This place is a gem.
We’ve been there a couple of times and are trying new foods each time we visit. Have not been disappointed with their selection of appetizers, entree or desserts. Definitely a gem in Ventnor!!
Creative dishes with fresh ingredients. Knowledgeable and attentive waiter.
Outstanding food and service in a delightful environment
Fantastic brunch experience! The servers were fantastic and very accommodating. There were substitutions or alterations for members of my group that are gluten free, and everything was done with a smile! High caliber service is a rarity in snj... but this place check all the boxes and then some! A week later I’m still raving about the experience and planning my next visit! Spread the word, this place is the best! (Don’t skip the truffle fries!)
As always our meal was over the top, a magnificent blend of fresh ingredients, deliciously prepared with a novel touch.
Michael and Tom and their staff always make dining a pleasure.
Michael is most accommodating of my need to be gluten free.
Excellent food and service
I love the place and loved the soup, loved the shrimp and grits. Brussels sprouts are my favorite vegetable but I felt these were just a tad too sweet. The service could not have been better and the place is beautiful and spotless. Would definitely go again.
Everything at Cardinal Bistro was excelllent: atmosphere, service, food, etc. We cannot wait to come again.
The four of us loved everything about The Cardinal Bistro! Will be back often...our go to at the shore!
Welcoming and attentive staff. Innovative menu, artful presentation and delicious food.
I am never disappointed with the food at this restaurant. They change the menu just enough to keep it interesting. Really good food from the appetizers through to desserts
Food and service was excellent. Top notch restaurant. A little pricey, but good for special occasions
Outstanding as always. We have only had excellent meals and excellent service. Whether summer or off season it is always a well timed meal with amazing food.
Best Chef in the area. Cutting edge recipes and presentation. Amazing service.
Try it for yourself. No need to drive to NYC, Philly or Cape May.
Everything was Awesome!! Just love the food and the beat chef around!!
Wonderful food and service.
Everything was fantastic from start to finish. Chef Michael’s attention to detail was fantastically and every course was better than the last. We will be back.
Absolutely a special dining experience! The food was outstanding and Chef Michael even came out of the kitchen to be sure we were pleased. We will definitely be returning!!
The couple we were with had eaten there a couple times before and liked it! I decided to take them up on their recommendation. We were disappointed. The best thing that the four of us had eaten were the Brussels sprouts. Delish!! The $41 Cioppino was 90% mussels, 2 shrimp, 2 scallops...as far as the salmon dish that 2 of us had, we both agreed there was nothing special about it. Thank goodness for awesome wine and friends to make up for the disappointment.
One of my favorite, if not my favorite, restaurant. The food is outstanding. The ambiance is comfortable. The wait staff is unbelievably accomodating and friendly. The owner, Thomas, is always there to make sure you have a good dining experience. Truly worth the drive to the Jersey shore. Living there makes it even better.
Love the food the atmosphere and what a great staff.
The fixed price 3 course menu is a great value. Food was delicious. Loved the Brussels sprouts and flourless chocolate cake.
What a great meal experience. We were the only table seated in the place. (Slow winter night) We are adventurous eaters so we opted to let the chef design a meal for us. We had smoked chef salad. It was delicious, I had never had anything smoked under a dome before. Our appetizer was a house-made fettuccine with duck confit. It was delicious and a nice departure from traditional fettuccine carbonara. The entrees we had were day scallops over couscous and the duck breast cooked perfectly medium with beets, blackberries and a beautifully reduced sauce. We also had a deconstructed clam chowder soup. A delicious potato cake clams and cream soup base poured over the side. The flourless chocolate cake was amazing. I can also not say enough good things about our server Quay who told us about all of the menu items he had sampled and made some great recommendations. Truly a professional and very helpful. I will definitely be back to eat at Cardinal Bistro.
We had an exceptional evening at Cardinal Bistro! Chef Michael was outstanding! Our server, Quay, made our experience even better. Thank you Cardinal Bistro for giving us all the ingredients for a fantastic dinner with friends.
Consistently outstanding food as well as service. I consider this restaurant one of the best in the Atlantic City area.
The bistro was broken tonight
My boyfriend and I came in for brunch and the meal was ok. We were greeted immediately which was nice and taken to a table by the window. As we sat down we noticed crumbs on the chairs and windowsill, as well as under the table and the other tables around us. We couldn’t help but to think what the kitchen might have looked as far as cleanliness/neatness. The complimentary beignets were a nice touch, but weren’t cooked all the way, still had raw dough inside. The avocado toast was presented nicely, but was lacking with seasoning. The french toast wasn’t really anything special, it could’ve been served warmer and the mascarpone could’ve been a bit sweeter and smoother. The butter given with the dish looked like it was used by another table( barely any served and badly presented) and was given so much syrup it was overflowing from the demitasse. The ambiance was different, the server stations in view to the guests and we watched the man who greeted us sitting at one of the tables working on his laptop eating bread. Not sure if we would return.
absolutely terrific highly recommend food is wonderful
Incredible it’s such a wonderful treat to be able to enjoy a culinary adventure for lunch. The food and atmosphere are the best. Great value and always changing menu with locally sourced products. Love being able to enjoy either Lunch or Dinner here.
I continue to dine here on a regular basis and every time I go back I am simply amazed that they continue to surprise us with new dishes that are out of this world!!!
Wonderful as always!
This was our 4th or 5th visit to Cardinal Bistro. As always, we received a warm greeting and were seated immediately. We ordered the beet salad and roasted butternut squash agnolotti. Both were very good. My wife had the black sea bass and I had the scallops, and both were perfectly prepared. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and look forward to returning.
Very pleasant
Everything was absolutely excellent. Chef Michael and Owner created a wonderful addition to the shore food scene.
Great lunch experience with so few places open for lunch ... this is a real treasure. Especially great if you are trying to eat light in the evenings lets you enjoy a meal out in a wonderful setting earlier in the day ! Reminds me of bistro meals in France
Excellent food and service. The Brussels sprouts (shared among four), shrimp and grits (they know how to cook ochra), the duck and the filet entrees were all superb and expertly prepared. Lenny, our server, was delightful and added to our enjoyable experience through his enthusiasm and thoughtful description of the food. We will definitely return!
Third time at CB. Service was deplorable. Waited over 90 minutes for the entree. Waiter disappeared. Inquired and had owner make excuses. Not even an offer to comp the meal for waiting so long. Had been to this restaurant before and had decent service. Would never go back. Poor customer service.
My husband and I tried Cardinal Bistro on Saturday night. First, we were really impressed with the waitstaff. Our server, Chi, was knowledgeable and friendly and he kept checking back with us. I had the roasted celeriac for an appetizer, which was delicious. My husband had the foie gras rolled in oatmeal, which was better (for the money). For dinner, I had the bouillabaisse with squid ink pasta. It was delicious and contained a lot of seafood. It was just enough- perfect. Hubs had the roast duck and he enjoyed that as well. For dessert, we shared Cardinal's take on the Oreo which was two servings of two chocolate shortbread-type cookies with vanilla ice cream in the middle and covered with slices of assorted berries. We saw people we knew there and a couple we didn't know was very friendly. Acoustic versions of our favorite music filled the air and a mellow night was had by all. We'll be back.
