Care Free Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Had a reservation for Valentine's Day. My husband died in January and a friend was in from California for support. We HAD a reservation. We got to the restaurant and it was CLOSED. DARK. NO NOTE ON DOOR. Very sad. If they went bankrupt, they could have at least been nice about it. Very sad. No recourse I guess.
I reserved a table at 11 for Sunday brunch February 4th with family and friends. We noticed the parking lot was empty and the restaurant closed. The giant banner out front says "Now open For Brunch!" Not a single note or sign of why the business was closed. Another couple arrived moments after us and had the same experience.
We arrived at Care Free Bistro 5 minutes before our reservation only to find the restaurant dark, door locked and a sign indicating that they were CLOSED. Very disappointed that we were not contacted as this was a Saturday night and finding another restaurant without a reservation was difficult. Guess they have gone out of business!?
My wife had the lamb shank, and I had the pork chop. Both were delicious & done just how we like. Our server was the owner, and he did a great job - made it a nice intimate experience, and took care of our needs very well. Overall a good choice, and we will return.
Some friends joined us for a late lunch following the Carefree Wine and FIne Art Festival. My girlfriend and I had salads - hers with beets and mine was the Greek Salad - both with chicken. We thought they were wonderful - and just the right size. The soup special was a cauliflower purée - also wonderful. Husbands had penne - they raved. This is our 3rd time here in the last 3 weeks! And we will be back!
We had a fabulous meal at the Carefree Bistro! What a treat! Terrific wine list and inspired menu. My husband had the risotto of the day and I had the Veal Tortolacci. We can’t say enough about the preparation and flavor. Finally - the baklava for dessert was the best ending to a fabulous meal. We will be back!
Carefree Bistro has been a favorite of ours for several years, and is certainly one of the best fine food restaurants in the “north of North Scottsdale” area. The service is professional, the waitstaff friendly & knowledgeable and the food is fresh and always perfectly prepared. Worth a visit!
What a refreshing addition to the Carefree/Cave Creek dining scene. Mediterranean food done properly , using beautiful ingrediants. The staff was lovely - knowledgle and friendly. Hummus and pita amazing, beautiful salad - delicious soup. I cant wait to to back for more ...
The wine prices are fair. The octopus appetizer was hot but not the usual tendrils, it was big rectangular pieces, tuff and not tasty. The veal ravioli's are delicious, fresh red sauce and pasta that was fresh and delicious. The lighting is to bright in the dining room and the feel is more like a breakfast place. New management just took over, and the service has improved 100%! Maybe a sculpture in the center of the room? something to give it more ambiance.
Carefree Bistro is a hidden gem located in Carefree's Sundial Plaza. Service is always kind and impeccable and the food is very good---tonight wasn't perfect for my husband---he got his usual chicken and prawns and said it wasn't as great as usual, but I got the Veal Tortelacci instead of my usual "House Risotto" and it was UNBELIEVABLY delicious. Fabulous little veal stuffed pillows of pasta nestled in a delicious sauce. Wow! But I forgot the starter; we shared the tuna tartare, and that was fresh and lively and oh, so yummy. We finished with the profiteroles, which were just stupid good and I'd stop in for them and a cup of coffee any night!
This was our first visit here and we were very surprised when we arrived to see only one car in the parking lot. Once inside, there was only one table of 4 in the whole restaurant. This was a Saturday, and even during the summer months most places are still busy. Obviously, we got great service since the place was empty, but how was the food? I happy to say that the food was very good. Everything was fresh and tasted great. So why the poor turnout? I suspect that the prices might be a tad high for the area. I had the Moussaka which was $26, which is way overpriced. I'm Greek and have had Moussaka a thousand times in my lifetime and never paid this much for it. Our bill with tip came to $150 with a moderately priced bottle of wine. At this price, I expect to be in a fine dining establishment. Not that this wasn't a nice place, but not at the prices they are charging. I really don't know how they can keep the doors open with no customers. Even when we were leaving around 7:30, there were zero people in the dining room and just 2 people sitting at the bar.
Time after time we have visited this wonderful restaurant and not once have we been disappointed. The staff is always been attentive and friendly, and this must be a reflection of the owners. The menu is often updated and the offerings are always diverse and well thought out. The quality and freshness of the ingredients turn simple dishes into something very special.
We discovered this restaurant in a few years ago. Their location is in the Carefree shopping area however a little off the beaten path. They have both inside and outside dining. We have found their food is always creative and very consistent. Their staff is always friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating.
