We wanted to eat an early dinner. The happy hour menu was perfect.
The setting is intimate and nice for a date or friend gathering. The food was delicious but the way in which the server presented the food way somewhat misleading but the food itself was a true culinary delight. Overall, it was a fun and satisfying experience.
Anastasia was awesome and the happy hour menu was such a treat!! Everything I tried was incredible, including the Red Velvet flight. Highly recommend.
Out of appetizers ordered and we had a 6:30 reservation. Food was very average overall.
Extremely enjoyable experience. Our food was outstanding as was our server, Genaro. Will definitely be back in 2020
It was 7 pm on a Saturday and the restaurant was half full, and they ran out of their two most popular dishes, squid ink pasta and hand made ravioli. Really? That early on a popular night and they didn't have two of their most popular dishes? I ordered the scallop risotto instead and it was so bland. It lacked flavor. They must have ran out of seasoning as well. Also ordered the dungeness crab ricotta stuffed fried squash blossoms and charred octopus. The octopus was good. Squash blossoms were okay. After one blossom, I removed the second blossom from its fried cocoon and ate the tiny crab filling inside. The fried shell got too heavy for me and there was hardly any crab. Our server was nice, but once she was tapped to handle the large bridal party in the private room next door we did not see her again, nor did anyone come by to fill in for her. We sat there and waited a long time for our check and water refills. They can do a better job having additional help if the server for our table has to handle a party of 20+ in the room across the hall. Won't be back and won't recommend.
Great atmostphere, great service and the food was phenomenal. (Definitely try the ostridge burger carpe diem.) We'll be back!
Hi GourmetJayHawk, thank you for the review. We hope to see you back again soon!
Food and wait staff were great
Hi, Thanks so much for the review. We hope to see you back again soon.
We always have a great meal here. ALL the dishes are worth a try, but we are fond of the Carpe Salad and the Short Rib. Great mixology and creative wine list. Jose who manages is awesome,
Hi Passthewine, thank you for taking the time to provide your review! We hope to see you back again soon!
Great food with served by people who care. We had pastas (ravioli and one other), fried calamari, steak (it was a special), heirloom tomato salad, cheese plate, and homemade twix with gelato for desert. Everything was prepared perfectly, and slightly modified per our requests. Server kept checking on our table to ensure we were satisfied. The restaurant is small enough that we could actually talk across our 4 top and hear each other! Great experience.
The calamari was very greasy and poured into a greasy bowl with a mayonnaise dip. The short ribs were okay, but the carrots in the sauce were burned. The truffle fries also had a greasy dip, which didn't go with the fries. However, the squash soup was excellent as were the scallops. I can't imagine this restaurant will survive much longer unless they make some major changes in the food.
We have not been to Carpe Diem in two years. We had excellent service and a great waiter. The menu had many fabulous choices. Each of the 4 of us ordered a different entree. The calamari as an appetizer was too greasy and "browned too dark". The main entrees were all tasty, but too heavy on the butter and oil for my taste. We did not have dessert.
Food was terrible. $175.00 and we literally ate 2 bites. So disappointing. They used to have the best food and amazing wine list but not anymore. Wine list was limited and nothing interesting. Short ribs were mushy fat and not much else
Hello there, José here, the GM for Carpe Diem. I am terribly sorry to hear your experience was of such sub-par standards. There are no excuses for the experience that you had, and we take full responsibility. As a gesture of professional hospitality, I would personally like to invite you to come back to Carpe Diem, and give us a chance to right our wrong. I have sent you a private message as to how to proceed. I look forward to your response. Respectfully submitted, José
Calamares was chewy and halibut was bland! So disappointed! What a waste of time and money but Service was good. Definitely not coming back.
Very nice meal. Waiter helped us decide on amount of food to order. Didn't like one of our drinks and he took it back and got me something different. Quality of all food was good, and service very efficient.
Have eaten here several times. Ambiance is nice and staff is very friendly. Food overall is generally pretty good. Price/value I might say is not the highest for what you get versus what you pay. They have a nice happy hour and good apps so that is usually when I'll go.
Server was really sweet but the place seemed understaffed. Food was slow coming from the kitchen but tasted great. Good wine list and cocktails. Overall we enjoyed it but service time could be an issue if you are in a hurry.
There was great music while we were there. My daughter ordered ostrich burger with fries and ahe liked it. I ordered the ravioli and it wasn’t very good. I think it was stuffed with spinach. But tasted very bland (almost like grass) no other real spices or flavor. I would not recommend. Dessert wasn’t bad but nothing spectacular.
Good food with excellent service. Good value on wine. Drunken goat cheese a starter with Twix for dessert good combination
One of our favorite Napa restaurants in the past. Loved the small plate menu. Disappointed to find that has changed to full enter selections. We left without ordering. Server was rude.
The service was excellent, they do not have vegetarian dishes but the chef very kindly prepared a vegetable risotto for me and it was delicious. Good atmosphere, they do not have a good variety of wines which is surprising to be located in Napa. But in general I loved the restaurant.
Carpet Diem is back. After a rough spot of a confusing downsizing of the menu and substandard service, the place is back on top with friendly, helpful waitstaff and the old favorites like the ostrich burgers in tip-top form.
The food just wasn’t good. Really disappointed to bring my friends here.
Good downtown location. Not a large menu, but enough to find something you would like.
We stopped in for a quick, light bite and just split a few appetizers. The service was friendly and timely and the food was delicious.
Mother’s Day meal. Loved the ostrich burger with egg.
Food and service were amazing! Atmosphere is missing.
Nice casual atmosphere. Everything we ate was good. Has small cocktail selection and a nice wine selection
Always a great staple. Can’t go wrong
Good food, excellent service, positive experience in all regards.
Great place for a casual dinner. Server was wonderful the octopus appetizer was done very well. Tables are really close together, so we had wonderful conversations with many new friends!
I dined at Carpe Diem on Friday night and had an excellent experience. The food was delicious and the service totally on point. The hostess Wendy seated us at an excellent table with a view and had already set up a high chair for us (based on a request on our reservation)
Our server, Anastasia, was friendly, knowledgeable, and great at anticipating our needs and adjusting the service accordingly. I was there with a couple friends, one with a couple young kids. Anastasia had the kitchen quickly whip up a simple pasta for the kids so that they were taken care of up front. For the adults she picked out an excellent selection of cheeses and charcuterie. This was followed by her recommendation of the tacos and tuna tartare. Truly a professional. Just a wonderful experience. I highly recommend Carpe Diem.
Fabulous place to hang with friends or family! Food is delicious and the drinks are spectacular. Wonderful place for a casual night out or for a special occasion.
I ordered the broiled boneless chicken. it was overcooked. Overall I felt the meal was mediocre.
The food was absolutely amazing and the service matched to a tea. We had a wonderful time here and would for sure come back.
Excellent food and impeccable service, I accidentally knocked over my drink on the table and into one of the dishes, and our server cleaned it up expertly in an instant, replaced my napkin, plate, and asked the chef to remake the dish that was spilled on.
This place is a gem. Our server gave us a small appetizer to enjoy while we waited for our dinners. He must be a mind reader because it was the one I would have ordered if I was going to over indulge.
My husband had the Ostrich burger, which he said was good, he wasn’t crazy about some of the toppings (which was not the fault of the kitchen, just his picky eating). I had the halibut, which was very good. Since we were trying to behave, we did not order dessert, but on the next visit we will definitely try the house made Twix.
Food and wine were really good. Especially wine tasting menu which name is wine flight became my favorite.
Only one thing that should be complained is that the server spilled wine and my clothes got wine. My cloth only got a bit spot, and he apologized me but not really take care the of that, just gave me a manager’s contact.
I prefer to take care of it on the moment I got it, so it was only things that I cannot be satisfied with the restaurant.
Good food with great customer service. More of a friend's hangout than a date night apot
Went for Valentine's day, had a reservation but was sat in the farthest back corner, probably the worst table in the restaurant since most are walking by to go to the bathroom. That is my only complaint as the food was amazing and the service was consistent and met all our needs. The atmosphere was pleasant but I wouldn't say romantic. I'll go back to try their regular menu and to explore more wines.
