Cozy romantic dinner. Everything was delicious. Servers were delightful and accommodating. One of our favorites.
Didn't find a local establishment for a New Years Eve dinner so went searching. Found Carmelo's and decided to give it a try. Got an 8:15 reservation. The one hour+ drive was well worth it. Will return. Renee's service great.
Outstanding menu, great presentation and delicious!
New Year’s Eve dinner, the food felt a little overpriced as it wasn’t all that impressive. Tables were seated extremely close together which didn’t feel smart during COVID and you couldn’t have an effective conversation. The restaurant just isn’t as good as it used to be
Absolutely amazing service and the food was simply amazing. My only concern was less than 6 feet apart spacing of tables. For the majority of time tables next to us were open but half way through we had guests on both sides; closer than I'd like. Loved the food, service was great. Will go back, highly recommend!
Always a great dining experience at Carmello's. Food and wine selections are fabulous! Service is outstanding.
We have been coming to this restaurant for MANY years. It has been my favorite restaurant since the first time we ate there about a decade ago! It has always been consistently excellent, until this visit. I don't know what has happened, and I'm hoping it was just a fluke that this experience was TERRIBLE! The restaurant didn't appear to be very busy at all! It seemed as if the wait staff was new as well as kitchen staff/cooks. We only saw ONE familiar face. NOTHING was the caliber that is has consistently been in the past. I asked for a Patron Reposado, which was not what I was served. We did get charged for the Reposado though! Our salads were over dressed and soggy. Our prime rib and salmon were overcooked, the prime rib was charred I'd say. Ruined. The creme brulee was also burnt. We spent A LOT of money and it sucked!
So disappointed!!! I'm not one to complain, but I really regret not sending our food back and closing out our check! I was thinking of trying again, but I don't know if I will. There were only about 4 tables including ours being served at our 7 o'clock reservation time. I can't imagine why the kitchen would send the plates out so visibly apparent in the lack of quality control and presentation. My husband took two bites and couldn't eat his meal, but we didn't want to waste it. So, today we made a quiche with the overcooked meat. I managed to choke down my burnt and very dry salmon. SO DISAPPOINTED!
Excellent food and service for our annual Christmas Eve dinner!
Wonderful spot for Christmas Eve Dinner
The ambiance, food, and waiter were great! Would definitely come back.
The food and service at Carmello's are stellar!! This was a very busy Saturday night and they still kept up with our party of 7. Some of the highlights were the rabbit appetizer (WOW) the oysters and the delectable lamb. The filet special was perfectly cooked as were all four lamb dinners. I can't say enough nice things about this place. I do feel bad we were a little loud (first gathering since Covid) but they were extremely gracious and overlooked this. I look forward to returning!
One of the best restaurants we’ve been to in a long time. We loved it!
It was a perfect holiday evening--the meal was amazing, the service was outstanding and the ambience was magical. We were still talking about how wonderful it was the next several days!
Great food and service. Provided many gluten free options!
One can never go wrong with Carmello's! For over 25 years I've enjoyed this little jewel in Olde Town Manassas. Food is always terrific and the service is exceptional! For any special occasion or if you just want a pampered dining experience, Carmello's is the place to go!
Cannot believe I waited this long to try this place. Everything was wonderful - the atmosphere, food and service. When asked if they had blue cheese olives for our martinis the waiter said no we don't - but I can make some! It's that level of service that makes this place stand out. Will most definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Wonderful flavors, piping hot food, and a friendly and attentive wait staff. We had a memorable evening.
Just what we needed!
This is not what I expected, I was looking for Portuguese food as they advertise, but it was not so. Everything lacked spices or flavor, not one item tasted great. This restaurant is pretty expensive and I was not impressed.
Also, we were sitting in a booth, and the "leather" was in bad shape, some of the other furnishings needed to be updated. The bathroom was not clean and one toilet was broken and the other two had the toilet paper holder broken and overflowing garbage cans.
Not impressed, the waitress was OK, she tried very hard but lacked the proper training for fine dining, as they advertise.
Second time for dinner. Second time very satisfied. We go with close friends and have a great meal and are able to have great conversation.
Third time over the past few years to eat here, each meal has been wonderful. Our family of 7 was celebrating my 73rd birthday and this was the perfect place. Had a mixture of seafood, steak, and veal dishes. All of our plates were wiped clean, the food was so good. Excellent wine choices also, with a perfect price point for me.
One of our favorite places to dine. Always great food options and service.
Three of the four entree’s were great.
The veal, unfortunately, was not. I did not want to make a scene with this couple but I ordered the Veal Saltimboca. It was two pieces of the toughest dryest veal I have ever eaten. Saying it was well done doesn’t begin to describe the bricks I was served. I needed a hack saw to cut them and my wife repeatedly asked me if I was all right as I continually bumped her trying to cut the meat. The rice and gravy made it digestible. Also I have never had Saltimboca that was not stuffed but these were nothing more than 1 1/2” blocks of veal (maybe I am wrong and was given the wrong dinner).
Great place for a lovely dinner with your spouse, date, or close friends.
Carmello's is a small intimate restaurant in Old Town Manassas, VA with a European style menu selection. The paelha is the best I have had anywhere. Try the 32 ounce prime rib if you are extra hungry.
Service is excellent and the food is outstanding.
My salmon was slightly over cooked. All the rest of the food was superb.
Loved the food and they can switch things out. I preferred a pasta bed instead of the rice bed on one of their dishes, and it was good (they had no problem accommodating my request)!
The service was off on the Saturday night my date and I attended. To me, the most annoying thing that can happen at a nice restaurant is inattentive wait staff. I had to get up to find the waiter during my visit. The food was delicious and I will likely give them another try.
I was greeted and immediately seated. Our delightful and charming waiter came and offered us a complimentary glass of wine. The food was fabulous, and the wait staff attentive. We will go again!
Food was fantastic and service was wonderful.
Great for a quiet anniversary dinner. We’d never been before and it was a nice surprise
Carmello's has quickly become our favorite restaurant. The food is fantastic. The calamari we had as an appetizer is the best I have ever eaten. The veal wrapped in prosciutto practically melted in my mouth and the mushroom risotto was fantastic. The service is always excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant,
The food is delicious and the wine list is fabulous.
Birthday dinner with family
Absolutely delicious meal- strawberry bruschetta and oysters Rockefeller to start. Main course - vieiras, a delicious tomato rice with scallops, shrimp, lobster, artichokes. Exquisite! Dessert- vanilla bean creme brûlée with strawberries and cream, Coffee with Bailey’s Irish cream. Service was excellent. Nice quiet meal to celebrate a special occasion. Pricey, but worth it.
The service was exceptional, hands down great. I might be biased but I was really looking forward to the bold flavors of the Portuguese food I enjoyed in New England. The food was expertly prepared, but I feel like the flavor profiles appeal to "garlic is too spicy" crowd than those of us hunting a property Shrimp Mozambique, or Chourico Assado. I would return, but the hunt continues.
We had a great time. Staff and management went above and beyond to make our Anniversary dinner wonderful. Food was delicious.
Disappointing experience for special 80th Birthday Celebration. Service was slow and food quality was average for the prices charged. Wine recommendation was poor. Will not return.
Four of us went to dinner to celebrate one couple's anniversary. The waiter and others were 100% accomodating, professional, and helped us relax and enjoy the evening. All of the food was well prepared and well presented. Everyone enjoyed their meal which included dessert. I will comment only on the dishes I ordered since I am writing this review:
My appetizer of sea scallops was excellent. Three medium sized scallops prepared and presented well. I had the special entree of the evening: seafood in a tomato broth over spaghetti. The broth was delicious; the clams and mussels - nothing special but good. However: the spaghetti was way overcooked - unexpected from an upscale kitchen. Also, the calamari was mostly unedible. I am aware that tender calamari is difficult to find for any restaurant, but that night's chef should know better than to serve rubber bands. But, since the broth was delicious, I did enjoy the dish. Oh, I had for desert, the crème brûlée: it was very good.
Nice old time NYC vibe. Food was average. Mood was quiet and calm.
