here in the past. Everything we ordered this time was extremely bland. We ordered off the Happy Hour Menu and all 3 items were lacking flavor.
We were really excited to try Carpe Diem after the raving reviews, but the food was lacking in flavor and the service was underwhelming and slow. I would not recommend.
the shrimp and grits are absolutely delicious and "right", coming from a southern native. Their bartender is from NOLA and knows their southern drinks. Live it up.
After looking at the ratings this place got, the pictures, and the menu we were so looking forward to appetizers for dinner. We got the popcorn that looked nothing like the pictures; the burrata with tomato/tapenade that was cold, super salty, yet tasteless; and the mushroom flatbread that was just Ok. Service was mediocre at best. Even though the waitress was nice and very friendly, it seems like she was waiting on many tables far away from where we were so we did not see here very often and was difficult to even get refills on water. The place looked nothing like the upscale photos on yelp. Very disappointing, I would not recommend at all.
Fresh food and efficient service. The menu always changes so it's nice to stop in during a different season when they switch it up with what's fresh. We always get the burrata and each time they pair it with a different "topping" (this time it was heirloom tomatoes). The mushroom flatbread was great and our guys enjoyed the ostrich burger (I loved the fries that came with it). If we had room, I'm sure we would have ordered the Twix dessert.
Corn soup shots and risotto balls were to-die-for. Our waitress was great, too. The only downside was the table location. Asked to be seated at another table, but told no. That table stayed vacant throughout our whole meal.
A locals favorite and always is delicious. Small bites are full of some much flavor. Highly recommended. Try the Buoncristiani Triad Blanc white wine blend on by the glass. Pairs extremely well with the menu!
Dissappointig. Food was sub par and service was slow
