Veal braciole was over cooked and hard to eat or cut. Definitely would not order Veal Again. Eggplant was very good. Crabcake app was one of the best we’ve ever had. Great service.

Always love going to Carmines! The food is delicious and the portion size for the price is such a great value. Service is always friendly too. Like the patio now that’s it’s warmer out. The natural light & food aroma creates a bright and happy atmosphere.

Food is delish and portions are huge. We had leftovers for a few days. Atmosphere is lively and live music was really great. Baked clams and chicken parmesan are a must! Looking forward to going back….one of my favorite places!

The food was phenomenal. The valet and hostess were great! Our waiter was a bit robotic and we felt more like a number. But it’s ok we laughed about it and the food and everyone else made up for it.

Arrived at 5pm. We sat in the patio are. Very nice space. Other customers were being sat around us. We noticed they were getting waters and their orders were being taken. At 5:10pm we asked if we had a waiter. They said he’s on break. But should be over soon. Very strange…. Finally a waiter said let me take your drink orders while he’s on break.

The ambience is great especially since we sat outside on the patio. The service is top notch and Maria was so nice and very attentive. The food is nothing short of excellent. The spicy grilled octopus appetizer was sooo good. Whitefish piccata with fresh spinach was great as was the special lobster ravioli. The sauces are so good. Also, their crusty bread is delicious and pairs great with the Belvedere on the rocks! Awesome lunch.

This was my first experience at Carmines that I was a little disappointed. My disappointment was not with either the food or waiter both were excellent. This was the one thing that took a lot away from the dining experience, which was the lady who was busing the table. I believe she tried to remove my plate at a minimum of 3 times and once for my guest. The final attempt she asked if I wanted a box to go. I had to let her know that I was still trying to enjoy my meal and it definitely made the rest of the meal uncomfortable even though it was just a couple guys talking shop. Infact, after I made it clear that I was not finished she never came back around again for sure to remove my plate, but she never came back to fill my guest's glass of water again. I could not wait to eat at Carmine’s. I have heard over the years that many people have had wonderful experiences with their food. It was Mother’s Day, but when we walked in I expected that there would be people waiting to sit and no open tables. There were plenty of open tables and no one waiting. We were sat outside on the patio which was nice. There were heating lamps and a cozy fireplace to keep it warm, at times too warm. There were kids screaming and running around and the waiter was aloof. If the place was packed I would understand but it wasn’t. It is rare that my husband and I get angry at the experience at a restaurant since Covid due to staffing issues but this was the exception. The prices are high and the food and service were not reflective of those prices. We are happy to pay for excellent food and service but we were disappointed. There are too many great small Italian restaurants in the Chicago-land area and we won’t be making the trip here again anytime soon.

Server was below par of what to expect at those prices. My daughter asks for ginger ale. She brings back seltzer water. Server tells me that it is just flat. We wait 10 min for the ginger ale only for her to tell us that they don not have…. The square noodles specialty was below average. The Mother’s Day “specialty” drink was far from tasty. I could go on. Please reconsider another restaurant in the future

Our meal was amazing; the eggplant salad is a must, and the pasta and Pork Chop Calabrese were fantastic. Most of all our server David was attentive, welcoming and actually spent time at our table having quick conversation. Will return next week!
