Carmella's Plates and Pints
Our dining room has a warm and cozy feel due to the wood- beamed cathedral ceiling, open fireplace, taxidermy and stained glass windows that adorn the dining room. Our guests feel as though they are tucked away at some destination lodge that exists in the heart of the Historic Southside. Local meats are delivered daily with Wild Game plates on the menu such as our staple plates like the Bison Burger and Smoked Wild Boar Meatballs. We do have an intimate 60 seat dining room and ask that guests please call us for parties of 6 or more to make a reservation. Our expansive Whiskey Bar boasts over 500 Selections. Enjoy 11 Wines on Tap / 27 Craft beers on Tap / 11 Cocktails on Tap.

Everything was amazing!
Staff were friendly and efficient. Atmosphere was pleasant and not loud.
The ambiance was cool, the French press coffee was unique but expensive. Overall the quality of the food was nothing special
This is the first time we have been to Carmella’s and boy, were we impressed! This place is amazing and shouldn’t be passed up. The drinks, food, and service were amazing! We will definitely be going back!
As always, everything is great here - service, drinks, food, atmosphere. HIGHLY recommend - such a nice place to kick back after work with great food and drinks. Staff is so nice and very attentive.
So, the food was what I would call "perfectly edible," which means I don't think it was terrible, but it was a bit lackluster for what it was billed as. The real draw of this place is their incredible and extensive selection of Bourbons, Whiskeys, and Tequillas. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way for the food, though.
Great service. Menu is always exceptional.
We love Carmella's. Our server was excellent. Can't remember her name, but she had blue hair!
We had a great experience! The drinks were phenomenal and so was the food. Ben made our experience even better!
Great service. Large portion.
Excellent service!! Perfect for a date night.
I love Carmella’s for dinner, and their drinks are great all day. However, the brunch food was somewhat disappointing.
I ordered the brunch burger and it came without two ingredients, bacon and cheese. Thank goodness it still had the egg or it would’ve been very dry. Service was slow but is expected during these times.
Our first time at Carmella's and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the organic wine...only disappointment was the Cucumber Mint Patio Pleaser drink which was supposed to have mint in it but did not....not very good at all. Otherwise, we were happy with our food experience and will return.
Great place, good food, nice set up and ambience. Definitely recommend.
This is a difficult review. We were seated promptly and our server greeted us right away and took drink and appetizer orders. Dinner orders were also taken early. Our main issue is it took forever for the food to come out. Our dinner was served about 90 minutes after we ordered. Our server kept us updated and drinks came out quickly but the kitchen was beyond slow. I think Open Table said our table was reserved for 1.5 hours. At 1.5 hours we barely had appetizers and the meal was far behind. This definitely clouded my ability to rate the food. They did give us complimentary desserts (delicious) and took one round of drinks off our bill but we almost walked out to find a slice of pizza or something to eat we were that hungry!
This was our second time at this restaurant. I felt the food and quality of the service had declined since our first visit over a year ago. The menu seemed more limited than what I remembered. It was good to see that the restaurant was full. Really enjoyed the Islay Scotch tasting. I had a Peach Old Fashion which was excellent. Based on my recent experience I would come back for a drink and bite to eat rather than dinner.
Our first visit and we will return. Happy Hour promotion is great special.
Started with the Castellano olives, followed by the Beef Rib (succulent), baked beans (tasty), and my wife enjoyed the Branzino. (Both entrees are photo ops in of themselves.) All were delicious!
Ben was our host and provided insights to the menu, and worthwhile suggestions. He added considerably to our experience.
Extensive selection of bourbon, scotch and tequila, which encourage exploration. The decorations and stained glass are a treat to the senses. A fun place to dine
Maybe it was an off night for them but most of the menu was not available. Atmosphere was very cool. Improvements definitely needed but I will give them another chance.
Carmella's was a treat. Starting with the warm marinated olives with house-made chorizo, every dish was delicious and plates licked clean. Service was attentive and genuinely friendly, drinks poured and delivered promptly. Such a welcoming and fun environment.
The food was mostly excellent. Appetizer we wanted was not available and substitution waitress wasn't either. Appetizer gnocchi was aweful but entree gnocchi was fabulous. Desserts half and half as well - carrot cake beignets amazing, lemon-blueberry buckle was stale. Waitress had our table and all outdoor tables, so she was terribly in the weeds
Had drinks and dinner with friends.
Overall good experience! Slightly pricey but still enjoyed ourselves!
Tried this place for restaurant week. Food was good overall. Not the best. Not the worst. I’d go back and try something else. I recommend giving it a try
Wonderful food, service, atmosphere and they want the extra mile for a food allergy. Highly recommended
I went for restaurant week and the food was very underwhelming. The arancini appetizer was easily the best dish of the night. The entrees were not flavorful and the desserts were awful- cold and very dry. The descriptions online made the food sound way better than it tasted. It was my first time here and I'll likely only be back for drinks as the draft list was good and my cocktail was very tasty. Overall just disappointed and considered it a waste of $100+
Meh portions are small, food is meh
Went for Pittsburgh Restaurant Week. The three course meal was amazing! My wife and I each got different appetizers, entrees, and desserts and all of them were delicious. We have been coming to Carmellas for years and the food, ambiance, and service are always top notch.
I had never been to Carmellas and decided to give it a try using the Restaurant week menu. It was delicious!! The food was great, the service was great, and the cocktails were great! The only minor issue was it's really, really dark inside. Other than that, loved it and will go back!
Restaurant week is a great opportunity to find a new place and give it a try!
Food was fantastic with the combination of flavors.
A very fun place with fun food!
This was a fabulous experience.
Great great server Tabitha. Food was all excellent as was the dragonfruit mojito
Good food, great service. The cocktails were really delicious and creative.
The place was packed - great to see! We had to wait for our reserved table but Carmella was very accommodating! The serving staff was attentive and the food was great!
Nice evening. Ashley was very attentive. We’ll be back.
Great service and food to match.
The food and drink list were excellent. The fish and meat dinners were cooked to perfection and had a nice mix of sauces and vegetable base.
This place is a hidden gem.
Everyone provided excellent service to make our experience outstanding!
Gnocchi and duck dishes were quite disappointing.
