Carnivore was closed for remodeling and open table still kept giving us updates about our upcoming reservation that day. What a fiasco on an anniversary dinner date

Service was fantastic and the food was great. I think the only thing negative as it was a little dark inside so it was hard to read the menu.

We went there for my husband’s birthday because he had been craving a steak. We sat down and started looking over the menu, ordered drinks, and had decided what we wanted when the waiter came to take our order. Right before we ordered, the server asked if we had heard what they were out of. We hadn’t, so he told us. They were out of 2/5 large plates, one being the NY strip steak, as well as 1/5 of the small plates. For a restaurant that only has about 15 options between starters, small, and large plates this seemed kind of ridiculous, especially on a Saturday night at 8. We were going to go with the NY strip, so it was unfortunate that they were out. Also, that left the only other steak option the Ribeye for $20 more than the NY strip price. We ended up just getting the small plate Steak Morsels. The food we ended up ordering was good, but nothing mind blowing for the price. Overall, the service was really good and the server was really pleasant, the drinks were great, but the food and experience were disappointing.

Meat was over-cooked even though we ordered medium. The side dish of baked sweet potato was way over priced for the amount you got. The old fashioned was great though, so I would go back to get a drink but I will not be eating.

The atmosphere and service was fine but the food wasn't very good at all. The smoked duck was so tough my friend had to give up eating it. The other three in our group ordered flank steak and it arrived cold (and tough).

Overall it was a great experience. The ribeye, alas, was over done; it was difficult to cut and difficult to chew. Disappointing for a place that is literally named 'Carnivore' and charges premium prices. It was tasty, nevertheless. The sides, however, were superb! I will definitely return.

The first time we went, we loved Carnivore, about a year ago. Most recently, we were embarrassed to have brought friends there. The portions were different, and quality was much worse. The broccoli plate was literally 4 florets of steamed broccoli with some basic splash of sauce on the bottom. Not tasty at all. Our table as well as the table next to us all found the various steak plates (tips, salad, whole steak) to be extremely chewy, tough, and unpleasant to eat. The shrimp dish was just 3 shrimp (grossly overpriced plate) that tasted like popeyes. Overall, we were incredibly disappointed. It was very overpriced, the dishes weren't very tasty, and the quality was even unpleasant to eat. The ambiance is wonderful and our server was great, but would never return for the food.

Food was delicious. Service was a joke. Way too expensive for service and food together. Just because we didn’t drink, the server didn’t pay us any attention. (He had 4 people at the bar and our table. No one else was in the restaurant) The server never cared to ask how our food was after he dropped it off. Nor did he follow up with us at all during our meal. After 15 minutes of waiting after we ate the food (which was delicious) we had to get up to get our check and get his attention. Overall experience was mediocre at best. Would only go there again if the cost of the restaurant went down. Or the service went up!
