Our waiter OJ was phenomenal and made our dining experience so great! He also sings beautifully and belted out a song for the crowd. What a nice surprise!
Our friends dined there another night & were very pleased with their waiter named Loyd.
These guys are what makes the dining experience so much better. Bravo!!
My husband and I were just at the restaurant for Valentines Day, and thought the service was ok (we were expecting better) . We ordered cocktails and beer, yet the wine glasses as well as empty beer bottles continued to clutter our table, until finally another waiter cleared them for us. Likewise for the silverware, salad forks, butter knives were never cleared and our dinner forks stayed at the table even after entree plates were cleared.
The worst disappointment was the one of the entrees itself! We ordered the grouper and the catch of the day ( which tonite was snapper). While the grouper was nicely filleted, the snapper had quite a few bones left in it . When we let the wait staff know, they checked with the chef and were instructed to let us know that the menu said ‘fillet’ and didn’t say it would be ‘boneless ’ . We didn’t argue but if we remember correctly the menu just said ‘catch of the day’ and we had confirmed with our waitress that it would be a boneless fillet and not a whole fish. Needless to say we won’t be going back.
Fabulous fresh ingredients!! With just the right spices!! Impeccable service!! Memorable evening indeed!!
We go to Carambola for an early dinner once a year. The view before sunset is magnificent and the food is somewhat unique and excellently prepared. A bit pricey but so are all the best restaurants in St Kitts. The staff are true professionals, matched by the up-scale decor of the restaurant. Although we don’t go there for sushi, the sushi we see being served looks very good. The restaurant has a very large bar and drinks are reasonably priced under the circumstances.
We don’t go there for lunch as the restaurant has a small but beautiful beach which is available for a fee and attracts many tourists from the cruise ships. This restaurant is less than 15 minutes by taxi from the Marriott or the Park Hyatt in the other direction.
Excellent value with view of sunset
We come every visit to St Kitts
Excellent dinner both normal fare and the sushi!
New Years Eve
The menu was pre fixed $100 per
2 in our party of 4 selected the only option the vegetarian pre fixed - still $100
We went early 7:15 because we had to get to the airport to pickup friends at 10:40 PM (15 min drive)
We barely made it
Every course of the meal took forever
We had to ask or our waters to be refilled every time
We had to ask for cocktails and wine - they could have sold double our bar bill - odd to me because our table wS nearest the bar.
It seemed unclear who was responsible for our table
The only person that seemed to care at all was a nice young man named Moses
After our entree was served I asked him for salt and pepper
By the time the salt and pepper showed up I was done eating.
This is a huge beautiful dining room on a very busy night
How were they not ready? Boggled my mind
When every course would come the server seemed surprised that no one cleared the plates/ bowls from the previous course.
A pre fixe menu is supposed to increase efficiency
When we reminded them we were on the clock when we asked for the desert that was part of our menu
They asked if we wanted to skip it.
After a long wait for the check - I had to go to the host stand and insist on a bill - we had to get to the airport.
A woman from the 4 top next us was up there doing the same - her ten year old son was out of patience and need to go.
That couple wanted us to join them is asking The Managment to make a financial adjustment to the bill.
I never write negative reviews- we can all have a bad day
We went for dinner last year while on our holiday trip
There were some issues - but the room is beautiful and has a great vibe
We travel a lot and are cool with the island speed of a beach bar
I hope they figure it out - I won’t be back
Service was terrible. Hostess said I was late for my reservation when in fact, I was early. She made me show her my Open Table reservation.
Great place. Beautiful view. Food was delicious
There were only three tables occupied one of which was finishing up. The service was virtually non-existent. For dessert we ordered ice cream and after 30 minutes gave up and left. When we complained they said they were catering a large group at one of the hotels and left no staff behind. Poor excuse. Will never go back again. By the way, the food was institutional and average. Not worth the trip.
All around good experience
The Carambola Beach Club has a pretty setting and the food was decent. The service for the price was terrible. We waited for over 45 min to have someone come back to the table where there was a party of 7. Water glasses were not refilled, waited on silverware, and they took so long to do everything that we cancelled the birthday dessert for the kids. When they finally gave us the check, they did not even provide a pen to sign. I approach the manager about getting a pen expressed this was the worst experience we during our seven day trip to St Kitts at any restaurant ranging from high end to beach shack. They did not even respond in any manner. Not worth the $$$$$$
Beautiful location. Service was impeccable and we were introduced to the chef before we ordered. Food was delicious and was a laid back atmosphere where you weren’t rushed. Would recommend highly! Only downside was they didn’t have our open table reservation when we arrived but quickly accommodated us!
We were there in the slow season clearly, but the hostess immediately told me my reservation was for the following night (which is was not). Service was slow, wine (white) was warm, and the food was mediocre at best - I’m not sure the “snapper” was actually snapper. Then we learned that a family who was there when we were there was not even acknowledged and they left. Wow. If they didn’t want to bother serving anyone, they should’ve closed. Oh wait, the table next to us got excellent service I’m sure bc they looked to have money and more people. They got their food ahead of us (and we’re seated way after), and we even had to ask for the bread they got. Won’t be back!!
The service, the food, the ambience were all first class. Of special notice was OJ our server who at the end sang to us in I might add an amazing voice. A memorable final meal on our week in Saint kits. We will definitely be back.
Great atmosphere. Service at dinner was very slow, over 1 hr. wait.
If you're looking for an elegant dinner while on vacation in St Kitts Carambola is one of the restaurants I'd recommend. The atmosphere was very nice and the staff treated us very well. The food was outstanding and we all enjoyed our evening there.
The service was exceptional and the food was perfect. The only detractor was the sand fleas that attack you if you are doing outside dining. They are unbearable until after sunset
Sit inside it bring bug spray
This place is so beautiful. The ambiance can’t be beat anywhere on the island, and the service was TOP NOTCH. I just can’t say enough good things about this place. I had the lobster and it was delicious! Husband had the surf and turf with lamb and loved it. The whole place is totally open and very modern.
Very pretty spot on the water. Delicious food. The pumpkin soup was outstanding. The salmon was quite good. The portions for the entrees were small for the price. Overall a very nice place to enjoy water view dining.
My wife and I arrived for a 6:00pm reservation. When we arrived we were the only ones on the restaurant. We had made the reservation at that time in hope of catching the sunset. I had read in one of the other reviews you could see the sunset. You cannot see the sunset from the dining area. To see the sunset you have to walk out to the beach area and then you might see a piece of it thru palm trees.
We both ordered appetizers. She had the beet salad which was the best part of her meal. I had the seared scallops which were only 3 and over cooked and tough.
The food overall was less than great. I ordered the surf and turf which said Caribbean lobster and a beef tenderloin. The lobster is half a lobster tail not a complete tail. See picture. The meat was cooked as ordered but not hot. Seemed like it was sitting under hot lamp.
My wife ordered the grilled grouper with capers sauce. No capers were included. The fish was undercooked and slimy and had a bitter charred taste. It wasn't good and she did not eat it.
They noticed she did not eat it and offered a free dessert. My wife ordered the crepe suzette. Don't do it! Its like eating a buritto suzette.
I ordered the a traditional cream brulee. It was small and not remarkable. We also ordered a coffee. The coffee was heated in the cup and was so hot you couldn't touch it.
Our server was very nice and the dinner area is nice but once a few more people arrived I noticed it began to get loud.
All in all we spent almost $200US, for a dining experience that left us unfulfilled and therefore would not return or recommend.
Last, they keep the windows open air and after dark the mosquitos come out.
Great dinner spot overlooking the waters
My husband and I went to Carambola for dinner with some new friends we met on our honeymoon to St. Kitts. We immediately were impressed with the ambiance of the restaurant- so well-appointed and really high end furnishings and style. The menu was so hard to choose from- I wanted something from every page! We ended up choosing two of the sushi rolls and fried calamari for appetizers and various entrees from steaks to seafood. All of our choices were incredible- especially the sushi! My husband who has never even been a fan of sushi actually tried a few pieces and loved it! The best part was at the end, one of the amazing servers came over with a cake and huge candle and sang the best rendition of Happy Birthday I've ever heard- he needs to get a record deal! Such a wonderful place and if we ever are back in St. Kitts, we will be sure to come by again- both for day and night.
What a delightful spot on a quiet bay on St Kitts... we arrived shortly after sunset, seated near the wide open doors/windows with the ocean breeze. Polite, friendly professional staff throughout... all five diners at our table ordered different appetizers and entrees, mostly local selections... and enjoyed every dish thoroughly. Dessert was world class (although they had unfortunately run out of coffee by then) highly recommended
Food delicious- presentation of food excellent - sangria fabulous- service excellent all the staff were friendly & helpful
The setting is good
My kind of restaurant that you look forward to going back to
This was one of our favorite restaurants in St. Kitts. Beautiful atmosphere inside and beach side like a Hyatt or Four Seasons. Great Chef who came to our table. Great bar, Great Servers and CJ who has a professional singing voice sang to us at our table. Highly recommended!
This is a great restaurant. The chef came to our table and one of the waiters sang beautifully. First Class atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Came here for the second time on our trip to try the sushi menu which was very good. It was Boxing Day so the restaurant was a bit quiet vs. our first visit. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
Do NOT trust these people. We are her for Christmas and it was wonderful. Made a 6:25pm reservation for NYE which also happens to be my wife’s birthday. They were not ready for non-party customers. Bar was closed and we were told the only thing we could order was the overly expensive NYE special. Manager no help as he blamed Open Tables saying that he closed the night yet we are in a cab now with another couple that made a reservation today and ran into the same problem.
So - this place is all about short term profits and does not care about you as a customer. Fair warning -
Came here for Christmas Eve dinner and were very impressed by the casual yet elegant atmosphere, the scenic view of the beach and Caribbean Sea, the excellent food and the wonderful service from our waiter, OJ. Highly recommended.
We enjoyed our dinner at Carambola, our server Jerrod was excellent. We had a sushi mix of spicy California, with some others I cant remember but were very good. The caterpillar roll was excellent!!
it is set on the beach. The night we were there it was super quiet but we loved that!!! They have an all you can eat sushi night on fridays
This restaurant is great, one of the best on St Kitts! We were a party of 8 and got great service from OJ our server along with a pro quality serenade from OJ, wonderful evening first class experience! Thanks to Carambola!
This is a fairly large (relatively speaking) popular spot for cruise ship excursions during the day and the place gets loud and busy. They empty the crowds out for a more subdued and peaceful evening environment. We arrived early for drinks and sunset viewing which means we were there during this change over from day crowds to evening dinning. Not great timing for us.
The inside seating and dinning area is nicely arranged and wide open as all the walls in front are open to the outside which is towards the ocean side.
Bring your bug spray as the mosquitos are persistent and really come out in the evening!
Service was amazing.definately my new favourite spot
Excellent food and ambiance!
Went two nights in a row also great spot to hang at beach all day
great restaurant and beach bar anytime of day great for day at the beach or for a great dinner
The meal and the evening was wonderful. The only issue I have was when I was filling out my credit card receipt, the waiter was looking over my shoulder and stopped me when I was about to write in the tip. He told me I couldn't do that because then he would not get the tip, instead it would go to everyone. I found this to be tasteless and it succeeded in humiliating me because I do not carry large sums of cash. I had to refuse and explain why I was going to leave the tip on the credit card, very embarrassing for me. So my last impression of the restaurant was a negative one.
Fabulous dinner and amazing waiter!
