We started with the EVOO Tasting- 4 oils paired with 4 small bites was exceptional. Two of the pairings were unusual, cottage cheese & pickled onions & worked amazing well. Agnolotti with beef cheeks & garganelli with rabbit ragu were delicious & satisfying accompanied by glasses of Aglianico del Vultura. Service was excellent. We look forward to a return visit.
What a wonderful find. The food was delicious, the service was perfect. We will be back.
The service is wonderful. From the hostess Nina to the servers, everything is on point and they really care to make sure you have a great dining experience. The food is generally good. My friends enjoyed their meals. I don't think I chose well. While my tuna tartare appetizer was good, I ordered the tagliolini with clams. The server was very kind to let me know that there would be enough clams in the dish, and there
were in fact, plenty of clams, but unfortunately, i was so disappointed since the clams were tough and very chewy. And the pasta was overly salty. I have been cooking linguine clams for many years. Clams can get tough very fast if over cooked. Its pretty much a rule in my family and amongst friends that you do not put the fresh clams in till the very last couple minutes. It only takes a minute to cook a fresh clam and that is how you get tender clams in your linguine. I completely assumed from the excellent service that all the dishes would be equally outstanding. This dish was not good. But despite that, the overall experience of Cardoncello diVino was a great one.
Went here for Valentine's Day and the experience was incredible. The restaurant is beautiful, the food probably some of the best we've had in the city (which is a tall claim I know!), the service was perfect - and the staff are incredibly attentive and respectful. Would go back here in a heartbeat. A definite contender for a Michelin next year.
PS: The homemade pasta is amazing and definitely try the Cardoncelli mushroom - it is truly divine.
The experience was such a nice surprise. I met two clients there and none of us had dined at Cardoncello before, so we had no expectations other than that the reviews had been more than favorable. Our server was amazing and also from Apulia, which is the cuisine of the restaurant. The ambience was fresh, contemporary without being cold, and the sound level was quiet enough to have a conversation, but with cool music playing as well. The tuna tartare was fresh, crisp and wonderful. The monk fish in a light mustard sauce was one of the best dishes I've had in a while. Angolotti with brazed beef was perfectly seasoned and the pasta was excellent! The shrimp in black ink with farrotto was also excellent. The wine list is extensive and there were wonderful choices from the lesser known Apulia region. It was a perfect evening and we will all be back again....
Love this restaurant! The food is excellent... I've had several of the pastas, appetizers, and meat dishes, and they're all interesting, flavorful, and authentic. The service is excellent and the staff are friendly and helpful with recommendations. The wine list is very extensive and we were given helpful advice about selecting a bottle, even though we were not looking in a very expensive range... no one tried to upsell us beyond our budget and we got an excellent wine. I also had my company's holiday dinner here and they managed everything with our group of 20. High marks all around.
Owner and sommelier spent time with us that made the experience exceptional
It was great. Food delicious, staff friendly and nice service
Although made a reservation was seated at the first table in the dining room which ended up being a bit drafty. Food was solid (we had 2 different pasta dishes) but not unbelievable. Had 2 glasses of wine and mentioned first was not that good and seemed like a light pour.
cozy and personable with great food and engaging staff
Very nice neighborhood gem of a true, authentic Italian restaurant - I loved all the fresh, unique pasta dish options, my agnolotto was delicious! Impressive wines by the glass selection, most offered at a reasonable price for midtown. The service was warm and friendly and attentive. I will be back.
We couldn’t have been more pleased with our dinner at Cardoncello. Our server was so knowledgeable and attentive. The smoked negroni was innovative and delicious and each of our courses were a sensory pleasure of the highest order. I have not enjoyed an evening of fine dining this much for even twice the price. Thank you for a wonderful evening. I could not recommend more highly. We will be back next time we are in NYC, no doubt!
Everything was delicious.
The entire experience was phenomenal. We had a group for 5 started with cocktails at the bar and moved to a table for dinner. The wine selected by Christian the manger was excellent (Barolo Gallinotto 2013) and reasonably priced considering its high quality. Both the appetizers and main courses were extraordinary. The atmosphere was lively and fun. Overall, we had wonderful evening. Five stars!
I liked Cardoncello di Vino. The food was good: it didn't blow me away, but it was expertly prepared and had good flavor (I had the wagyu beef cheek, which was crazy tender, but a little salty for my taste, and my date had the scallops, which were quite large and perfectly cooked). The ambiance was warm and inviting, a little romantic, without being over the top with pomp and flair. It had a nice energy and buzz about it, and the service was excellent. The prices were very fair. There are a lot of restaurants in NYC. If you are in the mood for Italian food, this is a solid choice.
I had a great time at Cardoncello. The food was fantastic, we had several dishes that had the namesake cardoncello mushrooms and the wine list was full of affordable selections.
Our server was knowledgeable, polite and not overbearing. The ambiance is definitely casual, it feels like you are in someone else's apt.
I would be back soon.
Probably the best service I’ve received at any restaurant. Was not in love with everything served, but that doesn’t mean that it was bad. We were exploring the menu. Specials, awesome, wine list fantastic!
as per usual, great food and very nice service! really glad to have the restaurant in the neighborhood.
I had a great night . Food is excellent and service very good . Friendly place.
Very nice, good service and food. Small size. Open kitchen feel is unnecessary and cheapened the atmosphere for us a bit as lighting was a bit harsh coming from the open window.
Outstanding experience! The EVOO tasting is a must.
On Saturday night, My daughter and I had dinner at Cardoncello diVino before a show at MSG! The staff at the restaurant were all warm, friendly and very attentive the moment we arrived! We sat at the bar and had the most delicious and creative cocktails by the bartender/mixologist Francesco! Every drink he made was of his own creation and own homemade organic orange marmalade, vanilla syrup, purées, and red wine reduction! He's like a scientist in a lab! Seriously this man is a genius!
I had the Winter menu and started with the Cardoncello with shaved truffles appetizer, (soooooo good), the spinach and ricotta Gnudi (homemade and delicious), the monkfish with grilled artichokes, (absolutely fabulous) and the pear tart for dessert, which was a perfect ending to an outstanding meal! Definitely we'll be back!
Can not say enough about this gem of a find. great food, service> felt like I was back home in Puglia!!!
Outstanding service, which is a hard to find in NYC. Potato soup was really good but not well some seasoned. The pasta was fresh and delicious. Overall was a great experience and I would definitely come back.
Dinner was fabulous! We had a wonderful table tucked away in a corner - noise level was low, the waitstaff were attentive and very knowledgeable about both the food and the wine. We both started with appetizers that were delicious - I had tuna tartare and my husband had the sea scallops. Then we had hand made fettuccine (which we split - great way to have a taste but not get too full). Our main courses were unbelievable - beef cheeks in this marvelous rich mushroom sauce with the meat literally falling off the bone and a lamb dish cooked in another wonderfully marvelous sauce. With our meal we had a reasonably priced Barbera from 2007 which came out at the perfect temperature. I repeat - it was a fabulous meal and I highly recommend Cardoncello diVino to anyone who wants wonderful Italian food!
Good service, although salt and pepper should be available without asking.
Delicious pasta, homemade and authentic. Interesting combinations of herbs and other ingredients.
Generally very good quality food.
My new favorite restaurant! The food, staff and ambiance are wonderful. I'm now looking for reasons to go into NYC just to have dinner here.
We went for my son-in-law's birthday. First time having dinner there and it definitely won't be the last. We were seated immediately per our reservation time. Our waiter was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. Six of us were dining and split 3 appetizers among us, all delicious. The lobster tagliolini special was fantastic, as were the shrimp and salmon entrees. Definitely did not need any side dishes as the entrees were more than enough. We all had desserts (crostata & ricottas cheesecake) and they were a perfect end to a scrumtious meal
Like eating in some ones home
Met a girlfriend for dinner. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious. They had a great wine list.
Delicious, fresh, authentic Puglia meal. Great experience!
Great Food and Service.
Just an incredible restaurant. I could not recommend it more!
Must try the nightly specials
Fantastic food in a stylish, intimate space. Attentive and knowledgeable service.
The food was absolutely delicious and the service was spectacular. I was raving about the steak special for 2 for days after, and have recommended the place for family and friends. I tend not to return to restaurants in Manhattan since there are so many to try, but would definitely go back!
Fabulous restaurant with a great ambience and the food was amazing!
Delightful, inventive Italian cuisine; attentive, friendly but not cloying service. Will definitely return often.
We have been to Cardoncello several times. Each time is special, and especially good. The combinations of the dishes, the quality of the materials used, and the geniality of the staff always come together to make a very happy evening ... Ron
Cardoncello di Vino is a wonderful restaurant! The food is amazing and the staff super kind!
The atmosphere is also excellent!
A must try!!!
