   We were a bit disappointed. First we struggled to find it as it was poorly signed and tucked right at the back of the hotel next to the spa. The lighting was so poor, we had to pull out our phone to read the menu. Noise level wasn’t great as a sort of large fan/dehumidifier was running in one of the rooms so we asked to be sat as far away as possible. The food was good but we could not see what we were eating as the lighting so low. We thought we treat ourselves to a nice restaurant and were disappointed by the whole experience and left pretty quickly. The choice of soft drinks was also very limited. Overall we felt it was overpriced and not the best experience.

   My husband and I enjoyed our dinner at Zen Garden. The food was delicious, service was quick and as a coeliac, all questions were answered and I was well catered for. I would recommend it to anyone who is staying at Careys Manor hotel.

   Excellent food in perfect surroundings with attentive staff. A little overpriced. This is the only part of this hotel which is up to standard.

   The wine is sold by the glass in 125ml or 175ml. I asked the waiter if they did 250ml as that was the amount I wanted with the meal. He replied no, but I could always order 2 x 125ml glasses! I was rather taken aback! Buying 2 separate glasses would be very uneconomic and the unhelpful comment coloured my perception of the whole experience. I settled for one 125ml glass and water!

   It’s supposed to be a Thai restaurant but outside garden is definitely Japanese and the inside decor is a bit Chinese. Quite small and dark inside - it’s almost just an add-on to the spa rather than a proper restaurant. Menu is very limited and portions are small. Favour is OK but nothing you can’t do at home with a supermarket Thai curry pack. Service is good. On a whole, there’s nothing to attract you to come back again.
