Food was great... service was excellent..... we had a group of 7 on a very crowded night and they handled us in a timely and professional manner. Our reservation was handled perfectly.
We stopped in for a quick dinner while in Ann Arbor. Our server, Kelly, was super busy but attentive to us. Our meals arrived quickly, were cooked to order and were hot. Nice work in the kitchen! It was a noisy crowd on a Friday evening before a football game. Not always so loud. This is a good solid restaurant.
Great salad! Service was ok, not great. Probably better for everyday dining.
Worked great with three generations. Staff was great
I have to say this restaurant was highly rated. We found it to be a meal mill. So crowded, loud and the food was a bit ridiculous. The portions were gigantic and not very tasty. I guess if you were going to The Caryle Grill to have enough leftovers for a week the value is fantastic. We personally like restaurants that have healthy, tasty and fresh options. I don't want to be too critical because certainly a lot of people really like it. We will not be going back and would not recommend it to our freinds. Our waiter was really nice and attentive. The rest of the helpers seemed to be unpolished and could use some training.
Have dined here many times with great satisfaction. This time the food was sub par. Special was very very spicy which was not told to us when we ordered. Also ordered a steak which was not cooked to our order so they took it back and brought us a very undercooked one the second time. They did make it right and gave us a complimentary dessert for our patience. Just wasn't what we are accustomed to at this restaurant. We chalked it up to a bad night. Waiter and manager were great though
Lump crab cakes were delicious! Brussels sprouts amazing! Very good dinner!!
The Carlyle Grill is turning into one of our favorite west side Ann Arbor eateries, especially before or after a movie. Food and service is always excellent. Short ribs and the carrot cake are just two of my favorites. Great spot for lunch too.
Positive notes are : nice decor quality vs price good choice great service
Negative notes are : too noisy , steak and fries choice steak was not tender at all too dry
Have been here many times and overall a great place for varied selection for a diverse group of eaters. They are very accommodating. Today the coff 3 overall wad over salted. This included the pot roast and the Cobb Salad which was not as good as normal. Spare Ribs and Rotisserie chicken very
Reviewed the menu and saw many good choices. Service was great- ask for Trace! Took great care of us and even though we are from out of town, we will go back. Don’t forget the carrot cake for dessert
The Carlyle Grill is a pale simulacrum of a metropolitan grill. Menu items sound interesting, like a chicken quesadilla, but the reality is like something a cook who had only ever read a rough description of a quesadilla would offer up. Portions are huge, and the service is impeccable, but delightfully served huge portions of bad food doesn't make a good meal experience. The always-available French onion soup would benefit from an acquaintance with Gruyere cheese, rather than a local substitute. Better meals are readily available in the area.
Great meal, great service. Can always count on Carlyle for a good dinner.
Our latest dinner for two was up to the excellence we have come to enjoy at Carlyle over these many years. The salmon is always expertly prepared, and sides such as mac & cheese, slaw and salads make for a very satisfying dinners. My wife typically has one of the small plate items for dinner as she loves them all. I like martinis and manhattans when dining out and the Carlyle bar staff repeatedly have shown that they know their craft.
Bravo, Carlyle, and many thanks.
Celebrating August birthdays b
We were able to sit in the section where they open the glass, floor to ceiling doors. during the nicer weather they should make this part of their restaurant available for dining guest instead of just catering. We have tried to sit out there before, and they always seem to have it closed even when there isn't an event going on. Living in a climate where there are only 5 months a year where it is possible to sit outside it's important. The service was great. The food was good. not anything outstanding just solid. overall, i would recommend this restaurant.
Fabulous!! Everything was exceptional. It was my Wife’s Birthday and we couldn’t have had a better experience!!
Well Done, Carlyle Grill!!
Great food and great service
Carlyle Grill remains a very good value and a great place to eat and drink. We spend a lot of time out west of town, and Carlyle is a great diversion.
Never been there but impressed by staff, bar & delicious meal
It was lovely.
Really great service, really great food. Large portions.
Great for a large group with outdoor seating
Food was good, service was prompt. They have delicious
Great service and meal!
Very good food, great service.
We met up with some out of town relatives that were passing through on their way up north. We haven’t seen them in years so we spent a lot of time visiting. Our waitress had the patience of a saint and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. She never rushed us one bit. Thank you so much for a great meal and atmosphere conducive to a long visit. :)
We loved the food but it is way too noisy. "Energetic" does not describe it. "Painful" would be better. Impossible to have conversation, and the restaurant was only half full while we were there. Seniors, dates, friends, forget this if you want to talk. Just not possible.
Love that food is sourced locally - had not been here before and was not aware of this which is very important to many people. Food was tasty. Lovely decor and atmosphere
What a great surprise GEM of a restaurant. We booked a table for my birthday based on reviews and that it was open on Memorial Day. We didn't know what to expect. Wow were we surprised! everything was delicious, our server was A++ and the value was more than expected. We loved the local ingredients that flavor the menu choices. Can't wait to go back. Oh, and my dessert was free - and amazing - excellent tiramisu! and I am a pastry chef so I'm a tough critic.
We dine here often and have never been disappointed! The service is great, and the food is always excellent.
We were in Ann Arbor on Sunday to take our daughter out to dinner and wanted to get away from campus to try something we had not been to already. Overall, we enjoyed our experience here. We had fish & chips, a burger and chicken tender platter all of which were enjoyable. I also had the creamy chicken soup which was quite good. The only downer to the experience was watching an elderly woman at a table next to us remove her teeth and place them on the table. However, can't fault the restaurant for that. We would return again based on our experience and try to avoid sitting next to a teeth removal candidate.
Birthday celebration with book group
One of our 5 entrees came ice cold. One (short ribs) was very chewy - not tender at all. The waitress was not at all attentive. Very disappointing.
Great as always.. Hostess Deja is so nice and always has our table ready... our favorite restaurant...
Our party consisted of my wife, my daughter, her husband and their two children: 1 preschooler and a 5 month old. We were given a large corner booth which was perfect for us. We went there for a Mother's day dinner. We had 5:30 reservations and waited about 5-10 minutes, which wasn't too bad. The place was quite noisy but not so loud that we couldn't hear each other. I think the noise level may have been because it was packed with people, given the occasion. Our server was friendly & efficient, checking on us often. As far as the food, well - it was outstanding. Three of the four adults got some type of fish which we shared bites of and my son-in-law got the full rack of ribs which he raved about. The temperature in the restaurant was a little too warm, but overall it was a wonderful experience and we will return. Considering it is a 45 minute drive for us, that's saying a lot!
We have always had great meals, generous portions and great waitresses. Another thing we appreciate is, since we are in the seniors age group and don't eat large portions, they are very accommodating when we ask to split a sandwich.
Food was satisfying with many comfort type foods included. The 7 of us all had something different and no one left any significant amount of food on their dish! The beef short ribs over risotto was excellent! I would suggest, however, that less spices be used in the meatloaf.
Our family had been traveling and needed to meet up from different directions at a restaurant in Ann Arbor. After a web search we chose Carlyle's - overall we were not disappointed. They even let us stay there for a long while visiting with each other before heading back to the airport. Top all of that off with a very reasonable bill!
The food doesn’t justify the cost but overall a great experience.
We went for Mothers Day brunch and had the turkey dinner. Big pieces of real turkey carrots were wonderful and potatoes were excellent. The rose for mother’s day was a very nice touch. We go to the Carlisle fairly often and with good reason
