Carne Italian Chophouse Ratings and Reviews
Pros: Huge protein portions, booths for two were very nice for having a private conversation. Gnocchi was light and tomato/basil sauce was fresh and bright Cons: Appetizers were overpriced, bread was terrible, waiter was overwhelmed and we had to wait until our food was lukewarm before he returned with requested pepper and parm cheese. Being a wine affecenado it was very frustrating to pair our wine with our food choices as there are no vintages listed on the wine menu. Being an upper priced restaurant the lack of vintages is unacceptable.
The waiter was exceptional, service was fantastic! I had the wonderful Chicken Liver appie, Tempura Lobster, shared the Rosemary Garlic Potatoes and Brussel Sprouts My date had the Caesar Salad and Sirloin Steak The bread sticks were unusual and very tasty!
A very enjoyable meal. Service staff was very attentive but not overbearing by any means. Ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara and Gnocchi Tomato Basil. It was well portioned, served quick, and both dishes were excellent. For the quality of food and service, the pricing was reasonable and fair. Highly recommend this place for an evening out.
The ambience of the restaurant was very romantic and peaceful...wonderful after a long work day. The food was fabulous and the service impeccable! Our waiter was very helpful in describing the steak options and in selecting an appropriate and delicious wine for the meal. Overall, we were very pleased with the meal and service and would come back again.
For a steakhouse I was disappointed in the quality of the meat. I had a ribeye. It wasn't as good as many other ribeyes I've had in the past.
The beer menu is very small and very few (2) craft options.
My wife said she enjoyed the tuna.
The beans and gnochi were good!
Service was great.
Value for money not good at all.
My niece is the kind of person who puts everybody in her family ahead of herself and so I wanted her to feel very special for her birthday dinner. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The appetizers were amazing, deliciously complex in taste and aesthetically nuanced in design. In short, they looked and tasted great! The steak was sublime. My niece and I have both visited Japan and have enjoyed Kobe beef. Of course, only beef from Kobe can be called Kobe beef, but we had an unbelievably comparable Canadian stand-in, cooked to perfection. My wine was rich, dark ruby red and full bodied, a perfect complement. The dessert, which we shared, was their special chocolate amaretto cake, moist, rich and luscious. Service was excellent. We were never rushed but also never kept waiting. Our needs and pace were all well-anticipated.
A friend gave us 2 X $100 gift cards. We wanted good steak and this appeared to be the place! The food was great. Had:
1 AAA beef steak
1 Tuna steak
1 order potatoes
1 order mushrooms
1 creme brulle
1 sm glass of wine
But it's the most we've ever spent on a meal for 2. With a tip, we have about $5 bucks left . . . we didn't even order any of the real expensive Wagyu beef.
We were one of five tables in the restaurant. It took almost two hours to get our entrees once we were seated. Appetizers came out in good time. One table was seated nearing 45 minutes after us and served both their appetizers and entrees and almost finished their dinner before we were served ours. We asked for the bill as we were running late for our prior evening plans and it took almost another 20 minutes to get the bill. This was not our first time eating here. The food, when it eventually came was delicious but it was all lost as we had to quickly eat dinner.
On top of the poor service, the overall value for the cost of the meal was subpar.
Can I give 6 stars?
Booked this restaurant through open table for an anniversary dinner. Chef Michael (owner?) came to our table personally to wish us a happy anniversary! Also came back later in the evening to check on everything and thank us for choosing them for our special occasion. Would DEFINITELY return to this excellent restaurant just based on this service level.
Now, the food. I tried the Wagyu beef steak as I've never had it before. I can't describe in words how delicious this was. Outstanding on every level and cooked to perfection (I ordered medium-rare). We had roasted potato and asparagus sides (big enough portions to share). Both were excellent. My wife had tenderloin steak (not Wagyu but an excellent cut regardless) and it was also cooked to perfection.
Our waitress was attentive but not overbearing. We never felt rushed the entire evening. Just all around excellent service.
Again, will DEFINITELY return, and I will make a point to recommend to others looking for an over-the-top steakhouse experience.
Thank you Carne for making our evening that much more special.
