With a sharp aesthetic and a nod to the classic bones of the former Basta’s/Tasty Freeze restaurants building, Carina Lounge is a modern, mediterranean earth-toned palate that envelops you in light and warmth.
In the end, it is a place for those who love to eat and drink. Carina invites guests into their “home”. To laugh and engage as family and friends. To feel good and enjoy fare that takes you back to a place of comfort, both familiar and familial. Small plates to allow for sharing and the ability to have many flavors. Cocktails, Wine and Beer from Europe and Oregon, that pair with the seasonal influences of Carina's menu.

I had a great time. Very nice service.
Carina was great!! Amazing food. Great social hour deals. There was an event that made it extremely loud and difficult to talk to the people we dined with but other than that, it was great.
Our “go to” place in the area. Great food, drinks and service!
FANTASTIC!! Staff, food, drinks all Top notch! We always feel like we are home when we are there and we visit Carina often! Highly highly recommended! BUT you must save us a seat!
Delish! Always a great meal at Carina! The goat cheese ravioli is a dish everyone should try before they die. It's that good!
Love this place. Service is friendly and efficient. They try hard! The food is delicious... the goat cheese ravioli, prosciutto pizza and hamburger are superior. They grind their own beef in the kitchen for the burger and top with crispy fried onions. We haven’t had a bad meal yet and we’ve gone there a lot.
Great place to foodies outstanding and service is over the top
We had happy hour a couple nights ago and said outside. My husband ordered the happy hour burger which was very generous in size with a side of fries. It was extra delicious with wonderful cheese and lots of great veggie toppings and it appeared to be kitchen ground meat. I had the steak bites And they came cooked to perfection medium rare with a beautiful side of fingerling potatoes. The Aeolian dipping sauce was wonderful. I also ordered the fried cauliflower which came with a delightful red pepper dipping sauce. I had a housemate Jen and tonic which was delightful along with a glass of the house read which was an excellent Italian wine. My husband had Brickside IPA and loved it. We have dined inside several times and outside before here and love it year-round!
Fabulous, only way to describe our dinners there while visiting Portland. Great food, great service.
Delicious. Knowledgeable friendly staff. We love this restaurant!
We celebrated my daughters 25 birthday party last night and had a wonderful evening. Met with smiles and showed us to our table right away. The staff was very attentive and friendly, but not over bearing and hovering. We waited for a few family members so the pace was never pushy. Shared appetizers were delicious! Cauliflower, beet salad and flat bread to die for! We also shared the chicken and my son inhaled his burger. The fries are very tasty as well. Thank you so much for a lovely and memorable evening even though the birthday girl was not feeling well, she kept hydrated with the soda water. We love this friendly homey neighborhood place with delicious fair priced yumminess. See you soon, XX Jonie and Garrett Peck
Loved the cocktails and small plates. Goat cheese ravioli was heavenly. This venue is a bit too dark on the inside, which might not be to some people's liking. We had a group of 6, our server was awesome and everything that we ordered came out fast. We had a great time overall.
We are definitely fans of Carina for the varied and excellent food options and personable service: however, I was really disappointed to have a dog come in and dine beside me. There is outdoor seating so dogs could dine outside - not inside please.
Seemed understaffed from a wait person perspective. Food was excellent and employees friendly.
Great food in a festive atmosphere. Groups are accommodated well. Service is excellent. Highly recommend this lovely restaurant for any occasion.
We came for an early dinner at 5:45 before a concert and were delighted to discover that we could use the Happy Hour menu in the dining room. We ordered the pork tenderloin over polenta, the goat cheese ravioli, the brussells sprout salad, and the steak bites for the table. All were excellent and only $6 each. we also ordered the pizza and it was great too. There are many choices of wines by the glass and I had an excellent pinot.
we will definitely return.
Amazing service from everyone in the restaurant! Thank you!
Courteous, fun staff and great food. Grab a bottle, sit down to some small plates and enjoy the decor.
We went for Portland Dining Month. We had two different starters, mains and desserts. The starters (salad and stuffed dates) were each quite flavorful. The mains (mussels and raviolis) were also very good. The desserts were ho-hum, and came to us nearly a half hour after finishing other food. The waitperson was not very attentive. The wine list was quite broad, interesting and very well priced.
My wife and I went for my birthday. We'd always been curious to check out this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The server was incredibly nice and friendly and gave good wine recommendations. Food was excellent. We'll absolutely be going back!
Went for a Portland dining month and it was one of the best dining experiences. Wonderful selection of wine and craft cocktails with a variety of small plates. Great location with parking lot! Make sure you get the beef carppaccio and the stuffed dates. Pasta was killer
It was really good and service was great.! The noise level is not good but it’s a lively place so don’t expect a quiet night
Carina Lounge is fantastic. The food is excellent, the service can only be described as impeccable, and the atmosphere is a blend of hip and laid back friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant, as the menu is varied and accessible to everyone. Definitely an evening well spent!
We had our best Portland Dining Month experience at Carina. Food was delicious, wine pairings outstanding, and service friendly and prompt.
It was such a wonderful surprise. Best service we have and in awhile. Great value.
Best meal we’ve had in Portland. The goat cheese ravioli is amazing.
out of all the options in Portland, I probably won't come back here. It wasn't horrible, but also was not great. We did the dining month menu and ordered all 3 items ahead and the evening still took 2 hours. Way too slow service.
Food was good but not anything amazing.
Value of the $33 dining month menu literally equaled the prices listed a la cart on their menu so we should have had better service, not worse.
Come here during the social hour times (which seem like they are pretty much all night!). Great drinks and cheap small plates that really weren't all that small! The calamari, pizza, shrimp in tomato sauce, and steak bites were among our favorites. The burger looked amazing as well. The fried cauliflower was a little heavy for my taste and I would have preferred a different sauce. The espresso with vanilla ice cream dessert was the best I've had in a long time.
We had an 8:30 reservation and despite the crowd thinning out, service was slow out of the kitchen. When a cheese plate takes 45 minutes something is wrong.
Staff was great. Goat cheese ravioli was incredible. Only disappointment was the carrot cake - not really cake but two dry muffins stuck together with frosting. Go for the flourless chocolate cake instead. But overall worth a stop (ravioli!)
Food was amazing, especially the goat cheese ravioli. Service was a bit slow but this was during Portland dining month so no biggie. A bit on the loud side, considering how small the place was.
Everything was so tasty here! They had a wonderful preset menu for Portland Dining Month and great cocktails. We'll definitely be back!
Found an absolute gem during Portland Dining Month and will definitely be back! A++
Gaylen (sp?) was awesome. Enjoyed her very much. Staff attentive to clearing plates and filling water. And those damn goat cheese ravioli.... what kind of Harry Potter magic was that dish?
Overall it was a pleasant experience. The waitress was attentive and willing to relocate us to a window seat where we could people watch.
They were busy but food and drinks came within reasonable wait and didn’t disappoint.
Food got mixed and came late - but the waiter gave a free pour of wine :-) Food is good but fries were soggy.
We had reservations for 8pm and when we arrived on time our table was not ready. We didn’t get seated until 8:25. Then we didn’t get asked to order our drinks until 8:45pm. Then we asked for the manager at 910pm when we still hadn’t even been asked to order dinner. Many of us ordered the 3 course meal with wine pairings and the wine would come way before the meal. It took 30-40min at least in between each meal course to be served. We got the restaurant at 8pm and left at midnight....that’s how long it all took. It was very very dark and very loud in the restaurant as well. We did not have a good experience at all.
We made a reservation a week prior to dining for a special occasion. Upon our arrival the restaurant was very busy and we were kept waiting for almost 20 minutes until being seated. We sat at the table for a full 30 minutes before water was poured and a wine order was taken. We both ordered wine and the three-course meal, including two small plates to be served ahead of the first course. The two small plates arrived a full hour later. The table to our left and right were both served. At the ninety minute mark our server came by and asked if the salads had been served which we replied “no”. The server left and returned and indicated that the next two courses would be skipped because the entrée was ready. At the two hour mark I asked to speak to the owner and indicated that we would be leaving. The owner indicated that we would not be charged for what had been delivered and we left the restaurant without being served dinner.
TLDR : 2 hours for a wine order + appetizers before calling it.
We went for Portland Dining Month & we know that means it will be busy, esp for a group of 6. But that's why we made a reservation.
45 min after our reservation time, we were finally seated (apparently, the two top next to our 4 top was taking a long time to wrap up). Food just took a LONG time to arrive, cocktail orders were lost (apparently given to another table?) and one entree came after the rest of us were finished with our entrees.
The host did offer us free drinks and they did provide a free appetizer and $40 off our total bill as an apology for the delays; we certainly appreciated that.
AMAZING. I would go again in a heartbeat (not for dinner, esp on a weekend). The brown butter ravioli was incredible. The pork tenderloin was delicious. Even the burger was excellent. Overall an excellent meal and I would absolutely recommend it.
Amazing food and great atmosphere! The owner was also there and super nice and helpful.
