Waited for valet out front for a while before finding parking around the corner myself. Hostess is definitely in the wrong line of work with her poor attitude. Our waiter was excellent as usual. Seafood Fettuccine was pretty underwhelming. The caprese salad and penne paste with sausage was excellent. Been going to Carmine's and Rosebud in Little Italy for years this was the most disappointing meal I had. I'm used to a great experience start to finish. Hopefully Rosebud on Taylor St hasn't fallen off.
Service was good. We were cold
Live the restaurant. Great service from Danny!
Waiter was not knowledgeable at all, and rushed and inattentive. He was working the outside back garden section.
We recently dined at Carmine’s for the second time. Once we knew we were to spend some time in Chicago, the first thing I did was book a reservation at the restaurant. We had eaten there only once before, but it was on our list of “do not miss” establishments. The calimari is the best we have ever had, and the version we love has extra spices! It’s almost enough for a whole meal by itself
Always a grea
We try to eat here anytime we are in Chicago. We have not had anything there that is bad. The bone-in-ribeye is excellent. Chicken Parm is the best I’ve eaten and is huge. I’m a big eater and cannot finish it. Salads are huge and fresh. Calamari was good not great, the Italian sausage appetizer is really good. Our server this time was great and we’ve always had good service. If you want a great steak or Pasta dishes this is the place.
Excellent service and great tasting food whether inside or outside the waitstaff made the experience memorable.
We had a lovely night after a matinee show watching Hamilton. We were entertaining our friends from San Diego and we really enjoyed our time.
Absolutely delicious!! Authentic Italian with generous portions for reasonable prices!
Awesome service, amazing food.
Our food was excellent as always. Tried the calamari grilled and that was wonderful!
We had a reso for 9 at 1:15pm. When our entire party arrived at 1:15pm we let the hostess know we were 8 guests and would like to sit asap. She said she would need a minute. 15 minutes later we asked again to sit again and were immediately brought to the table. Later we learned this was due to lack of servers being on to take care of us.
We had called couple weeks prior to be sure they were offering brunch on New Years Day but they sat us with dinner menu's. After sitting for 25 minutes with bread and water (and the drinks from the bar since we had to wait for the table) I asked the hostess, and a lady and gentleman who were also dressed up and at the front desk if we could have a server. She said "sorry, it is the weird time of day where we only have one server" which I thought was an odd thing to say to a 1:15 reservation on a day where most people don't work. After sitting for 33 minutes our server came to greet us and said he thought they would be serving brunch as well and was not sure whey they changed to dinner, and he was surprised also.
We decided to make light of it and stay. The food was great dinner food but since they changed the menu without informing us I could not rate the food well.
The server was nice and we tipped well since it was a holiday but the brunch was VERY SLOW. We waited 15/20 mintues for a drink and waited almost an hour to be able to order our meals. The entire experience was painful reminder of what the hostess explained, that they were understaffed.
We paid the full bill which was well over $550 without any manager or anyone checking in despite us coming up front a couple times. The gold coast offers some really great dining options who are prepared for business and hands on when something goes wrong (which does happen), so I would not recommend Carmine's after this experience.
Cena de fin de año. Muy buena la calidad de los platos. El servicio acorde a un día de mucha demanda pero todo muy bien acorde a las expectativas.
Came here for NYE and absolutely enjoyed myself. The staff was amazing! I am guessing the owner or manager gave me and best friend a table by the window so that we could enjoy the city lights and Chicago culture on Rush St.. From the drinks to the main course, Carmines never disappoint. We didn't plan on staying for the countdown but I'm glad we did. We had a great spot down at the bar and the bartender was just great. Carmines as usual goes over and beyond.
Words cannot express what a great place to visit Carmine's!
Food, service not to mention right at the door valet...
New Years Eve
It was great
Had a great date on NYE, the ambiance was nice and the waiter gave amazing recommendations. The food was absolutely delicious. No complaints!
Dinner and service was great! Paula was awesome, very attentive.
Excelente comida y preparacion.
The best Risotto I’ve ever eat.
Excelent atention and very nice place
Dependable for good quality, attentive service and healthy choices; a great basic tomato sauce that is just pure "red sauce" with no cream; the chef uses just the right amount of spices to add zest to your meal.
Good food and service, terrible table. Got put in the bar, right next to people sitting at bar. Got elbowed the entire meal and had to listen to drunk girls talk about their wine drinking and love of Starbucks. Horrible
Our server was awesome. He really is smooth with the up sell. Every table around us (including ours) had calamari!
3 days after Christmas, impromptu trip to Chicago, couldn't decide steak, pizza, pasta or seafood. They had it all. We went for the pasta and seafood. Salmon was perfect, clams in white sauce we're to die for, arrabiatta perfectly spicey and bolongais just right. Our waiter recommended a wonderful Chianti. The towering burrata was amazing as was the wedding soup and the creme brulee. The price was right and the atmosphere festive.
Fun and lively environment. Friendly service. Great food.
Food was good for sure. The waiter was a tad odd. He did a good job but kept stopping by telling us he had a terrible memory and asked if we could remind him what we ordered.
I go every year for Christmas dinner. I was not impressed with my server. He didn’t write our order down and then comes back ten minutes later to ask us again. Yet, Still manages to get it wrong. Didn’t check in us until we were done with dinner. Food was great as always, but if this was my first time I would certainly not be coming back
Our experience with Carmins's was so enjoyable! The day of Christmas, it was just me with my Mother, so we opted to forego any cooking and go out to dine. Because we were planning this on Christmas Day, and one of us is disabled and uses a scooter, we had been fairly sure our options, if any, would be limited.
We were looking on Open Table, and what a surprise it was to see that Carmine's (just down the street) had three slots available at 7:30, 8:00, and 8:30pm. After a separate search to verify Carmine's ADA accessibility (that info was not listed on its website or Open Table), we immediately booked a table for two at eight o'clock.
We arrived about 10 minutes early for our reservation, but the restaurant appeared a tad chaotic...and FULL, so we resigned ourselves to a bit of a wait, but at 7:57pm, we were being led to our table...straight inside, just beyond a large, decorated Christmas tree. It was suggested that I park my scooter alongside the tree (in this way it didn't block the doorway for patrons coming in or going out of the dining room).
We ordered a glass of the Malbec (delicious), and warm bread was brought to the table. We were given a few minutes to peruse the menu, and our waiter returned to take our orders. I had read many positive reviews about the spaghetti and meatballs, so had my mind pretty much made up, but I asked waiter his preference for the dish with meatballs or the menu's other option, sausages. He immediately responded with, "For the lovely lady, one sausage and one meatball!" My Mother ordered the Routa Bolognese, but mentioned that she would prefer linguine in place of the dish's "wagon wheel" pasta. Her request was met with an immediate, "No problem."
Our food arrived 11 minutes later, it was hot, beautifully plated, and DELICIOUS!
I’ve dined at Carmine’s before, and this was far and away the worst experience I’ve had hear and arguably at any restaurant. The busser spilled on my designer bag that was a wedding gift from my husband. They couldn’t have been less helpful or apologetic. To the point, the table next to us said something to the server, and they checked on us more than anyone else. A manager didn’t even come by to check on us, we laughed saying how they isolated us. And for the first time ever, we skipped dessert. On our way out the GM gave us ‘mistakes happen, and if he could go back in time he would have come to our table to apologize if anyone had told him’. Needless to say we aren’t going back anytime soon.
Excellent service. Very limited vegan options.
Loved it! Very nice and the food was amazing. The server was great and overall great experience
The evening started nicely with the coat check woman apologizing for the wait to check our coats and was very friendly, then it went downhill. We had a reservation and still waited 20 minutes for our table. We then got the worst table in the restaurant as far as I can tell, right next to the kitchen and the bar with servers coming and going non-stop. The entire experience was sub-par.
Outstanding food and wine list. Great staff, very busy but with reservations not a problem.
Lively place. Very busy. Good vibe. Service is friendly. Affordable. Kid friendly. Bar atmosphere separate from family dinning. Food is delicious. Fun spot for family on Christmas evening.
Did NOT like sitting in the bar area...we had kids with us!!! To loud to talk to family at table. Paid a lot of money for a loud dinner!!
The food here was absolutely extraordinary. I had the 8 oz filet with the potatoes - oreganato style and asparagus, and my husband had the lobster ravioli. All dishes came with so much food! Will definitely come back.
My wife and I have been eating at Carmine’s since it opened almost 24 years ago. We used to eat there at least 2-4 times a month but in the last few years their seemingly lost all interest in their local customers as their prices increased dramatically and continue to do so regularly. But with very limited options we ate the on Christmas Day.
Our dining experience was horrendous. We were greeted by our server but then totally ignored. Salvatore’s interest was bigger tables hence bigger tips. After asking for bread twice which is usually brought within minutes I had to get up and ask a “suit” for bread and with indifference we finally had some about 5 minutes later. We then had to flag down Salvatore so that we could order mussels to start our dinner. They came promptly. After we finished the oysters (10minutes) we sat with our used dishes and empty shells totally ignored for 45 minutes. Finally we flagged down another server that we know. She apologized, of course not her doing and from then on things went smoothly. On leaving we asked for the manager and when he spoke to us it was not as a person but “.excuses” as to why we should be understanding about having a planned enjoyable holiday dinner destroyed. The perfect ending to a ruined dinner. Thank you for reading.
