Awesome place, and lovely food. The service is top notch.
Great food, service and atmosphere! What more can you ask for!
The space is divided such that the interior walls create a sense of privacy. They also keep sound down . The food is tasty and well presented.
Always a quality and classy dining experience. Never had a bad experience. Great food and service. Great ambiance.
The food and service as always was excellent. They have the best french onion soup in town and the escargot is to die for. Their staff is phenomenal and Scott makes the best cocktails! A fine-dining experience is sure to be had by all who visit!
My wife and I enjoyed our 3rd trip here just as much as the first. Excellent steak and lamb. Cocktails are great. Top notch.
Great evening, dinning room is so Beautiful but the lights need to be lower
Great for a romantic evening. However, Scallops were salty, chicken Marsala was just ok, and drinks were expensive.
Outstanding all around! Great staff, great food!
Place was empty, so hard to judge. Love the decor and ambience. Worth a dinner trial.
Very nice romantic restaurant. Ambiance is excellent. The waitress on 11/17 @ 5:30 PM was delightful.
Our waitress was friendly and very attentive to making recommendations towards good food choices. The food was subpar, considering the cost; the chicken was salty, as was the pasta/sauce. Overall, returning may not be in our future.
Food was bland. I had duck, others had other meats but really they all tasted the same-gray and overcooked
Many times the experience is not as good the next time you visit a place, this is the exception. A friend drove to visit from Kansas, this was the place we wanted to impress her with. She had a wonderful time the whole experience and stated this was the best steak she had ever had.
Shawn was a great guy! Helpful attentive friendly. He was a good source of information. We will be back as the food was amazing!
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary dinner at the carousel 🎠 We made the best decision on drinks and dinner thanks to Scott our waiter. I will definitely let everyone know about the hidden gem in Downtown yakima that hasn’t herd of this fine French restaurant.
The food was excellent. We really enjoyed our time there. We had not seen Shannon Rae (hostess) in several years - she does an excellent job of making you feel welcome .
Classic French restaurants are not exactly easy to find in the Yakima Valley -- this was a find! Good food and a charming setting. Friendly attentive service. A bit pricey but worth it for a special night out. In our case, it was a birthday dinner AND a pre-play meal. The restaurant's early dining hours (4:30 on) and location conveniently close to the Capitol Theatre were definitely advantages! We'll definitely go again.
This is hands down the tastiest food in Yakima. We are so glad we found this place. The oysters were super delish and very fresh. Cheese plate was fantastic. The ambience was comfortable but its hard to pay attention to that once the food atarts showing up. Highly recommend this spot.
Dined here on 20 Sept and had a great experience! My wife and I had several glasses of wine from a varied wine list. She had the Artisan Meat & Cheese Board appetizer and the Braised Short Rib entree. I had a half dozen perfectly shucked and chilled oysters and a veal entree. Each dish was well-prepared, well-presented, and amply-portioned. Impeccable service provided by Sean R.
I can not recommend a restaurant where 3 tables are seated after you and they are served, waited on and our table goes unattended.
1. Out of the first bottle of wine
2. Server snaps cork into 2nd bottle
3. Heavy sediment in the initial pour of the 3rd bottle
4. Twice we were told breadcwas baking - the other tables got bread! We did not.
5. One meal sent back because it was COLD
6. I kept mine and ate the filet which was good. The sauce and mash potatoes were cold.
7. Does French Onion soup have onions? Mine did not.
8. 3 tables seated after us finished their meals and all their tables were cleared and the dining room around us was stripped of table cloths, silverware, etc. They decided to clear it all out and make us look stranded in an empty room. We sat at 6:50pm and if we would have been served - not ignored we wouldn’t have been sitting there as the dining room was closed down!
Our meal was over $200 for 3 people - it might have been more if anyone cared.
Would not recommend. Flavor of food was good.
Sean and his service was over the top. Perfect spot for an anniversary dinner. I think we hit the chef on an off night - over spiced and salted - but that didn't prevent us from a superb evening. No corkage fee for local wines was a big plus.
Had the chicken with a bacon jam. Very good. Domestic wine list isn’t bad but could be deeper, was a little pricey but not atypical of similar restaurants. Service was great and attentive. Would go again.
The menu is well selected many items to choose from. It would best if you had less items on menu and focus on better food preparation as anthenic French food recipes. Food preparation took too long for really not that many people in restaurant. The cocktails and wine was fine .
The service was particularly wonderful. The waiter made it seem as though he was just there for only us, and seemed to know the menu very well. He was able to make recommendations based on deciding between two choices. The movie screen with a "silent" movie was puzzling, we could not understand how that fit into the general ambiance of the dining experience, and found it a bit distracting.
We were more than pleasantly surprised to find such a high-end restaurant downtown Spokane. Great menu with a selection of very well prepared traditional French dishes, along with nice seasonal, American recipes. The wine nicely paired with the food. Result = we will return!
Wow, a great place to go for that special occasion. Excellent food, fantastic service and good ambience.
First time we have been here and it was a great experience. We knew going into it that the place was $$ but the drinks and food were fantastic. We had an early reservation on a Thursday and were the first table there. We'd go again for a special occasion but are moving out of the area.
Carousel presented us with one of our most memorable dining experiences we have had in years. We walked past the small outside eating area, and into the restaurant which in a former life was the opera house. Interesting rooms, eye catching French art work, and neat background music. Our helpful and attentive wait person started us off with well crafted cocktails from top drawer liquors. We then enjoyed our first ever flamed spinach salad - which was exceptional. My entree was pan-seared rabbit in a lush wine sauce that was as well done as any we have ever had in France. She had Coq au Vin, a tender chicken dish prepared in a red wine sauce that she said was to die for. Our only regret was that we were too full to order one of their desserts. It was not cheap, but we thought well worth the price.
Great food. Excellent service. Great menus selection. Comfortable dining atmosphere.
We celebrated our anniversary at Carousel, where we’d been once before with friends. The food was delicious, again, and the service - a bit slow at the beginning - was very friendly and engaging as the evening wore on.
Had a great time and a very good meal. Sean did a great job helping us with wine pairings!
The new ownership hasn't missed a beat. Food and service awesome as always. We ate a fabulous brunch on their patio and enjoyed a beautiful Yakima spring day.
Second visit to Carousel since under new ownership. Great experience both times. Delicious cedar plank salmon and goat cheese cheesecake. Quiet setting which makes for easy conversation among friends. Pleased the restaurant is now on Open Table!
In the USA from Vancouver BC since Dec 23rd and this was the last evening of a 5 day return trip form Tubac AZ. This was the best food of the whole 3 month plus trip and the best pasta I have ever tasted. The mushroom appetizer was also wonderful but the onion soup had too much cheese.
Our server, Liebchen, was the best ever. She was very knowledgeable on menu items, as well as drinks. She was very professional yet friendly and made us feel very comfortable and at home.
Wonderful meal. Great staff
Dined for dinner on 12/23 where the food was excellent and the service was attentive, yet we were the only ones in the dining room.
We like the ambiance, decided to try brunch with our family members who were visiting for Christmas. We had reservation for brunch on 12/27, arriving at 11:00 am. Our waiter was pleasant but the service was slow. It took 15 minutes to get us menus as they were being used at other tables. They had difficulty initially filling 4 cups of coffee, they must have coffee capacity problems handling a brunch crowd. We finally ordered, at which point 3 items on the menu were not available. After a long wait, at 12:20 our waiter finally told us they were plating our food and it should be out shortly. At 12:30 he came back and informed us that the order being plated was not ours, and they were now out of eggs and going to the store, and it would be about another 30 minutes before our order would be ready. They were going to comp our meal since it had taken so long. We elected to leave.
They have a great menu and wine list but the execution is not consistent. They need to improve dramatically.
Sometimes something goes wrong when you go to a restaurant. What counts is how the restaurant responds. We arrived at Carousel and ordered drinks and pate to start. Waiter returns, no pate. OK, on to salads. No onions on salad, please. Salad arrives with onions. No bread on offer. Time to order wine with dinner. Sorry we don't have the wine you want. OK, on to main dishes. My wife loves gnocchi, so is happy to find a dish that features it. Dish arrives with potatoes. We point this out to the waiter who didn't notice the difference. He returns from the kitchen to announce that they're out of gnocchi and besides, no one likes it. My Confit de Canard, a dish that normally falls off the bone, was more like duck jerky. Had to work to separate meat from bone. Time for a bit of desert? Nope, no desert offered, and by this time we were in no mood to ask.
A particularly bad night all around. So what would they do about it? Perhaps a free drink or desert? Maybe offering my wife's misrepresented main dish at a reduced price? An apology from the owner? Nope, none of these. Never even saw the owner in this "small and friendly restaurant".
Even though the waiter knew that we live far from Yakima and only get to town every two years or so, they gave us a $50 gift certificate to their restaurant. You might think this a generous offer, but from our perspective it's like giving nothing because the odds of us remembering to take the certificate with us two or three years from now are zero. Even with a $50 discount, this isn't an experience that I would readily repeat.
When traveling, we always rely on open table. This restaurant was quite disappointing.
