The art deco bar, leather banquettes, warm orange walls, and antique mirrors make Caribou Café your destination for Lunch, Dinner and Brunch.
Live music Fri and Sat.
Best True French Bistro in town!
Terrific food and service. Closing the eyes, one could be in Paris.
We had not been to the Caribou Cafe in a couple years, but the experience was as we remembered it. The food was good, the service was good, and the noise level was tolerable. We were there on a Friday night. We sat upstairs - the downstairs bar area is a little more noisy. The butterfish special was outstanding. The onion soup was very cheesy, but not very tasty. Salads were large and very good. It's a good place if you're going to the theater practically next door.
Delightful authentic French bistro cuisine and ambiance. Excellent food and drink, decent prices, comfortable and easy.
Wonderful Saturday evening at Caribou Cafe - and we were able to sit outside since the weather cooperated! Food and server were both excellent!
They are consistent. The meals echo a bistro in France, as does the ambience. The table adjacent to us was unusually loud, thus my rating of noise level.
Hopefully it was just a bad day but the food was not great. Everything had too much salt in/on it.
we have eaten here many times for Saturday Brunch and this was our first disappointment
Caribou Cafe is a "go to" prior to our Matinee show. This visit we were presented with the first day of their spring menu. One in the party ordered the always superb quiche of the day and salad. Two of us opted for a new offering "Shrimp and Avocado Bellvue." The description of the dish by the wait staff was a bit off.....but no problem......it was delicious. Listed as an appetizer, but we found it sufficient for our needs......add a salad and you're set. The raspberry sorbet was special as well. Wait staff and overall personel are super attentive and friendly. We like it.......can you tell?
Excellent food and service! Third time we have eaten at Caribou Cafe. Never disappoints.
Good French Bistro food in Washington Square. Our go to place for theater night.
I go to Caribou for the quiche. It’s delicious- light and custardy. I love the way the place looks and the service is excellent.
Incredible food -- the salmon salad was outstanding!!
Excellent and friendly service.
The location is perfect for theater - goers.
It was my first time there and it was wonderful! Our waiter was awesome, the food was delicious and we lucked out because it was a beautiful afternoon and they opened the wall to outside seating! Definitely going back and would love to do dinner next time!
We were going to a performance at the Walnut Street Theatre and this is always a good choice, either before or after the show. This time we went to Brunch, which was enjoyable. There were a variety of choices, either breakfast or lunch. There were 5 of us. A couple had the Quiche of the day, a few had the seafood crepe and another had the Croque Monseur. Everything was good and our server was excellent. You also get a discount if you are attending the Walnut.
Always a wonderful dinner at Caribou Cafe - we love the Mussels frites especially! Service is friendly and attentive but not overbearing.
Food was good, but they ran out of first choice of ribeye steak.
Service was not very good and they didn't clean up tables after people left.
As always food and service was great. Entree could have used a little more seasoning but still tasty.
We enjoyed the food and our server was very pleasant. However, she wast covering too much territory. Food was delivered without utensils to eat it. No water until we asked for it. Confusion about our check. It could have been better....
Great curry mussels!!!
Great food. Efficient and professional staff. Perfect place for before or after theatre dining.
LOVED the onion soup & the caesar salad. The paparedelle was disappointing. Veggies were tasty on the top of a large plate of pasta.
Our server(Walter) was attentive but not intrusive.
The atmosphere was quiet enough...not too much noise.
Will be glad to return!
Just very hot up on the second level. We should have asked to move downstairs as it was a good 10 degrees lower on the first. Service was great and food very good.
I must admit that the servers were very diligent and helpful. The place was not so clean where we were sitting. For lunch I ordered a lamb burger and had requested a different type of bread but was told this was the only option. When the people next to us ordered the same thing they were, by some miracle, able to choose the type of bread they wanted. My wife had ordered the fish but was not impressed with the meal as the bacon was not cooked through.
Great spot with delicious food and plenty of variety on the menu to suit a range of tastes.
Working in Philadelphia for 10 days. Caribou Cafe was recommended by colleague..pleasant atmosphere. Varied menu. I’d happily return!
Great brunch place -we enjoyed the quiche, omelets and Eggs Benedict. Mamossas were good, too!
Horrible horrible food. French onion soup flavorless no taste. Could have been Lipton. Cheese burnt on top. No noticeable croutons/bread. Steak was so bland I didn’t think it was possible. Shallot sauce again tasteless. Same with frites. They need to really to go back to Julia child 101 French basics. Not a spice or herb to be found. Service fine. Wine excellent
We always have lunch after the Flower Show at Caribou. The quiche and salad are great. The quiche is very light and fluffy-not sure how they do it but we always order it every time.
Good French bistro food. Staff very polite and helpful . It was sooo French that there was even a teacup Maltese terrior in the next both. ( Not to worry. He was a certified companion dog even though he had removed his best ). Clientele also pleasant.
We go regularly for Saturday Brunch.
Never had it before but mushroom and he crepe superb.
Excellent food, great environment and service. Will definitely be back in the future. I did not expect the French experience by the name of the restaurant, but everything was outstanding.
Fantastic food. Wonderful ambience. Gracious staff. It's a great place for a pre-theatre/concert dinner as it is centrally located to the Kimmel Center, the Academy, etc.
Our decision to dine at the Caribou Cafe following the Saturday matinee theater show with some friends was a great decision. Our friends had never been, whereas I had been many times before. The escargot was amazing, the meals were delicious and the ambiance was just right.
Lunch was delicious and reasonably priced. The service was impeccable and friendly. I would highly recommend this destination.
I went for the Beef Burginoin, and was very disappointed. It was really beef stew with very poor quality meat. The mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box. My wife's goat cheese salad was good. Dessert crepe was OK, but made much better by the waiter who gave it to me for free for my birthday. The decor is starting to look a little tired. Not so surprising that it is easy to get a reservation at the Caribou Cafe.
food is always good. the kitchen was a bit distracted and forgot one of our entrees, but threw in a free dessert to make up for it.
My friends meat was undercooked and very chewy.
We got an apology and a discount.
Came for Valentine's Day. As always, was great. Shared the bacon flammenkuche, then had the lamb burger with side salad. He had the moules frites with curry. Great wines and good service!
We loved the ambiance, the food and the service, very nice, definitely will return
It feels like a nice neighborhood hang, with reliable comfort food, a decent glass of sparkling wine, and a great vibe. And you can actually have a conversation with people—no head-banging music.
We have eaten many times at Caribou. This visit was a bit of a disappointment. Two of our party had The Croque Monsieur and found it was not nearly as good as in years past. I wonder if the chef has changed? The seafood crepe was good and the burger too. Service was a little slow.
The food at Caribou Café is consistently good and it's a really good place to go mid-afternoon between lunch and dinner when so many places are closed or offer a very limited selection. Caribou Café has a nice menu and plenty to satisfy most palates.
