As a New Yorker I’m always on the lookout for an Italian restaurant in Chicago that can measure up to NY Italian food. This place has the best chicken parm I’ve been able to find in a Chicago, the sauce is a little sweet and a little spicy at the same time. However, I think it’s unusual a cheap to expect patrons to pay $5 for a side of pasta. You’re an Italian right reataurant, for $30 chicken parm I EXPECT the pasta to come with my entree.
Very disappointed in the price raise No longer does your dinner come with a side of pasta ;It’s $5.00 extra Very petty Local competition includes soup or salad
Wonderful food and service but I was there with customers and it was too loud to carry effective communication which was unfortunate.
Great food, fun atmosphere and good price. Never disappointed here.
Every time amazing. Great place to enjoy...........
Great food! Lots of birthday parties going on around us which also made service a bit slow.
I visit Carmine’s every time I visit Chicago!
My boyfriend and I had dinner there on Saturday. Food was amazing but our servers table side manner wasn’t great. My boyfriend was in the mood for chicken Parmesan and was told that he couldn’t get chicken Parmesan with noodles. What?? We were shocked that such a simple request couldn’t be accommodated. Our server made no apologies for this and even made it feel like it was an odd request. I ordered the rigatoni vodka and it was to die for. Boyfriends spaghetti was also amazing. Would have been nice to have a better server.
Awesome spot love the food. This is our neighborhood gem. Best oysters in Chicago
I’ll start with the “only” positive and that was my server who was excellent. First , they once again raised their prices which are now far more expensive than any other Italian restaurant in the general area. Besides raising prices they now charge for a small order of pasta that has been at no additional charge since I first ate in Carmine’s 24 years ago. For one glass of white wine, mussel appetizer and one order of veal parmigiana, with tip $89.00. Poor value for the price. I asked to speak to the manager to voice my disappointment as a regular local customer and he was very smug and blamed it on corporate . I will never eat in Carmine’s again. Management was not interested in my feedback and I lost all feelings of being a valued customer.
First time at Carmine’s and it was a great evening. We love Rosebud and Carmine’s is a 5* restaurant.
Our food was exceptional, the service wonderful & friendly and of course the manager, John was delightful.
We’ll make it a regular place to eat for sure. Although it’s a large space - because of the size of the individual rooms, it seemed quite intimate.
Great pasta, bread was so-so, cake very large and delish. Cheapest bottle of wine $52. Average entree price $20+. Outdoor seating is heated.
I only saw the bar area. Very nice bar, food was excellent with huge portions. Plan on taking some home. Waiters were outstanding and very responsive.
These guys consistently do it right. Authentic Italian food you can count on. Highly recommended!

The service and management at this restaurant was great. The food was VERY mediocre. Disappointed by that since it was so well known and reputable!
Wait staff was attentive. One ordered spaghetti and meatballs, an order of risotto and shrimp and an order of ravioli. Food was good. Spaghetti and risotto dishes were generous.
Good service and very good food! Young lady working the check in location was very considerate and recommended the outdoor undercover seating. Well done!
Fair to good food for most part. The eggplant a little oily. Meal was served way too fast. Everything must have been prepared ahead of time. And one guests’ salad never came. We were done in 45 minutes including dessert and drinks. Felt pushed out the door. Would have rather enjoyed a nice meal with friends
Been coming here for 6 years and see no reason to stop. I Loooove this place.
Food was tasty, but charging $120 for the lobster & risotto special (and not mentioning the price) was criminal. We’ve learned our lesson - will be sure to ask in the future, IF we ever return.
Service not as good as it used to be.
Seemed to just be going through the motions.
We had an enjoyable experience at Carmine's. We live in the neighborhood and had never tried it. Now we have another place to walk to since Bistro Zinc has closed.
The location and street seating are nice. The service was adequate. We both had seafood which perhaps wasn’t the best choice. I had risotto and my wife sea bass. My risotto was cold in spots and the seafood was near its shelf life. There are better options
Excellent experience. I already look forward to returning. Amazing server. Delicious food.
I love this place and have been many times. Usually the service is great. This time however, our waiter was not very attentive. Over the course of our meal, the food was delivered by different people, one of them didn’t even look at us, just dropped the plate in front of us and walked away. Everything was delicious and the prices were good.
I have been going to Carmine’s for 15 years; it only gets better! It’s my favorite Italian in Chicago. Can’t wait to go back!
The food was absolutely outstanding. My husband and I frequent Italian restaurants and Carmine's had one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had. Our server was not the greatest - he seemed very busy and like other tables were more important (my husband and I do not drink any sort of alcohol, so perhaps his other tables were drinking wine, etc.) Otherwise, an absolutely wonderful experience.
Our first trip to Chicago to celebrate our anniversary. They treated us amazingly and food was delicious. My husband is a meat eater and I’m a vegetarian. Plenty for both of us
Shine is coming off Carmine’s luster. Once our favorite Chicago restaurant, we’ve been disappointed the last three visits-whether with food or service.
They’ve got to fix something to get back into 4 star territory. For now the prices aren’t worth the 3-star experience.
Had people in from overseas and from around the country, it’s always been my go to place, but tonight our bread that was brought to our table had mold inside and outside.
We always love this place, we visit every time we are in Chicago. The waiter was attentive, made great menu suggestions and the bar staff was as well. Would recommend anything w their homemade marinara sauce as well as the pork chops!
Service was good, timely, our waiter did forget my soup, but I was not charged for it. Complimentary limoncello for our anniversary was a nice touch.
Had to ask for oil for the bread
Rib steak was rare and asked for medium with hint of pink.
We had a reservation and not seated till almost an hour later and not where we requested when reservation was made. Our Waiter was non-existent. The bar and bartender were excellent during our wait.
Great service. Pretty loud dining room. Lot's of energy. Celebrated a birthday here. The filet mignon was excellent. Perfectly cooked and tender. Caprese salad was mediocre. Lobster ravioli was good but not the best I've had. Drinks were great. Extensive menu. It's hard not to find something that you will love from Carmine's.
The service was very slow. The portions where large and had good taste.
