Carlos'n Charlie's - Las Vegas Ratings and Reviews
This place is on the casino floor but it was really a boring experience. Waiter seemed distracted and didn't check back with us after dropping off food. The bar looked like it was shut down even though it was dinner time. Food was fine but nothing exceptional.
I was with a large party and I think it's just ridiculous that this place can't offer separate tickets for their guest. Who wants to pay for ones entire ticket. We're in the 21st century people, surely you system can fix that problem. Texas does it everywhere.
We had a large group. We were greeted and served in good time but the restaurant was not very crowded at the time. One persons dinner did not come with the others and had to be cooked afterwards. It was fajitas that cook up quickly so she did not wait too much longer.
The fried ice cream is a favorite of mine! If you can sit out on the patio, much nicer than the dark and dingy inside seating. The servers have never been the most attentive, but that's my experience every time. If you are not in a rush and the weather is nice, sit outside and relax. The food is okay, but not the best Mexican on the strip.
Arrived at 630 for a quick dinner and a margarita. Their margaritas are all sadly based on sweet and sour mix which kills the taste of the ingredients. But such is life. But then a wave of people showed up and the restaurant was packed. I don't think they were staffed for a big run on a Sunday night. Everything went into slow motion and the noise level got well beyond conversational. The food was okay but pretty bland for our tastes. Charlie's Tacos were okay. The one mole dish my wife had was not a good mole. Our waiter apologized for the slowness and the fact that he all but disappeared. He was nice and we tipped him well. But I would be hard pressed to select this spot for a return dinner. There are just so many other choices.
The food was fine, nothing spectacular that stands out. Table side guacamole is always nice. Overall, $90 for 2 people to have dinner at a place that's exactly like any large chain is not a good value. I have no problem paying top dollar for top dollar food, but that's not this place.
We got a groupon for an entree and open bar for 4 hours. Everything was great, from being able to choose almost everything on the meal, to a nice cozy atmosphere. The only caveat is that our choice of drink was only one kind of lite beer and margaritas. The margaritas were poured into 2 foot tall carafes, was WAY too much slushie for me so I asked for a Double, which is actually way more than 2 ounces! My wife and I ended up getting sick later that night I believe from too much sugar so beware!
This was a great restaurant to go to while in Vegas! The food was really good and the music was loud and fun! The mango margarita was really great too! They do open later for a night club scene but it wasn't as good as I would've expected. I was hoping for country music like they played at dinner and it was all really old rap music. I wish they would've played more current or pop country music. It was not good dancing music. The maragaritas at dinner were great, but when we went back for the night scene the tequila tasted cheaper. There isn't a cover, but a required $20 all you can drink fee to get in. You can't get beer, only hard alcohol.
