pasta never had a problem but chiken steak or fish you take ur chance had chiken parmesan was so rubbery like it was under heat lamp for a wile
Carmine’s is the best!! A true Chicago landmark! It is a must for any occasion!
Always a great time!
Unique restaurant, good food. Service was ok - not what I would expect from a historic Chicago staple of a restaurant. The house music was way too loud. Felt like we were dining in a club atmosphere. It was hard to talk across the table.
Service was great but the food taste was just ok. We were a party of 5 and none of us were wowed by any of the dishes we ordered. I don't think we will be returning.
Great as always! Food was delicious, wine was yummy, service was friendly and timely. We come here every time we are in Chicago and it never disappoints.
Fantastic food, go here you will not be disappointed! The lasagna was fantastic, the chicken Milanese was terrific. Warning, the portions are HUGE, you will have leftovers, but they’re worth it.
Fun atmosphere great food and excellent service!
Eggplant stack was a great appetizer as well as the caprese salad. The lasagna and the salmon were great choices. The chocolate cake was indeed large and delicious.
A wonderful spot in our hood! Food is good and plentiful.
Dining outside in Chicago is one of my favorite things to do. Carmine’s was a wonderful experience - the waiter was so entertaining and just a joy to be around! Great way to celebrate my birthday!
Food is delicious & portions are huge. We loved the Sausage Baked Ziti, Chicken Parmesan, Caprese Salad, and the coconut cake!!
The service here cannot be beat. The staff are so nice, attentive, and professional. The food is amazing as well. Perfect place to carb up before the Chicago Marathon!
My daughter’s birthday. Overall, great food, service, and atmosphere.
Carmines was great! Juan and Fernando showed the best customer service. Thank you so much to the excellent staff! I’ll definitely be going back.
The food and cocktails were as per expectation, the server may have been a little too attentive. It did not subtract from the quality of his service.
Will be back
We love Carmine's. The service is fast and friendly, and the food is delicious. On this occasion, we had eggplant parmesan and green beans, and they were both excellent!
Love this place - food and staff are 5-stars! Cant wait until next time!
Perfect meal, experience was A+
I had Sunday lunch with a couple friends at the outdoor patio which was covered perfectly with an awning considering there was 70% chance of rain. Our service was outstanding— The hostess, the bus staff, the manager, and especially our waitress. I loved the lasagna. Being raised Italian, I am picky. This was an A+. My friend ordered the meatballs and polenta which was delicious. My other friend had the pasta Primavera which was top notch. We brought half of our meals home because of the portion size. The tiramisu and pistachio gelato were the icing on the cake!
I reserved to go here because I had been to the one near Rosemont and they exceeded my expectations. I was really disappointed at the Chicago location. You think for the price they charge the noodles would be hand made. The noodles were undercooked and chewy. We ordered the salad for $15 and there was hardly any dressing just lettuce croutons and Parmesan. Overall disappointing experience and way over priced for what you get.
Great service! The food was outstanding. I had the lasagna and the portion was huge! We ate outside and the ambiance was perfect for dining. Will dine again when in the area.
Sitting outside was a great experience. Food was delicious and generous portions. Next time we will split a salad and split an entree.
Our waiter Daniel was great, attentive without being overbearing.
Venue is always packed so despite mediocre on line reviews we tried it. Had lasagna and it reminded me of frozen grocery store quality or chain restaurant. Not at all the quality of food in Italy. Also had salad which was very good.
Fantastic food and service! Really enjoyed the outside dining experience.
The food and service were fantastic!
Great neighborhood gem... Izzy is the best what a great hostess!
Carmine’s is a Chicago icon. The food is great and you get a lot (too much!) it’s a good idea to think about sharing. Service is prompt, friendly and helpful. We had the best Caesar salad with freshly sliced Parmesan. I had delicious eggplant Parmesan. It is not cheap, but this is Chicago and frankly, two could eat happily one entree. Love it.
Visit to Chicago
We had an awesome meal once again at Carmines!! One of our favorited restaurants in Chicago
6:30 reservation food brought at 8:00 Dover sole 45.00 not boned not one person enjoyed food waiter bought us dessert but had forgotten side dishes that were ordered.
They were busy. Waiter was enthusiastic but we waited far too long between course and drinks and my med rare tomahawk veal chop was almost well done.
normally would have sent it back but we had already waited far too long to get any food.
a $ 78.00 veal chop needs to be cooked right. It wasn't......
would have added dessert but already too tired of waiting and not that much of a sucker for pain after poor service, long wait and overdone meat.
AND we had a birthday noted and not a word.......
probably should have done pasta at an italian place but we had a vegan and pasta was for here.
Take it from a food critic....... never try to order a good steak from a pasta house....
won't go back, too many places that dont overload their staff and remember what great service is. For their prices rosebud should but they do not......
Great atmosphere and outdoor dining area. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was tasty and the presentation was great.
The ambience and setup was nice. There were a lot of bees around the table which made it hard to enjoy the meal (not necessarily the restaurant's fault but something to note). We were eating indoors technically, but the doors/windows were open to the outside. Also, the wait staff was very slow in taking and executing orders. Our drink orders were forgotten at one point, and no one came around to take a food order for at least an hour.
Loved this place, seafood salad was super. Server Rudy was fantastic, attentive and pleasant. Will come back.
Average dining experience. Very loud and we could barely hear our waiter. We started with mussels that were very small indeed. then the Caprese Salad- the tomatoes were green and tough to cut. The entrees with veal were prepared well and tasty. The Seabass was just a little above average on a horribly salty bed of spinach. With so many choices to dine in Chicago I will go somewhere else next time.
Extremely disappointing. First our waiter was kind but clearly waiting tables is not his calling. He was scattered and simply not capable of evening hearing what people were ordering. He messed up our orders as well as the tables around us. We were all talking to each other about how horrible the service was. Forgotten cocktails, cocktails that came wrong. The chicken on one of our salads was rubber and smelled strange. Even the waiter thought it might be spoiled (obviously quality control in the kitchen is non existent). I had the stuffed pepper special. It was special all right. Two long peppers that were half stuffed, under cooked and smothered in sauce. The tomato under the caprese was not even ripe and they included the end which was so under ripe it was green. I’ve eaten here for years. I live in the neighborhood. I’m done. The last three times have been fair at best and this dinner was down right inedible. So disappointing.
I was incredibly disappointed by my experience at Carmine's. I have been there numerous times before and enjoyed my visit, but this last time was AWFUL. First, the host staff didn't follow mask mandates while walking around the restaurant, causing exposure to patrons who were dining maskless because of eating/drinking. Second, while enjoying a multicourse meal, the next course came out before being able to finish the first course. Finally, there tables were shoved in so much, it was as if we were dining with another table plus the serving staff was practically on top of us while serving another table.
