*we are a 21 and over only, sorry no children or infants.
We have a full craft bar. *Happy hour is available in our bar seating only, no reservations for happy hour or brunch needed
The food we had was great and I love the concept! One complaint is that they only served a special limited brunch menu when we came which was indicated no where on the website.
We had a great first time visit to Carnivore. Food and service (Wallace, thank you) were amazing!
The ambiance is great and it's not loud like every other place in Seattle. We had the roast chicken (got the last one!) with was incredible and we will be back soon. Ask for the table by the window. This is a Seattle gem!
Went with my fiancé for our anniversary and we loved it. Amazing food - can’t say enough about how delicious everything was. I would highly recommend and will definitely eat at again.
They mis-represented their meat sources and served undercooked fish. The rabbit was poorly butchered and the presentation was awful. Also, the cocktails were genuinely bad. Nice service, however.
Pretty good, all the meats needed the essential ingredient of salt to make it great. Excellent service, fantastic martinis....
They ran out of a bunch of items and the food was really average. Way overpriced for what you get. Won't be back.
We had a wonderful time. We sat at the chefs table, Gavin was our chef he was very knowledgeable of the menu and happy to answer any questions we had. He was also a pleasure to visit with and made our visit so fun. The food was amazing!! Amy our server was very attentive. It's a place you need to try!
The appetizers were delicious, but small for the price. The 16oz steak was extremely fatty and only about half of it could be eaten. For $50! I couldn’t believe it. Way overpriced for the quality of the meat.
Carnivore is truly a gem! From the gourmet food to the staff, we are always inspired to go back. The ambience is so romantic and relaxing. The food is superb!
Carnivore is a warm little space in Ballard helmed by Chef Michelle Pegues. Michelle and her staff make Paleo food that non-Paleo people like myself will absolutely love. Heaps of creativity backed up by serious culinary skill are at work here. The prices are moderately high, but you are getting high quality organic food that is locally and responsibly sourced. Awesome cocktails and wine selections, as well. Try this place out, you will not be disappointed.
Loved the Paleo concept. The execution not so much. The sides were very good, but aside from the rabbit which was okay, the other meat was awful. Mostly gristle and overcooked - both the bison and the steak tips. I expected much more for what they were charging. Big, expensive disappointment.
Paleo that doesn't leave you wanting for more. Healthy portions, a small yet adequate menu. The service was very attentive and helpful with questions. The ambiance was on the quiet side (Hooray!) and sparkly, which my wife loves. Don't miss the steak and sweet potatoes!
Especially loved the Escargot and the awesome Green Beans!
We had a wonderful meal and experience at Carnivore. We did the chefs tasting menu and highly recommend it. Chef Michelle was friendly, knowledgeable and had a genuine passion for paleo cooking. We can’t wait to return!
Delicious and authentic. We'll be coming back here regularly. Try the drunken mushroom side dish! The elk meatballs were also great.
My friend and I were there for brunch. She ordered grapefruit juice, but she complained the juice had been kept in the refrigerator too long and it had "fridge smell". It was supposed to be freshly squeezed. She had veggies and bacon and I had veggies and eggs. Her bacon was covered in bacon fat that had cooled down into a film on the bacon. She did not like it and got up to get napkins to scrub the fat off the bacon. I ordered my eggs over-medium and I got eggs over-well done. The potatoes in our veggie mix were hard nand underdone. The veggie plates were greasy. Our plates were $16.00 each. Overall, not worth it. I will not return.
Every time I go to Carnivore, I am impressed. They stay true to delivering on their commitment to sustainable, farm-to-table paleo-inspired creations. Always changing with the seasons, their menu continues to evolve making the dining experience always one of a kind. Blending land and sea, Carnivore is a must check out destination.
Steak overly charred, with no real flavor and too much charcoal taste.
Too expensive for what it is
The food was fantastic. However we had a black out and only tryed the appetizers.
Servers instead of waiting for light to come back only hurried out "drink" order and charged us the services before sending us out the door.
The way they send us out was rude. After 5 min out waking to our car the lights went back on.
if they had waited 5 min and maybe let us enjoy the candle light and offer us unly drink menu we would have stayed and of course left a tip.
So much yum and I could eat the WHOLE menu! No picking and choosing for paleo or gluten free options.
Nice restaurant. Get's busy around 6:30pm. Expensive for what you get. Avocado Tartare is a simple dish, and maybe $5 worth of ingredients. Paying for creativity and labor. Could have something more to make it a better value. Duck Confit (duck over sweet potato fries) was just OK. No duck breast pieces in the dish.
Nice atmosphere. Draft near the kitchen.
Enjoyed the cauliflower risotto and almond gelato!
We love this place. The elk and cauliflower risotto was amazing!
Pretty small space with limited seating. Dark inside, candlelit tables for ambience. For having so many steak options on the menu, it was just okay. We ordered it medium and it was definitely cooked on the rare side of medium rare and the flavor was pretty unremarkable. The sides we got were all fine but nothing to write home about: green beans, cauliflower risotto, and zucchini noodle salad. It was $150 for 2 mains and 3 sides no drinks which seems like a lot for a meal we were overall unimpressed by. It was a good option because half of the group was on the Paleo diet so it was nice for them to have so many options but most likely will not return.
Fantastic food. Had dinner with a foodie who likes most places and loves few. She was in love with Carnivore. The food was an incredible adventure in creative artistry. As a gluten-deprived eater I was once again allowed to pick what I wanted from the whole menu and it was a rare and exciting treat. Also there is no refined sugar in the place but don’t let that fool you and SAVE ROOM FOR DESERT.
If you love Paleo you’ll love this place. Great food! Great service! Great chef! ❤️
From the prices on the menu, it was supposed to be an upscale paleo restaurant. They had an open kitchen setting and we could hear everything, including how rude the chef was to wait staff - sarcastic comments. We had the charcuterie, zucchini noodle salad, bison, octopus, and kale salad. The charcuterie and octopus were good, the rest of the dishes were bland. The bison had no flavor, no seasoning or inventive sauce. I asked for horseradish and was given dried horseradish bits that didn't help bring out any flavor. The kale salad was supposed to include roasted vegetables and dates neither of which were in the salad. When the waitress let the chef know, the chef said she had put all the ingredients in and made excuses as to why we didn't taste any. Because the kitchen was open, we heard the whole conversation. The chef was defensive and not customer service oriented about the situation. Our waitress relayed the message that the chef didn't make a mistake, but still took it off our bill. It's a great idea and niche but better skill with seasoning, marinades, flavor enhancements would bring quality up to the price customers are being asked to pay.
Great, friendly, tasty, not noisy
This was possibly one of the best restaurants i have ever had the pleasure of experiencing and I have been lucky enough to eat at great restaurants around the world. The executive chef, staff, and bartender are incredibly warm, know their food, and are masterful at their craft. We were a party of four and started with an heirloom tomato and peach salad - HEAVEN. We also were feeling adventurous and ordered the chef's board (e.g. tasting menu) and WOW did it delight! The duck fat haricot verts, the carrots, sweet potatoes, and the mushrooms were literally perfect. Tasty and done superbly. But the meat, omg the meat. We enjoyed antelope, quail, beef, and lamb - all of it was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. I will digress for a moment though on the quail. The best ever, almost a spiritual experience.
I skipped the dessert because I'm doing a Whole 30, but my companions absolutely indulged and the only thing I can share about how amazing the desserts were (the WHOLE meal actually) was that one of my fellow diners exclaimed "I could EASILY eat paleo if this is what it's like!"".
I will be back, as often as I can convince friends and family to come with me!
Amazing food over all with terrific service but put that in the context of an organic,
Paleo/Keto friendly restaurant and you've got an amazing place. The Morel mushroom dish was amazing, the heirloom tomatoes made me want about 4 pounds more, and the bricked chicken was delicious but needed some added salt. The only suggestion is marinating the Antelope dish, or pounding it out a bit, as it was a bit tough on the ends. Staff was super attentive and very friendly. Overall amazing dining experienceand would recommend.
Get the steak bites with bone marrow sauce. You’ll be dipping everything else in it too, not just the bites of steak. Overall, a very satisfying meal for two people on a ketogenic diet.
Very limited menu choices. Best dish charcuterie plate not offered. Service was average. Food seemed over priced. Don't think we will go back.
The cocktails were interesting and tasty, the steaks were phenomenal, but the appetizers and sides were lackluster (with the exception of the bison tartare, which is highly recommended!). The decor was...odd. Don't miss the bathrooms!
Love this place. The cauliflower risotto is off the hook!
We just tried this place and loved it! Fantastic food. The duck and pheasant were amazing!!!
The ambiance was great! Drinks was great! The food seemed overpriced for what you received. The food was just okay....wasn't spectacular. I felt I was paying more for 'paleo hoopla' than anything.
Our waiter seems very young and had trouble understanding how to split the bill for our table.
I wouldn't go again.
I really enjoyed the dinner my friends and I shared. We celebrated a birthday for my lady and the food could not have been better. The family style eating was a good way to not waste food and share a good meal. My only criticism is to change the password to their wifi/bluetooth, as it seems that someone from outside was playing very LOUD rock/metal. It would come in at terrible times, and we laughed (but it seems like an issue). Other than that, everything was fantastic!
Excellent paleo restaurant. Take the time to talk to your waiter. Loved that the chef came out to talk to us. They are very purposeful about what they serve and how they present it.
The cauliflower dish was excellent while the beef was tough and the Ling cod was more under cooked pork belly than fish. Overall an average meal which explains why it was so easy to get a reservation.
The cauliflower risotto was sublime, mussels & salmon were good, vegetables cooked perfectly. Service was unfortunately quite poor. We had food allergies and made it very clear: no dairy, no pepper. The waitperson questioned our constraints, and then brought food with pepper. She was unpleasant about it, no apologies, and treated us as if we had been difficult. It made a delicious meal less pleasurable, and left one member of our party worried she might end up with hives for the night.
