Carmelo's Coat of Arms
Carmelo is an innovative chef who continues to raise the bar. It’s hard to believe he’s been running Carmelo’s for 26 years. I was home visiting from NYC. We had a table for two in the back and it was like private dining. The meatballs, squid Ink linguini and short rib were all on point. Carmelo’s is a go to.
This was our second visit and we were not disappointed.

One of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had in recent memory. 7:45 reservation, we didn’t get sat until 8:45. Couldn’t even wait at the bar because it was so crowded and the bartender was inattentive. There was no hostess and the waitress was picking people randomly for table seating.
The food was good, but honestly there are 100s of places to get good food in WNY. No reason to go back to this place.
At the end of the meal our waitress brought our check then disappeared. I found her sitting at the bar talking with people. When I bought the check up to her she was super condescending and rude.
In summary: lots of waiting, good food, rude waitstaff.
Ohh they did comp us 1 drink.(insert hand jerking motion)

The service was great but the food was really mediocre
Food and service once sat was excellent. However waiting 45 minutes past your reservation time with zero communication from the staff is not a good way to spend your Valentine's Day.
Still, one of my favorite places to go, despite an average night of food.
The bar area was loud. Holiday night, and it was very busy; which added to the wait time which should be expected. (No complaint about that.)
Oddly, compared to years before, dinner was lacking from the normal spectacular flavors I remember. Entree 1 was the Duck, Entree 2 was Pasta with Lamb Ragu
The server was excellent and attentive. Although her assistant with the water pours seemed put out doing her job.
Favorite part -Tarimisu was excellent as was the Carmelos coffee
Lease favorite part- They took away the white tablecloths which led to a wonderfully romantic atmosphere in the past. Now, it reminds me of a country restaurant with hardwood tables
We went for Valentines Day. Made reservations and we were seated right away. Very crowded so noise level was bad. Hard to talk. We have been here numerous times and not had a problem so I’ll blame it on the occasion. Food was excellent, as usual. Great vegetarian selection. Table mate said the crab bisque soap was too salty but edible.

As always Carmelo has a diverse menu with exquisite attention to detail. Love that he makes his own pasta using unique ingredients.
Always have a great meal at Carmelo's. Interesting combinations, love that local, seasonal foods are a priority helping local farmers.
We go to Carmelo's for some of our special occasions and always look forward to it. This latest visit was for an early New Year's Eve dinner. The service was exceptional and the wait staff very pleasant. The food? Mixed, this time. Overall, rather disappointing.
The appetizer was excellent: sopressata sliced very thin and served with marinated olives and eggplants (along with the normal, very good warm, crusty Italian bread w. olive oil and an olive tapanade).
The pasta with fennel, sausage, and marinara was very good, but the serving was somewhat small.
The duck breast was supposed to have been served with butternut squash, farro and a maple syrup-wine sauce. The breast was well-seasoned and most of it was cooked well, though several slices were hard and tough. The sauce was much too sweet. The butternut squash was non-existent (a few tiny, cut-up 1/4-inch squares mixed with the farro does not quality as being served butternut squash). The farro (a wheat-like grain) was not cooked quite enough, ranging from chewy to hard.
Then there were the beef short ribs served on a bed of polenta with root vegetables. There were several large chunks of fat in the beef, which were impossible to remove because you couldn't see them before putting them in your mouth. The polenta, et al, was very good and the beef was well-seasoned, but it looked -- and tasted -- basically like stew meat. We declined to have dessert after that and instead had some excellent dessert at hom.

My husband and I are both foodies and educated in the hospitality field. We love this place. It is always spot on. Service is attentive but not overwhelming. Rustic with love ❤️ Food is exceptional every time.
Carmello’s is consistently the best dining experience in Western New York. From food to the service my dining experiences are always enjoyable.

Eating at Carmelo’s is always a treat! The food is delicious and the service is warm and welcoming! Everything was delicious from the appetizers to my pasta and Bologna’s sauce to the scrumptious apple tart! Such a wonderful place for a date night. We love Carmelo’s!

Honestly, we had a not so great experience there several yrs ago, hesitated going back. It was LITERALLY the best meal we've had in forever! We will be back soon. I could eat all the salad from the kitchen. It was the most incredible and freshest salad on the planet. Not to mention the steak, to die for! Great wine and beer list. Awesome soup, fantastic service. walked from Niagara Crossing. It was fantastic all around.

Hangar steak was excellent
Carmelo's is my favorite place for pasta in Western New York. It offers way more than many of the traditional red sauce italian that is offered in most restaurants in Buffalo. The menu changes seasonally, and for our meal we had the mafalde bolgnesse, butternut squash gnocchi, and squid ink pasta. It was all delicious.
Everything about our experience here for our anniversary was amazing. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive. Carmelo came out and introduced himself we were happy to compliment his food and service. Very reasonably priced for the quality. We will definitely be back for more than just a special occasion.
Food was quite good as was the service. From other reviews, we expected Carmelo's to be more upscale but it isn't at all. While out table was tucked into the corner, it was much louder than we expected due to the fact that the tables are quite close together.
The menu was unique, with items that I didn't recognize by name. When the server explained the ingredients and described the dishes it required some thought as to what may be the best dinner choice. From the first bite to the last, our dinners were full of delicious flavor and completely different than anything tasted in the past. The kindness and helpfulness of the server and quiet atmosphere made this the perfect birthday dinner choice.
Everything was perfect from start to finish! This place has the best spaghetti sauce I’ve ever tasted, and since I’m Italian, I’ve had a lot of sauce in my time! My husband had the gnocchi, and it was melt in your mouth wonderful. Peach cobbler for dessert was excellent, warm, delicious. If I lived in this town, I would dine here regularly!
