Food excellent, ambiance superb...
Service below average...
Server just disappeared at the end of our dinner...
Another server came and drop the check, even after we told them we were waiting for our dessert...
Bad, bad, bad...
Worst experience ever. Had a 7:30 reservation to celebrate my wife graduating with her doctorate. We arrived on time and were told that they were really behind and couldn’t give a time on how long it would take because “I don’t want to give a time and be wrong”. Fine, not the end of the world, but then we were directed to a bar that would taken a small army to fight to get to the bar. Finally after 30 minutes of standing in a packed bar, we approached the host stand to be told we were next. Given the crowdedness and noise level of the bar, we asked to avoid that area. The hostesses stated that if we didn’t take the next table, she didn’t know how long it would take to get another table. So we were sat in the smallest table in the bar next to the kitchen. After taking a second to decide whether to accept the table or just leave, the host tossed the menu down and walked away before we had even sat down. So begrudgingly, we sat down. I could tell by looking at my wife, nearly in tears due to the ruined night, did not want to stay. We found a manager to inform him of our horrible experience and that we were leaving. Instead of trying to make the horrible experience any what pleasant, he essentially said he had limited seating available due to a private party and that he hoped we’d give the place another chance in the future and immediately walked away. Why? What would possibly make us ever think to come back. Thanks Carmine’s, with all the great places in the city, we know we can cross you off forever and never think of you again.
Great value and very good service staff. The holiday decorations are typically nice. This year, not so much. The entire property could really use an update. Just looking a bit "tired." Nonetheless, we enjoyed it.
Amazing restaurant. A bit loud but that’s part of the schtick.
Was great getting a last minute reservation to meet good friends/family. Yum!
Food was great and the atmosphere was lively and festive!
Fabulous experience at Carmine’s. Our waiter Caesar was top notch. Food was outstanding. Great night out.
Chicago classic! Great service, delicious food with endless pasta and seafood options. Beware of the giant portions, typical of Rosebud restaurants. Been going here for 15 years and Carmine's has never failed me to be an overall wonderful experience.
Nice service people make the difference and our service people were great.
Their is a reason why Carmine’s has been here for 27 years. It delivers. The best Veal Parm in the city. Great professional friendly staff. Manager came by for a visit. I’ll be back!
Amazing food and wine
Disappointing lunch. Being seated in the makeshift dining room in the room used as an outdoor patio under heat lamps was uncomfortable. My kids felt like they were roasting and the temperature wavered between being chilly in some spots and too hot in others.
Food quality was poor. Room was like a loud banquet hall. Servers were nice. Bottle of wine was only good part of the meal.
We sat in the bar the piano music was too much for us. The food reminded me of an Olive Garden, was hoping for something a little higher end for the price.
The service was very good.
Great as always, our go to place for holidays. Extremely busy Saturday night but service was very attentive. Portions are huge, love that I get to have leftovers the next day
Year after year, enjoyed
Too loud with sitting next to live music which was too loud
The food and atmosphere were wonderful
Good. Service was a bit skoe
Food was great! waiter was awesome.
I go to Carmine's every year when in Chicago. One of my favorite places.
Great food, service and menu
Our server, Nick, was the most amazing hospitality professional; he was attentive, engaging and knowledgable. A most enjoyable evening!
Excellent as it has been in the past. Extremely large portions. Quality of food excellent. Because of the size of portions this is not the average cost Italian cuisine. If you know who you are with well enough, sharing plates should be a consideration.
Excellent as always.
First time for sunday brunch , everything was awesome. We will be back.
Our waiter, Fernando, was phenomenal and the food exceeded my expectations.
This was one of the best places that I have ever had dinner at in Chicago! The service was spot on and the food was fantastic. The Burrata Tower was a nice sized app and my dad had the veal parmigiana and he said the only thing better was the veal his mother used to make him.
A true gem in the Gold Coast, solid food and service. We brought our kids and they are always accommodating. We will be back!
Service was very poor. We each had one drink and it 25 minutes before a waiter came back...food was like warm
Great but we were not in the main building and the heat lamps were very hot!
Some of the best, classiest, most accommodating service of any fine dining restaurant I've ever been to. I asked for a table that would accommodate my 88 year old grandparents and their difficulty with hearing and walking, and I also requested a table by the window in honor of their anniversary. I didn't expect them to be able to accommodate all of these requests on a busy Friday night, yet upon arriving and checking in they remembered (and wished) my grandparents a happy anniversary, immediately escorted us to the elevator, and took us right to the most ideal table away from the majority of the noise and right next to the window with the best view in the entire restaurant. Every time we've been here, the willingness and readiness to accommodate my grandparents has been top notch. Oh, and by far the best Italian food in all of Chicago...incredible variety of truly authentic dishes and great waitstaff ready to help you figure out what you would like most. My favorite restaurant in the city and always worth the trip in from the suburbs.
Great Italian food!!
The service was very confusing. We had two waiters who weren’t really communicating- they would come to the table and convey the same information. One was pushy for us to order and other was fine. When we ordered which wasn’t long the food came in less than five minutes. My lasagna was squishy and overcooked. I think the other meals were average.
They sat us by the front window which was very cold and did not make for a pleasant experience. The table rocked and we had to ask twice to have someone fix it. We ordered appetizers and they brought out our salads and appetizers together. Felt very rushed. Nice place and decent food but the service needs a lot of help.
Food was good side dish of meat balls they were hard vesiovio potatoes also were hard. Pasta was excellent service was great.
Great atmosphere, service, heavenly shrimp and other terrific food!! Like area where restaurant is downtown and valet park great even with price!! ENJOYED!!
