Carpe Diem Napa
Carpe Diem offers a sophisticated, yet, casual dining experience in the heart of downtown Napa. Our welcoming, enthusiastic staff and ever-changing menu bring uniqueness to the table. Our wines by the glass and family share-plate style menu will entice you to try a variety of items, such as our famous Ostrich burger or Seasonal Flatbreads. Come “Seize the Day” at Carpe Diem. No matter your style, you’ll fall in love with our seasonal ingredients that we have searched near and far to find and our wine, beer and hand-crafted cocktail menu is sure to please any palate.
We are delighted to introduce our new cocktail lounge as an additional dining area. When making reservations, please note your preference for lounge or main dining room. Thank you and we look forward to serving you soon!
Went for Valentine's day, had a reservation but was sat in the farthest back corner, probably the worst table in the restaurant since most are walking by to go to the bathroom. That is my only complaint as the food was amazing and the service was consistent and met all our needs. The atmosphere was pleasant but I wouldn't say romantic. I'll go back to try their regular menu and to explore more wines.
Great wine selection. The food we had was excellent. It was a little tricky because we were handed a 3 course menu and led to believe that this was the only option for the evening. 3 courses for $80 each. That said, salad, ravioli and port house were all great! Smaller portions than the price justified. Overall, good experience.
The food was good but the service was HORRIBLE. We had reservations at 7:30 and were seated promptly but it took 50 minutes before we were served our drinks. Then another 10 minuted before our food arrived. Hopefully you don't arrive hungry or thirsty or you will be out of luck. Would NOT recommend this restaurant to any of my friends.
Dinner was really nice, our server very responsive. We brought wine since their list is severely lacking - $20 each for the first 2 bottles, $50 each thereafter.....steep.
Food was great but service was so/so. They had a large group in the back so we got ignored a bit.
Everything was delicious! The ravioli was so fresh and we really enjoyed the shortrib entree. We will definitely be coming back.
Decided to have an early dinner during Restaurant Week and we were not disappointed. The diver scallops on a bed of risotto were wonderful! My husband devoured the huge, boneless short rib entree. The paired wines were well matched. Service was very attentive. Great experience overall!
Was a favorite but service this time was extremely poor. It was an hour and a half before we got our dinner. Food was not up to usual standard and the wait staff was not very knowledgeable. Will not be going back any time soon.
Food prep and serving size very good. Short rib outstanding
They ran out of promised dessert.
Noise level high, tables too close,
Wait staff had big party in another room and worked really hard to keep everyone including the large group happy.
Been meaning to try this restaurant for a long time - managed to get a reservation. Excellent dinner. Short rib - melt in the mouth. Scallops on delicious risotto. Fine wine list with many unusual small winery offerings. The kitchen got backed up due to a busy night with private dining event Without any complaining on our part the waitstaff brought complimentary desserts with apologies for the delay in bringing us our main corses. A local favorite with good reason.
Best place in Napa!
Horrible horrible service.
Carpe Diem is our “go-to” place in downtown Napa. Always great food and service.
Brussels sprouts way over cooked and greasy. Terrible bread putting; boring, overdressed salad
staff was outstanding. food was good amd atmosphere nice
Everything about this establishment was amazing. The food was exquisite and a nice change of pace from the moral grub. The service was TOP NOTCH - Anastasia was fantastic! Definitely recommend Carpe Diem to anyone!
My husband and I, plus another couple, came here on New Year's Eve for their six-course menu and it was SPECTACULAR. Each course was original, so much so that I don't believe any ingredients were repeated, and the wine pairings were spot-on. I mean, I absolutely abhor chardonnay and the chef was able to pair it with the food in a way that turned it into something quite tasty. There were oysters with a grapefruit mignonette, ahi tartare, truffled ravioli, Moroccan lamb, ribeye and bread pudding. I just about lost my damn mind it was so good!
We've been to Carpe Diem many times, and this was our second time for New Year's Eve. We loved it so much we vowed to make it our 'thing' (in addition to the many more times we'll return).
NYE prefixes menu was extremely poor. Disappointed regular menu was not available.
Smaller menu, so each dish is done to perfection. The charcuterie and cheese selection is a must. You'll feel like you know the whole staff by the end of the meal, due to the smaller size of the restaurant.
Unfortunately they were under staffed. We waited at least 30 minutes before they took our order. Three people in our group of six ordered the halibut and it was extremely over cooked. The seafood pasta, ravioli and mushroom flatbread were good. The service the whole evening was terrible! The food arrived one hour after we arrived. Water was scarce and even getting our check was a challenge.
Good staff, good food, good wine list.
Not exciting or different.
A group of us went to Carpe Diem for dinner before a show at the Uptown Theater. We shared a flatbread and Cheese & Charcuterie selections. Tasty treats before our main course. I enjoyed the short rib for my entre and my wife got the Ravioli. Great presentation and delicious. The only downside was the coffee after dinner was terrible, our server took it off the bill.
I have never had a bad meal here, they always have interesting menu options, local and seasonal foods.
Took my bestie to dinner for her birthday. We were sat on the table right behind hostess stand. It was loud with very little ambiance. We could hear our neighbors conversations better than our own. Foie gras was exceptional. The cheese course also bears mentioning, loved the Mt Tam. We did send back an entree which they remade but still wasn’t great.
First time visit to this restaurant. Service, knowledge and food were very good. My pasta was a little on the done side but nothing to make an issue of. Overall we would definitely go again.
Nice little place with appetizer type entrees. The grilled octopus was a standout. We weren’t crazy about the atmosphere, so we switched to the bar.
Food was fine, good but nothing really special. We had terrible service.
We chose this restaurant because of the name, as Carpe Diem is my life motto. Seeing the reviews of the Happy Hour, we decided to arrive at 4 and try a lot of the Happy Hour Menu. It did not disappoint us! Each choice was absolutely delicious and we filled up ordering about 5 of the choices. We especially loved the risotto rice balls! The cheese platter was great for sharing, and our drinks were also wonderful. Service was attentive too. A great find, very happy we Carpe Diem'ed!
The food was great Halibut, harissa fries (too many!) steak, creamed sweet corn soup with basil oil - could go on!
The highlight was the host who was so knowledgeable about his wines, helpful and enthusiastic without being poncy.
Def recommend.
Favorite dishes were the very savory and perfectly cooked beef short ribs with garlic mashed, although others raved about the quail, roast rack of lamb, and seared divers scallops. Generous portions, so possible to split and share and taste through the menu. Saturday night was full, but not uncomfortably so. Good cooking and good value for the high quality.
Delicious food and wine. Great service.
The cheese and charcuterie selection is yummy and well priced. We ordered the red velvet tastings and all of the reds were very good!
My server forgot to put my appetizer tacos in, but he promptly offered to comp. them when I inquired.
I ordered the diver scallops and risotto and it was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend ordered the short rib and side of quack and cheese - he said it was really good.
I would absolutely come back and refer a friend.
Carpe Diem offered a great dining experience while we were visiting Napa. We had reservations for 8PM but arrived about half an hour earlier and just hung around the bar for a bit, trying some of the excellent wines available. When we were seated, our waitress told us about the specials, which sounded amazing but my mind was already set on ordering the ostrich burger. I am glad I ordered it! It was absolutely the best burger I have ever tried, and the truffle fries were delicious. My wife wasn't as hungry and ordered the seasonal corn soup, and it was also excellent! I think she ordered something else, but it has been over a week since we were there and I forgot what it was. Overall the food was great and so was the service. I would highly recommend Carpe Diem for a nice night out.
The short ribs and Brussels were greasy and the potatoes were sticky like glue
Made reservations here tonight on a whim and we were all so glad we did. The food was delicious and the service was excellent . I would recommend it to any of my friends who come to visit Napa.
Friends getting together to celebrate new home purchased in the vicinity. The waitress was so amazing w/ recommendations . My daughter wanted a “spicy” red wine and was pleased with/ our waitresses recommendation. Our friend had had gone wine tasting earlier without eating enough and was not feeling her best - and that lovely waitress (it kills me to have forgotten her name), but she brought her a non alcoholic fresh fruit + etc to help her feel better.
Loved it - An awesome experience!
Our server Anastasia was just awesome. So friendly & perky..a can do attitude . The halibut was super yummy
Best place in downtown Napa!
Anastasia was one of the best servers I’ve had in the valley, and our whole table works in the industry. We were those people and the last table in the restaurant but you’d never know. We were never rushed, and her demeanor and level of service never changed. I highly recommend the charcuterie, tomato and burrata salad and the porter house. This place rocks and the service was excellent. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
The best dinner we had at Napa!! Everything was perfectly delicious! Congrats!!
One of the best spots in Napa! Great staff/service, amazing food, creative menu.
