Carmela's Bistro & Wine Bar
Father’s Day brunch...just my husband and I...could not have had a more enjoyable time!...he had his favorite “biscuits and gravy” (just a tad under seasoned he thought)...I had eggs Benedict and mine was delicious (I added a bit more pepper)...killer spicy and regular Bloody Mary’s!!!...exceptional service from Taylor...Thank you!
We generally love Carmela’s but this time it just didn’t hit the mark. We didn’t get bread, our server seemed annoyed the whole time and the menu was a bit disappointing. The prices were high for what you got.
The Tuna Tower was excellent and the Margarita pizza was very good; an interesting yet yummy interpretation of a caprese salad.
The table was just what I rend the waitress was so accommodating to our desire to take our time!
Carmela's is in the top 5 of our favorite restaurants in Lincoln. Great menu, service and atmosphere!
Enjoyed brunch prior to graduation. Wait staff polite & food good!
As usual, we had a fabulous meal at Carmelas. It is one of my "go to" places whenever I am in Lincoln.
Food and service, always outstanding. The menu changes on a regular basis, so sometimes an item that I LOVED the last time is no longer on the list, but I never have a problem finding something else equally delicious. Thank you for your consistently interesting offerings! Will be back!
Very nice place. We hadn’t been there before, but will go back. Seated right away. Fantastic server and great Mother’s Day selections.
It’s small and quaint, fabulous food, and great wi e selection
It was amazing!
Carmela's mostly does a good job on the food. This time, it was a little lackluster. I had the poblano salmon, and while it was good it was very mild. A dish that has poblano in its name should have a little kick to it. The risotto was also just risotto, nice texture but nothing special. The apparatus was kind of small tree trunks. Others at my table agreed: there was nothing wrong with the food, it just wasn't special.
Our server was great. The ambiance was good, not super busy and not noisy. The stemware is atrocious. Big, thick stems, really clunky. Not worthy of the good wine in them. Great wine list, btw.
We will go again, maybe it was just an off night.
Wonderful welcoming and decor awesome. Server made it extra special!!!
Excellent food and service. Will be returning again for Sunday Brunch.
Always greeted upon arrival and shown to our table. Enjoyed a delicious raspberry mimosa! Salad and crab cakes were great. Leftovers were carefully packaged to take home.
As usual, the food and service were wonderful. It was busy. The only thing that could have been slightly smoother is we came in at the same time as another group of three. They sat them right away, but we stood there for 5 -8 minutes without a lot of communication that we were going to be seated as well.
We've been here several times. The wine selection is outstanding as well as the food. The walleye piccata is out of this world!!! Celebrated birthdays here!
Went there on a Tuesday night. They were not crowded at all. I have been there several times in the past. Previously we had always had a good experience. However, this night The service was very slow and our server was unattentive.
As for the food, we ordered crabcakes for an appetizer. Those were very good. There were four of us in our party. Two ordered the fillet, which I believe is the Oscar’s favorite. One ordered medium well and the other medium rare. The medium well cake well done but was still edible but lacked flavor. The second one was supposed to be medium rare but also came out over cooked. They took the steak back and cooked a new one, and brought it out. It was now less than rare. We sent that back and they brought out a third state. It was just as rare as the second one. Finally we just had them take the rare steak away and that person did not have an entrée that night. Don’t know if they had a new cook or what the problem was. No real explanation was given for the lack of quality in there cooking of the steak. Part of this may have been due to our server who was less than enthusiastic and throughout the entire evening.
Food and service was A+!! We had walleye and chicken julienne was the best walleye I personally have had!
Had a great experience. The Walleye was very good!
Food was amazing as always but our server was not pleasant. She was rude, snarky and actually made all of us feel unwanted there. We would have stayed longer for another drink but she was very unpleasant so we left.
First thing, Food was outstanding! Issue was with the timing and service of food/drinks. The Chilled sparkling white wine was served at about 2/3 chilled, so was not able to enjoy that wine with our appetizers. Asked for the bottle of red wine to be brought out with our dinners. Dinner was served 45 minutes after appetizers were taken away, then red wine came out 10 minutes after our dinners were served. We had to either let the food get cold or not enjoy the wine with the food. The food was tasty so decided to eat without the wine. When the red wine did come, their steamwear was way too thick and small to properly enjoy a good red wine (like Libby glasswear). If you can get over these issues to enjoy the food then I would recommend this place. I have recently hosted two 6-8 person dinners here spending quite a bit of money each time, but both left me underwhelmed.
We were here for our daughter’s birthday. The selection is good. Good choices for children. Our server did a great job. Overall we enjoyed ourselves.
Table for 11 was all set for us before we even arrived! Superb food and service! Thank you!
Great food, great service, great place!
We were celebrating our anniversary and had never been to Carmela's for dinner, only lunch. Dinner menu is very impressive. My husband had the walleye, and I had the salmon. Both were exceptionally prepared and presented. Somewhat noisy for an intimate, romantic dinner, but overall a great experience.
It is a good place to eat. The food is high quality and the menu changes which is nice. I do think it is a bit on the expensive side. I don't mind paying more for the high quality food. I think the meals could include a salad or soup to start off the meal as part of the price. Otherwise it is a good place to eat. It has a large wine list if you like that and they did treat my mom to a complementary dessert, so that was a nice surprise.
Best part of our evening was being able to carry on a conversation at a normal conversation level. Wait staff work hard to make sure patrons are pleased!
My favorite restaurant in Lincoln
Creative, delicious menu.
Service was very slow. An hour after we ordered, with no further contact from our server, we called her over and pointed out it had been an hour since we’d ordered. She said she would check. After a few min she brought our meals. One was not hot so we sent it back for reheating. We were in little room sitting next to the shelves between it and the main dining room. A cold draft was blowing up from the floor. Even with wool socks and warm boots we were cold.
Hubby and I went here for date night. Great place for couples! I had lasagna; hubby had a pizza. Both were great. Serving were huge.
We will be back- several times.
This is one of our favorite places to go. The food is amazing...they have a large wine selection and the service is always great ! Highly recommended;)
Carmela's Bistro continues to be one of our favorites. Meals are tasty, well presented and pleasing to both eyes and palette. We like the ambiance of the separate rooms and candlelit tables. The wait staff was very attentive on our last visit and made the meal very enjoyable for us by his knowledge and attentiveness. Our only negative comment would be that the wine is overpriced. A bottle which can be bought at a local spirits store for $13.00 was $45.00 on their menu. They do have a wide selection of wine, though, perhaps the best in town!
Carmela's is our favorite go-to restaurant for a date night dining experience. Excellent service, the menu is delightful with nice sized portions. An extensive wine list and usually a shared dessert complements whatever we decide to have.
Took my girlfriend on a date there Valentines Day weekend and it was everything we could have wanted. Food, staff, and atmosphere was awesome!
Such a great experience for Valentine’s Day! Great food, fresh ingredients, and service was top notch!
They have the best bread I've ever tried! We had the bruschetta, and the balsamic vinegar on it was amazing. Our service was also excellent!
Service was excellent. Wine was wonderful. It was a bit chilly in the room. Prime rib was ok; I have had better prime rib at Misty's. The salmon was good. Overall it was a good evening. We had not been to Carmela's for quite some time; I chose to go there for a Valentine's dinner. Will come back again in the future. Thanks.
What a wonderful venue for a romantic Valentine's day dinner. We had a cozy corner, great service and the food was impeccable. We'll he back next year!
Food was great. My date ordered the veal and it was definitely not fresh but tasted fine. We also had a bottle of wine that was delicious but way overpriced. But our waitress was great and it was a great night!
