Great meal.. hostess very friendly and always accommodating my open table request...
Plenty of desirable dishes on menu. Excellent service, very attentive wait staff. Excellent salads and tasty chicken tenders. Ambiance and lighting is good. Offers separate bar area where you can also order food.
Restaurant very loud, cannot hear people at own table. Not kid friendly at all. Waitress stated didn't have things that were on the menu, then had server bring them. Unattentive staff were rushed and didnt have much caring personality. Food was average at best.
My boyfriend and I love to come to Carlyle, it is our favorite restaurant to eat at. The food is amazing and the service is great!
We were seated promptly, the food was great and the server was excellent.
The food was very good. Our waitress was excellent but the wait from the kitchen was terrible. I could tell that the waitress felt bad but it was out of her control. They sent out the wrong item and then it took a very long time to correct it. She kept apologizing about the wait but it made for a dissatisfying experience despite the excellent service and food.
We are frequent diners, like many, at Carlyle for two reasons; the excellent service and great food and the proximity to Quality 16. They changed the menu look and layout a while back for reasons that remain unclear; from a simple paper to hefty laminated poster with a red barn featured on the back, suggesting local produce offered? Our most recent dinner was on-par except the pasta dish had the large spirals in place of the angel hair that we were told was in short supply. The kitchen compensated for the bulk increase of pasta by having way too much balsamic that was too sweet to make an appealing dinner. Carlyle, true to form, did not charge us for the dinner not eaten and of course offered to bring something else, whatever was needed. They have been too good for too long to allow this hiccup to matter much. We will be back next week.
We went for a late lunch with family to celebrate a birthday. The reservation in open table was made for 7 but only a party of 5 was present. The restaurant quickly accommodated a smaller party, selecting a much more secluded area in the restaurant corner. This was a great location, as it was more quiet and allowed all to hold a normal conversation. The food was excellent and the server was very attentive to our meals and drinks! We have eaten here before and this time did not disappoint! As it was a birthday, the restaurant gave us a very generous discount which was applied to all three bills, not just the birthday person! This was unexpected and just added to very delightful time!
I rarely endorse with 5 stars, but the Carlyle Grill is one of the best for a very competitive restaurant market in the area! Thank you!
This is a place you would take your family to. It is not a place for a nice meal, but you get a homecooked type meal and it is tasty. It was good but it was way too loud and crowded for my tasted. I did enjoy the rotisserie chicken a lot but we found the other foods to be too salty.
This was my first time ever attending this restaurant and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The food was wonderful! Crab cakes - AMAZING. Lots of food for the price and very tasty. I plan on going again soon and am looking forward to making it there this summer to eat outdoors. Overall, GREAT PLACE.
Went to celebrate 59th Wedding Anniversary. They totally ignored it. Told me because because we did not come on the exact date of Anniversary, nothing could be done to acknowledge it. When I complained to manager he offered to give dessert to take hone. I accepted . He gave us burnt carrot cake.
We arrived about 30 minutes early for reservation on a Friday night and was still able to be seated within 15 minutes. Pleasant staff and a great place to eat!
Amazing rib eye and amazing prime rib. We celebrated a birthday .
Pros: Reserved table online and was seated early, welcoming hostess, nice atmosphere, clean, nice cocktail and good chicken dish.
Cons: had to send the meatloaf back because it was far too spicy, poor waitstaff service.
We were celebrating a birthday but I would enjoy dinner here anytime. We had a steak and mushroom ravioli. The quality was very good and the service was excellent! A late night dinner so it was quiet, I expect it's much busier earlier in the evening. Menu offers many choices, I think anyone could find something they would like. Carrot cake for dessert was awesome.
Great food, one of our favorite places.
Usually have a good meal here- tonight a bit of a disappointment. My wife’s food was cold and my pot roast was more fat than meat.
Very nice, professional staff. Every time we have eaten here the food has been great and the portions are quite large.
My food was OK but they offered a variety of options to choose from. I definitely recommend the broccoli and cheddar soup. That was delicious.
Our meals were very good. The server was capable and attentive. It was so noisy that we couldn't hear the server nor could she hear us. The sound system was turned up very loud, playing country music at a high volume. We asked to have it lowered and the server agreed that it needed to be toned down but was successful only in a small volume reduction. No one visits this restaurant to listen to the music, even those in the bar aren't there for it. A background level of sound and choice of musical offering would have suited the dining experience that they seem to want to create with a fine menu and good service.
They do not use OpenTable table, I reserved our table online - only to find out they don't participate in it.
We were particularly impressed with Miss Bauer, the hostess who seated us. She was polished, poised and gave us a really nice welcome.
A pleasant-enough experience. Nothing to write home about. The food is just OK.
The main attraction of Carlyle Grill is its location across a parking lot from the Quality 16 multiplex, so it's very convenient if you're going to see a movie after the meal.
Selena was a wonderful server, a little quite but she did a great job and answered any questions promptly. The Valentine’s Day menu was amazing! Surf n turf and the salmon roulade!!!
Entrees arrived Hot, Hot, Hot ... so appreciated that! Meal was delicious, waitress was friendly and the place was hopping on Valentine's Day! We had to move to a different table because our table was unsteady, but that was accomplished quickly. Definitely looking forward to returning.
Great server, great food, great time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Two of us only had burgers, and one had ribs, which were very good, but one had blackened salmon that was tasty but dry, possibly overcooked. In general, though, it was a very pleasant first visit for us.
Post concert celebration
Family favorite for pre theater, pre concert meals and entertaining guests. Great option west of parking poor and crowded Ann Arbor standards, plenty of parking, easy access. Staff is attentive, professional.
Great food Great service. I would recommend if your visiting.
Our server was top notch!!!
Great service and drinks! Burgers and fries are great as is the Calamari.
We dine at the Carly often and always are very satisfied with food and service.
Went for restaurant week, though we had a reservation we waited for over 30 minutes until they had a table for us. That was the case with a lot of reservations. The best part of the meal was the bread. The food was just ok. I ordered spicy fettuccini and it lacked a sauce something that would pull the dish together. However, my husband’s steak was nicely done. The service was just ok not very friendly and did not pay much attention to the table. We had restaurant week menu, which we were ordering from and some items were not part of restaurant week after I tried to order them. I don’t think we will be returning any time soon.
Smoked salmon with sweet potatoes was delicious.
Really enjoyed the soup and salad combination. Will try some different combinations next time. Unfortunately, the waitress took my salad away and did not return with a box. Maybe she thought I was done.
Overall a reasonably priced experience for Ann Arbor restaurant week. Food was a little salty and they were out of certain items that were supposed to be on the menu but everything was good. Definitely recommend!
Good food. Good service. We were taking advantage of the community's "restaurant week" to try something new at a reasonable price.
I didn't appreciate the black Bentley convertible parked in the handicap spot (without a sticker). (My wife needed that spot.) However, that didn't surprise me. Regular people don't seem to be the clientele they want to attract. If you are in the mood for Chivas Regal 18 and have a platinum American Express (and a Bentley), this is the (regular) place for you.
Went for restaurant week. First issue, wrong size beer brought to the table. Told our wait person, so they would make a correction on our bill. Then ordered one of the choices for restaurant week. My potato was cool, broccoli was cold and tuff Steak was perfect. My husband's meal was fine. Our dessert was great. When our bill came, I let the server know the mistake about the beer again, we were also charged for salad and dessert, which was supposed to be included in the 3 course meal. The wait staff said they would take care of it. But did not remove the cost of the salad. Look at your bill. I won't be going back during restaurant week again. But will go during a slower time, like lunch.
This was our first visit to Carlyle. We've dined at a few other Main Street facilities, with mixed results, but Carlyle was excellent. Great menu, everything we ordered was delicious, and there's a lot of other items we would like to try. We'll be back.
