Carmella's Plates and Pints
Our dining room has a warm and cozy feel due to the wood- beamed cathedral ceiling, open fireplace, taxidermy and stained glass windows that adorn the dining room. Our guests feel as though they are tucked away at some destination lodge that exists in the heart of the Historic Southside. Local meats are delivered daily with Wild Game plates on the menu such as our staple plates like the Bison Burger and Smoked Wild Boar Meatballs. We do have an intimate 60 seat dining room and ask that guests please call us for parties of 6 or more to make a reservation. Our expansive Whiskey Bar boasts over 500 Selections. Enjoy 11 Wines on Tap / 27 Craft beers on Tap / 11 Cocktails on Tap.

Amazing service and great atmosphere, food and drinks
This is a great restaurant with a number of comfort food itens on the menu and an extensive book of spirits
Charming atmosphere, especially for a cold winter night -- we sat by the center fireplace. Service was really excellent and the hostess (Carmella?) was very accommodating. The beer selection was just okay, and the food was only mediocre. My chicken pot pie was somewhat flavorful, but had no chicken in it. My partner had the chestnut gnocchi, which she reported to be very good. The Buffalo Sprouts were a new and flavorful take on brussels sprouts. I'll give the place another try, but was not blown away by quality
The food was excellent and the service was great. The restaurant did a great job of taking Covid precautions seriously. They have separated tables and placed barriers between them so that you feel safe without feeling trapped in a box. It was an excellent experience.
Such a gem in the Southside. The food and drinks here are consistently great. We rarely repeat restaurants but always find time to revisit here.
Fabulous food, delicious drinks, and great service! Definitely a unique and cozy place to have gatherings with friends and family.
It was amazing! Ford and drinks were outstanding! Service was top notch! All around 5 star experience! Absolutely will go back!
Our favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh so far. Delicious food and fantastic service by Tabitha. We will be back very soon.
We were awed by the decor and the food was excellent
Very memorable and oh the drinks! Great Irish Coffee too!
Went for brunch. Great food. Quick service. Great drinks (although a little pricey but still worth it). Cool atmosphere. 9/10 easily.
Always love going to dinner there and sitting in the back near the fireplace. Great deals on wine on Tuesdays. Also the new fall/winter food menu is delicious!!
Our brunch was honestly disappointing. We had reservations for more than a week. We arrived on what was very likely the last beautiful weekend in 2020. A good manager would have anticipated a lot of customers and planned accordingly. By the time we ordered our food, they were out of everything I wanted, and I had to order my 3rd choice, which was honestly mediocre at best. We had a celiac in our party as well — many items on the menu were proudly labeled “GF,” but there was no dedicated fryer? And a splash of house merlot was $12? A moderately-edible brunch was $170-ish with tip (sorry, but Bob Evans is just as tasty without the booze and high price). I am disappointed and underwhelmed, but I will try one more time with the dinner menu. The service was cheerful and attentive, though, which was nice.
No stuffy steakhouse feel here, this place has neighborhood flair with unique dining cuisine.
Carmella’s has a diverse selection of bar cocktails, with an ever changing menu of local, seasonal and wild game dishes. Ravioli, pork chops, bison burgers, chicken sandwiches and a great spot for Sunday Brunch.
While we only sat outside , the food was amazing. The service was a little slow. Our server was a tad forgetful but it was brunch so I will chalk it up to being busy.
The server was attentive and friendly and that was probably the high point. We were seated at a wonky, round fireplace table that was too low for my husband to fit his knees under the table. I understand Covid separation, but there was a normal table right next to us that was vacant the entire time. Our meals were mediocre, lacking even basic seasoning. Maybe we picked the wrong selections from the menu, but 2 out of three meals, one being a basic burger, were really a disappointment. If nothing else, a pub should be able to hit a burger out of the park. It was barely edible and so dry, I couldn’t finish. Maybe we hit it on a bad night, but not sure we’d give it another try.
Had a wonderful brunch and the most delicious food! The special of pumpkin pie doughnuts was absolutely amazing, and so was the chicken and biscuits!! We will definitely be back!
Brunch was fantastic!!!
great atmosphere, food and service. will absolutely come again
Went in for brunch. The inside was nice and clean. Food came out quickly and looked/tasted great. We made reservations on a Saturday at 1, but it would be easy to walk in and get a table.
We were sadly underwhelmed given such a lovely menu. The staff greeted us and were lovely. However, the food was literally 50/50. We ordered the rabbit ragu and gnocchi. The idea was perfect but, the execution was not. When you order something braised, think you have the perfect bite, and then get basically raw carrot it’s ruins the dish. The beet salad had nothing to it and should have been listed as a frisée salad with beets very lightly dressed in vinaigrette. Because there was literally nothing else. The Brussel sprouts were perfect and so was the octopus. Cooked to perfection. The Apple beignets were amazing and the pickled apples where cut beautifully, all while the sabayon was perfection. Even though I was not asked if I would’ve like another drink by the wait staff, the cocktail Greyhound was great!
We had a great experience for dinner. It was clean and the staff was very welcoming. They took great care of us and we would definitely recommend. We will go back for sure on the next visit to Pittsburgh!
Amazing food. Amazing service. And great bourbon selection.
Great waiter, we tipped him a little extra. Noise was a bit louder and is to be expected for outdoor dining. Awesome food. Peach punch was just average. It might taste better with white wine as opposed to proscesco.
Cool atmosphere, great service, great food and great cocktails. What else could you ask for?
Absolutely the worst brisket I have ever had. I’m not sure how they would even call it BBQ. I’m sure real pit masters are crying over the fact that it came out of a “smoker”.
Very much appreciated the curtains between tables - lessened risks of Covid, lessened noise, aesthetically pleasing. We liked the food, service and general ambiance. Would definitely recommend and will go back there next time I'm in Pittsburgh.
Food is excellent. Service is excellent.
We will be back for sure. excellent food and service with a great vibe.
Carmella herself is fabulous! Food was delish
The food was DIVINE! I would go every day for dinner if I could. The drinks and dessert are fantastic too. And Carmella always treats her customers like family. The service was quick and super friendly.
I love this place!
The best brunch cocktails around! The banana old fashion is fantastic.
I really enjoyed the food and the waiter Ben was very nice and attentive but I felt the portions were small compared to the prices.
Very unique ambiance. Food was interesting. Jerked fried chicken with matcha waffles. Sounds crazy but it worked. The infused spirits were quite good too. I would go back.
Always the best in the Southside of Pittsburgh!!
The service was excellent and the place has a nice atmosphere. The food, however, was bland (had five different dishes between the four of us, and only one had true flavor).
Great one year anniversary dinner spot! Delicious food and drinks!
Carmella's Brunch is, in my opinion, one of the best on the South Side. Their dinner menu is delicious as well. This is a great spot for a date night or dinner with family and friends. The outdoor area is nice but it's not always the most relaxing thing to be sitting along Carson Street as the traffic can get a bit loud, so consider that when making your reservation. The staff is delightful and friendly.
My favorite things from the menu were the Shishito Peppers and The Cast Iron Cookie Cake.
I had a reservation on open table but they said they didn’t see it. Thankfully they still had a table for us.
We had THE BEST waitress ever. The food was amazing and the coffee was the best black coffee!
