We have always wanted to dine at Carmella’s but never had the chance to. We were first seated at a communal table with a fireplace in the middle. I asked if we could be moved to a different table and they obliged immediately. We started with the wild boar meatballs, they were delicious. I had the short rib and my wife had the steak, both were really good. Both dishes plus the one appetizer was plenty of food and fulfilling.
Not a vegan/vegetarian place like it states
We we’re visiting from out of state and found Carmella and her staff to be very kind. The chef came out to ask about our food and was also gracious. Food was excellent and a great experience overall.
They were absolutely packed but the service and food were both excellent.
Fantastic restaurant. Loved the food and the design! Two issues: The bar seating area had a great feel but was just a little too dark to read the menu or see/appreciate the food. Also, the desert selections all had nuts in them so allergy folks out of luck. Service was top notch.
As always Carmella’s food is amazing, the service is great, and the Bloody Mary’s are the best!!!! If you haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out!
Delicious food, enjoyable/fun atmosphere, excellent/kind staff. HIGHLY recommend. Oh and amazing drink pours 💪🏽
Great food and great service!
Had Sunday brunch at Carmela's. Ordered crabcake Benedict. Presentation and taste were so-so. First of all, crabcake seem to be overcooked and dry. Eggs were alright, but the potatoes were underdone... some pieces were almost raw. Girlfriends meals were better, they said - steak tostadas and house omelettes were delicious.
Coctails were great: we had spicy Bloody Mary and Lovely Lady.
Overall, for brunch I'd go elsewhere, but i want to give this place a try for dinner, due to their impressive collection of whiskey and bourbon.
Great place for brunch with fabulous food, awesome Bloody Mary's and Mimosas and outdoor seating. What else could you ask for in the burgh?!
Great food every time. The Chef even came out to speak to my group. We come here pretty often because the food is amazing, but the Chef coming out to speak with us added another level. Also, never noticed the music playing before, but nice added touch. We will return.
Restaurant week menu was awesome..service and food was really good! Love the bar area and the ambiance was wonderful in the dining area!
I think this might be my new favorite restaurant. The food was so good and out of this world flavor. I think I might of had my favorite stuffed pepper! The cocktails are really good
Amazing! Our favorite place to take friends and family visiting our neighborhood
This is a great place for a good drink and nice sharing plates! I love it there!
This was such a great find! The food was fantastic and you’re treated like family. Everyone was so friendly and chatty. Very glad we decided to come here for our dinner.
Best food and service on the Southside. Carmella's has found a Chef that cares about the entire food experience with flavors, comfort and plating. And, the best cocktails that serve as the cherry on top of your meal!
Great food and service
Great environment and selection of bourbon. The food was incredible. Highly recommend the wild boar meatballs, short rib, and hanger steak. We will definitely be back.
Excellent service. Food was spectacular. Great ambiance.
Birthday Dinner with family was very go9d. Excellent wild game entrees.
Carmellas was such a cute little find along the stretch of otherwise boring places. Dont let the little entrance confuse you, as it opens up into a beautiful bar and a warm dining room. Carmella, herself, was there and you could tell how much she loved her establishment and that our excellent experience was no fluke. We will be back again for sure !
Great food but very poor service. The server was unapologetic for multiple mistakes and said “listen ladies, mistakes happen, and this is my sisters restaurant.”
This was my first time at Carmella's and it definitely will not be my last. Wonderful food, incredible bar, and superb service at a very reasonable price. This just may become my favorite place to hang.
Large portions, food well prepared and delicious. A wobbly table and a little loud for brunch, but otherwise had a great time and would return.
Such a wonderful experience!!
A have a Restaurant Tour Group that visits a new restaurant every month... We were not only happy, but met and took a photo with the Chef 👨🏾🍳!!
Fantastic! I certainly will be back for my personal dining 🥰
Service was great and food was delicious. Cocktails were perfect too!
This was our fourth or fifth time at Carmella's. Our meal was great except that on Mother's Day, the mom at the table did not get her meal until after everyone else had gotten their meal and eaten theirs. There was a snafu in the kitchen. They took it off the bill.
Amazing!!! I would highly recommend - great atmosphere, food is absolutely delicious and service is top notch!!!!
We went for Mother's Day Brunch and the food was fantastic! We had people with us who had never been and really enjoyed themselves. Always a great experience!
Outstanding food, cool atmosphere, and great service. We have eaten here twice and will be back.
I have been to Carmella’s many times with great experiences. This Saturday night was more than off.
Our first table was so wobbly and not even fixable with cardboard we were moved.
The waitress continually interrupted our conversation. My soup which was my appetizer was brought before the others appetizers.
Most importantly I ordered the veal chop and it was inedible. Too tough with too much gristle. I wound up eating angel hair pasted with butter for $33 .
I told the waitress and she asked if I wanted anything else- since everyone else was finished eating of course I did not.
We all shared the caramelized bread pudding which was dry old bread with sugar burnt. No pudding at all,
We won’t be back for a long time
Oh and my husband had no silverware and I literally had to get up and track the waitress down as everyone else had their meals and were waiting to start eating
A wonderfully creative menu and preparation.
And a bourbon list to envy . . .
It was amazing they even had an open table. This place was amazing! It was a vibrant atmosphere, with well thought out, inviting, intimate decor. The food was fabulous and the service perfect. The French Press coffee service for dessert was lovely!
Enjoyed Easter Brunch at Carmella's. Wonderful food & great service. The beverage selection looked fantastic, but it was a bit early to enjoy it much! We will definitely return!
We came here for Easter Sunday Brunch. The whipped honey butter on the bread was delicious. I ordered the lobster mac and cheese which was very tasty. The cookies for dessert were pretty good. I wish they gave us more of them. I'm not sure if we were allowed to have more or not. The brunch menu selection was good and even included a vegetarian option (I had a vegetarian dining in my party). We had to sit in the bar area and it was a little cramped but other than that it was okay. Overall it was a pretty good value for a set price and I'm glad we came here.
We all enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere. The service was attentive but never intrusive. We are from Lancaster and were meeting family for Easter brunch - will definitely dine here again on one of our frequent trips to Pittsburgh!
We've had great times here in the past but was disappointed with our last visit. Brought friends and the experience was poor. Waiter was cranky and the front window was open even though it was 40 degrees and raining. The owner usually stops by and makes you feel welcome and at home. She did stop by our table but wasn't really interested in having a conversation even though the restaurant was not crowded. Our friends were unimpressed and we are not sure if we will be back.
Brunch and drinks were delicious! Great ambiance and inviting staff!
I will not be returning. I had my least enjoyable experience this past weekend for brunch of all the places I’ve booked on opentable. Service was terrible. Food took over an hour to get from the time we sat down. Nobody refilled our water or acknowledged us for 30 minutes while we waited for our food. The chicken was so salty it was inedible. Save your money. Go somewhere else.
