It was very nice, second time going there to eat once as date other as family night dinner very friendly staff
Had 3 friends for lunch to celebrate a special day. Everything was perfect
The carrot cake continues to be awesome. The steak and fries was not as good this time. The steak was bland and a bit over-cooked (I asked for medium rare).
There was some kind of group celebration going on next to us that was pretty noisy, but it wasn't too bad. We were having a meeting and would have appreciated a more quiet atmosphere.
Food was very good. Wish there were a few more specials for restaurant week.
I find it crazy that you cannot order drinks and appetizers during happy hour when you are not sitting in the bar. The bar was completely full at 4:00pm on a Friday afternoon so we had to sit 15 feet away in the restaurant but we were not allowed to order our favorite happy hour food and drinks. ABSURD!!
We had a very comfortable meal with friends that we hadn't seen in a long time and the ambiance was great for conversation. We were in no hurry, which caused a lot of wait staff interaction, but otherwise, it was a great time, easy parking, great food and good wine selections. We will definitely go back!
We always have a great meal at the Carlyle Grill. Whether you splurge on a steak or order the hamburger, you won't go wrong. And they always have a nice wine selection.
Good food with lots of options. Nice presentstion and atmosphere.
It was packed Friday night but they took us at the time of our reservation, always a positive thing. Food was good but the overall noise level was above what we were looking for. Service was good and we thought good value for the money.
Everything was just perfect from service to food. A special celebration for our 17 yr old granddaughter’s birthday.
We were given a round table to seat the six of us as requested. Great! The waitress was pleasant, the food was served in a reasonable time except had to wait for salmon to be cooked for salad, the wine was delicious, beer also, good time had by all of us.
Even though it was New Year's Eve and dinnertime., and very, very busy, everyone working there was great. Our waitress could not have been nicer even though you knew she had been running like crazy all night. Everyone we encountered was super. The food was excellent. Thank goodness I had been smart enough to make reservations in advance, but it appeared even those that had not made reservations were seated reasonably soon. Great job to all that work at Carlyle's.
Too damn noisy! Typical open hard surfaces and noisy!!
Our meals were excellent and our server, Kyle, was super nice.
Fish & Chips: good fish, fries not to good. Cold & hard. Mushroom Ravioli: very good, but bread was baked too long causing ends to be hard & brittle. Service was very good.
We were a tad disappointed with the food. My steak was definitely medium (almost well done) but I had requested it be medium rare. It was the “Steak Frite” and I was surprised it didn’t come with a small side salad.
My boyfriend had prime rib. He said it was ok. He likes the salad that came with it.
Food is solid and reasonably good. Atmosphere is lacking despite relatively pleasing decor. Walked in to the hostess barking table numbers to the seaters. Waitstaff were very attentive, helpful, water filled regularly, checked on us the right amount. Yet there is a lack of polish that is unexpected. The Carlyle could be so much more with a little attention to detail. Currently feels like a modest hotel dining experience serving a captive audience. It’s proximity to the Quality 16 and the 15% discount with your movie ticket that is the draw. Wouldn’t go there otherwise, despite being close to home.
Went for our anniversary which happened to be Christmas Eve. They were running out of various foods and making substitutions without telling the server to give guest options for ordering the dishes. This made the experience bad for us. Manager didn’t seem to care about our concerns. Gave an insincere apology. Definitely won’t be going back.
Always meet expectations
Love the Poutine (the best I've ever had). I get it every fall and winter. Pls leave it on the menu year-round.
Consistently good food.
Good food and value - as usual! And a great menu. Service and the kitchen were quite slow (not normal for Carlyle’s). We definitely recommend this restaurant for everyday dining or business meals (they have a separate room for large events).
For a Thursday night, they were exceptionally busy. Our service was tag team, everyone was terrific, the food was the best we’ve ever had there, and we eat at Carlyle semi frequently. No one brought us bread, but other than that, it was a great birthday dinner for my husband.
Our favorite place to land! Love the steak frites and burgers! Best fries in town!
I was underwhelmed. Bread was dry, had to ask for fresh bread. Ordered a meatless dish, acorn squash pasta. Daily Special. $19. Are you kidding? Way too expensive. Waitress was good, could have checked on us more frequently. I probably won’t be back anytime soon.
Carlyle Grill is one of a few restaurants in the Ann Arbor area that make our top picks. We love to cook, and so we are quite fussy and critical about food quality. We have always enjoyed our meals at the Carlyle Grill, the extensive menu, and the chef's specials, which are always delicious. The atmosphere is lively, and comfortable, and the staff are excellent.
We came to Ann Arbor's Carlyle Grill for Thanksgiving dinner. The traditional holiday fare was excellent, served with family style sides. Also available was a fish and vegetarian choice. The server was excellent, as was all the welcoming staff on such a busy day! Thank you Carlyle Grill for my memorable family gathering!
Always happy with the food and service. Brianna is best waitress!!!
Good food, great value for Thanksgiving
This has become our favorite restaurant in the Ann Arbor area. We love the food, prices, servers, and ambiance. We generally eat in the bar because we like the coziness of the space. Happy hour is great! But anytime, burgers are wonderful as are most other items.
Thanksgiving meal was very good. Plenty of food & more if u asked! Each table was given trays & bowls full of each item such as sweet potatoes, dressing, cranberry & green beans & carrots. Like eating at home. Good service also.
I like Carlyle for the booths that allow for conversation between people, despite any background noise from other tables and larger groups. The food is predictable and good. There is usually ample parking, some of which is shared with the multiplex movie theater in the same complex. The restaurant aims to please and the wait staff are attentive in a good way. This is the same owner as Mediteranno, which is a bit more upscale, and has equally attentive staff.
Had reservations for 7pm and was promptly seated. Wait staff came right away and took a drink order. Place was very loud, busy night. We placed our dinner order, wait person came back and said they were out of the rotisserie chicken. Tried to then order the Cuban and was told they were also out of that. Finally order the fish and chips. Dinner came food was good, but the 16 oz steak looked to be about a 10-12 oz. Had desert. Spoke with manager about lack of food and size of steak. She apologized and comped us the desert. We plan on trying it again and hopefully getting what we order.
Came for a birthday. Food was perfect but server wasn't very attentive.
Prime rib was very tough - worst I’ve ever had.
Need to add some sound batts to lessen the noise level
Food was great... service was excellent..... we had a group of 7 on a very crowded night and they handled us in a timely and professional manner. Our reservation was handled perfectly.
We stopped in for a quick dinner while in Ann Arbor. Our server, Kelly, was super busy but attentive to us. Our meals arrived quickly, were cooked to order and were hot. Nice work in the kitchen! It was a noisy crowd on a Friday evening before a football game. Not always so loud. This is a good solid restaurant.
Great salad! Service was ok, not great. Probably better for everyday dining.
