The "maître d” was rude and angry that we were 11 minutes late (I believe there is a 15-minute grace period) While the food was delicious, the service was inattentive

My friend and I had fantastic food (even lots of fresh fruit with the French toast offering, excellent juices, and really good coffee… all which I greatly appreciate!), excellent warm and professional service with attention to detailed requests (e.g., I love my Eggs Benedict with the eggs poached hard — and they were!), and an overall great experience at the Carnegie Diner and Cafe. It was just a 20 minute walk from our hotel, and was so good that we had breakfast there on our weekend Sunday morning and again on the following Monday morning! I really wish we’d known about it previously… — ciést la vie! So if you are in or near the theater district at some time in the future, I can very highly recommend this place!

On June 1, I had the fun of meeting two of my former students for dinner with my family while visiting NY. The wait staff was generous and patient as we spent a few of the most memorable hours of our time in the City.
