Quiche du Jour
Great dining experience in a small restaurant while looking for something different to celebrate a change in work.
The food is authentic and classic French cuisine. Very well prepared. Nice atmosphere.
Wonderful cocktails and yummy food
Table for two was near stairs but there was no table too close. We had the muscles with garlic and white wine, they were great as well as the mushroom crêpe, rich and delicate. And the French 75 cocktail was perfect, good ambulance for a date.
Wonderful food, drinks, service and ambience. Like being in a small Parisian restaurant.
Ad reservations. Arrived on tim.Waited at the time. For 15 minutes. We then waited for a drink for 15 minutes. Table was dirty. Got up and left. Went to Parc instead and it was exq.
Dinner after the Philly half marathon
Great food and drink list. Kai was a great server. Great ambiance. Will definitely go back.
Great place to eat! Loved the crab cake breakfast sandwich and desert crepe.
Consistently excellent food. Sat at the bar for dinner for the first time - and was just as special as sitting at a table. He made special drinks for us that were amazing! We got there late and had play tickets. They were able to get our meals and drinks effortlessly and quickly. I just love this place ❤️
I ordered the special - brisket sandwich. Half of it was gristle. I mentioned it to the server but he said nothing. It was served to my table very late and I didn't have time to order something else. So disappointed.
Nice ambiance, good food, solid choice for a business or casual lunch around Jefferson.
This place has been my favorite for years. This time I was Disappointed. Tuna was a overdone, my husband’s fries were pale yellow almost white and tasted like they were just taken out of a frozen bag. My daughter’s seafood crepe was not salted and bread pudding for dessert was cold.
always a wonderful gem for a mid-week lunch. quiet to have a conversation at a normal level, good food, attentive service and good prices.
Lovely food and gentle service. Very welcoming French experience. Scallops and mussels were wonderful.
Ahi tuna special was completely over cooked, given the situation it wasn’t practical to send the dish back. Quality of the Hangar steak cut of the steak frites dish cut was disappointing. Maybe the issue was the lateness of the hour and a Tuesday night.
We loved our lunch here. The ambience is really cozy and nice. Service was excellent and the food was great! We’ll definitely be back!
Great menu and great food
I love Caribou. Every time I visit Philly I stop here for lunch. Superb food and wonderful French bistro atmosphere.
I am a single mom. Every few weeks I like to take my daughter out to a nice meal to show her that woman can do anything they want and can be independent. We haven’t been able to go for a couple months so I made a reservation for brunch yesterday. We were very excited to have our gals day together. When we arrived we were seated immediately by a very nice server. I don’t remember her name but she had blond hair and was super sweet. Immediately another server came over and asked if we wanted anything else to drink. I ordered those and very soon after, ordered our food.
I ordered the onion soup and warm frise salad. And my daughter ordered the crepes brunch special. 30 minutes later I got my soup but my 6 year old still had no food. I asked them to please bring us some bread. Ten minutes later someone said “I am so sorry, her crepes will be out soon”. Ten minutes after that, her crepe showed up. Dry, with cooked apples on top. These were supposed to come with a mixed fruit compote, almonds, raspberry sauce, and vanilla ice cream. The server dropped the dry crepes and walked away. I had to wave her down to get the toppings. She never came back. The bartender ended up dropping the toppings off but by the time they arrived my daughters food was cold and hard. I could barely cut it up for her anymore. It’s now been an hour. I’ve watched the servers all hustling around serving all the other tables food and my salad never arrived.
I waved the original sweet server over and asked what was going on. Was I being ignored because we were just a mom and a young child? Sat right by the host stand and forgotten about? I said please cancel my salad, I just want to go. She said she’d take care of it and walked away never to be seen again. I saw her and the other server and the bartender discussing the issues behind me. Waited even longer to get whatever bill I was lucky enough to pay. Then had to get up and ask for it.
This was a bad experience. AndI’m still craving that salad
My husband and I had a lovely dinner here. Even though we were the only guests outside, they made sure the heaters were working and checked on us often. The food was delicious and of good value. Octopus salad was a standout, and the lamb burger was juicy and generously served with goat cheese and spinach, I believe. Pate was not as flavorful as expected, but improved with a wine pairing. Fries were also a little meh, so go with the salad! Great ambiance, too.
Love this restaurant- great atmosphere and great food!!
Just visited this place for the first time after the pandemic and we were pleased with the ambiance and food. They had fixed price menus, discounts on wine during Happy Hour and a good a la charge menu.
Convenient to transportation and the theater. However, the best feature is the food in this French bistro. The only problem is making a selection from their menu.....each offering enticing in it's own way......something for every food lover. Service prompt and cordial.
A quaint underrated cafe! Great food & ambience!
As always service and food we excellent. Been many times and always enjoy food, staff and ambiance.
Excellent food and service. Best value in Philly!
Food very salty; service good.
My sister and I enjoyed a wonderful meal at Caribou. We had extraordinary service and enjoyed the delicious scallop entree immensely. It was a beautiful evening and our experience was highlighted by being able to sit outside. Thank you all at Caribou for a fabulous job!
Everything was perfect. Including our fabulous server Eleanor! We will definitely be back!
A reliable French bistro in Market East, Caribou Cafe is unstuffy, welcoming and quiet. Their tradition of quality food, excellent service and good value continues despite the pandemic
We love it here. It's a perfect place for brunch or lunch before going to Walnut Street Theater.
Waitress was a little spaced out… but nice. Dropped a knife and requested a new one but never received it. Grabbed one from the next table. Asked us if we needed salt and pepper at the end of our meal.
Cheeseboard was fresh and good. Drinks were good as well. But it was very disappointing to order croque monsieur and get grilled cheese. No cheese melted on top as is typical of the dish- surprising for a French bistro. The bread was a tad too soggy, but toasty and crisp. The fries or frites were identical in taste and sight to the string fries you received from your school-age lunches in the cafeteria.
I would go back if they made some fixes. Bartender was incredibly kind.
Great quality for a fair price.
The food and service were excellent, a little noisy, but quieted down later.
Good French food in a cozy bar atmosphere. Staff is great.
First experience was quite satisfying. I would definitely return when I'm in Philadelphia.
Nice dinner before show at Walnut Street Theater. The lamb burger was especially delicious! My husband enjoyed the octopus salad as well.
This place has very French Bistro vibes.
The wine selections were very limited - surprising for a french restaurant.
Food was wonderful and service excellent. Among our group, we had Escargot, French Onion Soup, Loin of Lamb, Mussels, Steak Frit, and a fish filet. All four of us were raving about what we ordered. We requested an outside table, so at times a little noisy (hospital nearby) but otherwise very nice. Interior beautiful with a French flair. For those concerned about covid, on the very pleasant evening we were there, the whole front wall of the restaurant was opened up, so even inside tables were well ventilated.
