natural fabrics and charcoal exposed steel set the scene to the bustling cocktail and coffee bar. Caravan city has it’s own private dining room for up to 20 guests. The outdoor terrace looks over Bloomberg’s new European headquarters, with covered walkways leading to open squares and calming water installations.
Three friends met for dinner after work and felt the need for a cocktail to wind down from the day. The coffee daiquiri was delicious! We ordered 9 dishes to share, including crispy tofu ( much better than I expected), jamon croquettes and lamb meatballs. All dishes were good and left us feeling ‘treated’. A nice glass of wine to go with the food. We shared a dessert which was just enough sweetness with fresh mint tea. Service was friendly and timely.
Good spot adjacent to Cannon Street station. Decent food/coffee although slightly on the expensive side i.e. £14 for a chicken dish / main course.
Visited Saturday for a family birthday meal.
Food was good, some was great. Service was friendly, and we weren't in a rush which was good because I'd say the restaurant was down a staff member or two.
Biggest issue, which to be honest was little mindblowing was the heavy use of peanuts in the menu.....
My daughter has a sever peanut allergy which is a source of significant stess, and whilst the restaurant acknowledged it, a surpringly high number of items included peanuts.
Most surprising was to hear peanut oil was used for items that didn't obviously include nuts.
Is it really necessary to cook cauliflower in peanut oil ? And chicken wings ?
The uncertainty about what actually did and did not include nuts was a big cause of stress for my daughter, not to mention the reason for a lot of hand washing etc...
Not for anaphylactics...
Unbelievable food and service. Music good be a smidge quieter
Good food, energetic atmosphere but a bit loud if you want to have a proper catch up.
Exceptionally good service, attentive staff, and creative takes on classic dishes, using very good ingredients.
Delicious range of food. Perfect for sharing. Great service as well
Came here for brunch which was generally busy but got seated straight away. Was my first visit there and wasn't disappointed with the food or the ambience etc.The service however was pretty poor. The serving staff took a while to take our orders.Whilst we werent ina rush to leave, it took almost 15 mins to even get served at one point. The other side of the restaurant was busy and we were on a quieter side but that shouldn't defer the frequency of staff serving us.
Had a great experience overall and hoping the service was a one off!
Good place for a brunch in the centre of London. Good food, nice waiters, good overall experience.
We enjoyed our meal, the food was lovely, and we enjoyed watching the activity in the open kitchen, service was efficient and friendly, getting the bill at the end of the meal took a little time but there again it was a Friday lunchtime in the City.
Went here last Thursday for a monthly catch up with friends, very friendly staff and atmosphere.
Really tasty and unusual menu - great for something different. Easy to share with a group.
Food was perfectly fine without being particularly noteworthy (avo on toast and scrambled egg with smoked salmon). And system they have means they aren’t able to link beverage order to come at the same time as food order - each is ready when it’s ready - which seems a bit odd in days of technology. Staff were nice.
Caravan City is the perfect place to grab a breakfast coffee or lunch and ideally located close to Bank and Cannon Street stations. Lovely atmosphere and great staff!
Really enjoyed our time at Caravan, food was amazing and staff were friendly enough. I think the staff could do with some more training, the bartender and the waitress were both a bit confused by our orders like they didn’t know the menu well. They had to come back to double check at the table. We also waited a while for our dessert order and someone to come over to ask if we wanted the bill.
Really great food with a good atmosphere. On this occasion, the service was slightly slow which left one of our colleagues not eating at the same time as the rest of the party. However, this was rectified quite quickly. Would dine again.
The food is good, especially the jalapeno cornbread.
However, the service was very hit and miss - they completely forgot to bring two of the dishes we ordered but these items still appeared on the final bill. They also kept coming with free dishes - there might have been an issue between the kitchen and the service staff communications. They also ran out of a dish by 1pm (which is a bit strange).
Overall, food is good but service is hectic and not smooth running.
Had been looing for ward to this visit for some time as it was highly recommended.
Alas, the visit itself was not a success, staff where wonderful and fully deserving of both 5 stars and a better location.
A missing chef meant menu items where not avaialbe, some only revelaed after the orders had been taken.
Orders arrived at different times due to the kitchen issue , and to be honest, whoever created the dishes was tring too hard to.... "Heston" a brunch menu.
Nothing wrong with the food, but there was more effort than flavour in some dishes.
Hopefully the experinece was just a one off, bad day, but all I can rate is on what we experienced.
The salads are listed underneath but separately to the small plates. I ordered a chicken salad for £10.50 and expected a main meal. It was a small bowl with 2 small pieces of chicken. We had to order a 3rd salad to make a meal so over £30 on 3 small salads. Not great for hungry people expecting a main course salad!
Been to the Kings Cross restaurant and hadn’t realised there was one in the city. Food delicious as always. So love their cornbread. Best I’ve ever had.
Food was good but they had run out of the first 2 wines I chose. Some dishes a little over priced for what they were but mostly good value.
We went for brunch, food and drinks were great and most of the staff were great.
We went for brunch and the food was beautiful. Waitress was really helpful and held our table when one of our party was late. Will return.
Two of us went for lunch on a Friday. The place was pretty busy, service was good.
Food was tasty - small plates of tasty dishes. The ham croquettes were especially good. Will be back :)
Good food, plenty of creative veggie and vegan options, nice Non alcoholic drinks. But the service, whilst friendly, was totally incompetent. Wrong dishes served, ingredients changed without warning, food and drinks spilled. Drinks orders forgotten and/or served 20 mintutes after ordering... 3 hours to eat 2 courses + coffee! Not ideal if you’re in any hurry... Early days, so hopefully this will be fixed.
Had a lovely evening with a firend. The service was lovely, really friendly. The food was really good, filled me up. The atmosphere had a good vibe.
Excellent service and delicious food!
Slight issue in the kitchen, resulting in delay in food. Dealt with really well by all staff. These things happen, no issues our end. Good food and coffee.
Excellent atmosphere. Miss the blue cheese and squash pizza and veg soup. No longer on the menu.
Caravan City was an excellent choice for an informal dinner. Our waitress answered our questions on portion size and ingredients- not all familiar to us. Tapas size options were plentiful and we could have chosen a lot more than we could eat. We had Stilton wontons, a brown rice dish with salmon and avocado, ham croquettes, lamb meatballs to share. The cheese plate had 3 British cheeses with a grain crispbread. The pieces of cheese were just the right size for us. Dessert was hard to choose - there was more than one dairy free option - violet meringue with coconut cream, blueberry sorbet and sauce was absolutely delicious. Drinks were the French spritz and dessert wine. We will be going again!
Menu was really wide ranging and had so many options - food was really yum and atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Will definitely visit again
Really nice resturant, friendly staff and great food!
Great food, coffee and service. Really recommend the baked eggs for brunch
Great, imaginative and healthy food. Very good service even though the place was very busy during lunchtime.
Food was mediocre in its attempt to be too creative, eclectic, trendy and a lot of poor combinations that might sound good on paper, but leave a lot to be desired as far as presentation and taste.
Banquette seating for deuces too cramped and close together, music annoyingly loud and overdone, service attentive and friendly, wine choices overpriced and not in keeping with the price structures of the menu.
Overall very disappointing and certainly not value for money.
I do not see a future for this chain, one the buzz has settled, the concept will be edged out. Take action.
This was a first visit and we enjoyed the tapas style format. We had some great dishes and liked the option of a 500ml carafe of a reasonable selection of wines. Service came with a smile but it was sometimes hard to get the staff's attention. Will definitely return.
Nice place for a business breakfast - good selection of drinks and food and nice interior.
We loved this restaurant. Everything we tried was amazing. Great combination of flavors.
Food is always immaculate. Wait staff were not on top of it the night we were there and instead of showing us the wine list, the waiter gave us two white wine options verbally and when we got the bill we discovered the bottle we were suggested was £60 a bottle.
We did not complain, but look out for sneaker up seller waiters... we were not stingy guests... we had 3 courses, aperitif’s and wine... but the sneaky addition of an expensive wine was not on.
We’ll still keep eating at Caravan though, all over London because it is a great restaurant.
We had such a delicious brunch!! Get the miso ice cream :)
