The food and service was excellent. The prix-fixe menu is a bargain. Everything we were ordered was perfectly prepared and delicious. I would definitely recommend.
What a Terrific Little Place! We read a number of internet reviews before selecting Cara Mia as our first Italian restaurant for this trip. Arrived on time and were immediately seated at a cozy table for two, in the midst of an energetic Friday night crowd.
She had a very delicately prepared veal dish in a brown mushroom sauce - delicious. I had a risotto with blue cheese and asparagus dish that was tasty and - wow - very filling.
My only minor grumble about most of the NYC restaurants we found this week was the wine selections were always and exclusively Italian selections (I KNOW! Italian restaurants. I get it.) But please recognize that there are a lot of people, like me, who find all Italian wines thin and grassy.
Good food. Not great. Good price. Nice location
The food here was really great, authentic Italian. There is a vast menu selection and all the nightly specials sounded really good too. I ordered something off the regular menu but wanted the homemade pasta from the "special" menu instead of the regular pasta, and they had no problems accommodating that request. Service was excellent.
It's a small place that they pack in really tightly, but the food is worth it.
ALWAYS A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE. NICE MENU AND TASTY FOOD, GOOD SERVICE.
Delicious food with creative dishes. Service was wonderful. Great for pre-theater dining.
cozy, comfortable, bubbling with people, food and wine. delicious and not pricey!
We have been here many times and have enjoyed it consistently. The food is delicious and consistently so. The service this time however was quite odd and a bit troubling. Hard as it is to believe, the waiter continually seemed to instigate fights with us. Example - and there were many - Would you care for wine? Please give us a moment to look at the menu. The waiter did not return for a very very long while. We said we would like to order wine. His answer? You told me you didn't want wine. Over and over again things like this happened. Throughout the entire evening it continued. It was just odd.
Being this was our first visit we did not know what to expect. My daughter had recommended this restaurant to us. I must say that it was wonderful The food was very good and the waiter was very accommodating. Your menu choices were very nice and the service was good. It was a little too noisy for me but overall it was a great find. Definitely would return for another meal.
Enjoyed our meal. Very friendly staff. Not rushed. Would visit again. this was our first time. Very pleased
I've eaten here before, and the food has always been very good. This time, however, it was a little too salty. Nevertheless, I finished the meal.
Excellent choice for pre-theater dinner. We were seated immediately and between our group, we took adavantage of the prix fix menu, ala carte selections, and some of the fantastic specials of the day, including home made pastas. Service was excellent, food too, and the prices are very palatable for the theater district.
Selected Cara Mia because of its proximity and the menu had lots of choices. We were seated after a very short wait and the wait staff was very attentive. The restaurant is small and the tables are very close together so I would not recommend for a romantic evening. The food was good and reasonably priced.
Small and cozy, very good food and a very fast service, good prices and excellent ambiance, nice place!!!
Overall, the meals were good. I ordered the Pork Chop special and was disappointed because the meat was tough and would not order it again. The service was fine and the other members of our party of three were happy with the meal.
Cara Mia is small and intimate - indeed my friend who is on crutches at the moment had a hard time navigating through the tables to get to ours in the back. This was especially disconcerting as we had reservations for 7 and there was an open table right at the front of the restaurant when we got there, yet the hostess didn't check for any reservations and that table was given to a couple who said "You need reservations?" to each other when I mentioned mine while we were made to stand on the sidewalk (there's nowhere to stand inside) for another table to clear.
That said, once seated everything was great. The complimentary bruschetta which is brought along with the bread was a nice surprise. Portions are good.
Really nice... Food was excellent as was the service. Waiter talked slyly suggested that I try one of the specials, which turned out to be excellent.
egg plant puree side was unique and delicioud.....
food was mediocre. disappointing.
Perfect spot for pre theatre dinner.
I have dined at several Italian restaurants in the city and Cara Mia is a very good choice if you find yourself in the Hells Kitchen section of Manhattan. Although it is a small place and gets a bit loud, if a good meal is your primary objective you will not be disappointed. Bon Appetit....
Had a great time. The waiter was friendly and gave great recommendations. I would definitely go back.
Although the price fixed dinner at $25.95 was tempting, the waiter convinced us to try some of the specials. We were glad that we did because they were terrific. The pasta, veal and red snapper dishes were delicious and nice sized portions. We will definitely return because the food was fresh and the service was great.
Meh is how I would describe Cara Mia. I went to lunch with some coworkers and we all choose from the prix fixe menu and the food came out fairly quickly. Nothing wowed me about the food at all. The price was great but you get what you pay for.
My husband & I chose cara mia on the recommendation of a friend. The food was delicious, the price right and the service excellent. We went with the specials and were not disappointed. We would without a doubt have dinner there again.
Great food at CaraMia. Came here for family for my birthday. The service was excellent. Noelia, our waitress was so patient and nice. I got a slice of cake and everyone sang happy birthday and she even gave us a bottle of prosecco on the house. Great experience
Given all of the great choices in NYC, this restaurant was good but not great. The food was fresh but lacked flavor.
On a visit to Rome several years back, we went to a neat little restaurant. As soon as we sat down in Cara Mia...I was immediately reminded of that same Roman restaurant---the brick walls, the "Italian speaking/Italian accent" of our very attentive waiter/assistants. Before ordering our entrees, a basket of assorted breads with dipping olive oil was brought to our table. We also ordered, as an appetizer, buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes and basil. Outstanding! The mozzarella in Italy wasn't even this good! It literally melted in your mouth (almost like a combination of ricotta and mozarella). The 5 of us each ordered our individual entrees. Outstanding! Then...the vanilla ice cream was "out of this world!" Will definitely return!!
The staff was very helpful and friendly. Great spot for theatre, they got us out in plenty of time to see our show. Food was very good and we would definately return.
Perfect location, tasted just like Italian-Italian food, caring service, nice portions and prices, excellent choices of wine by glass, what's not to like?
Food and service were outstanding. Will definately come back again
Very tasty authentic Italian food.
My partner and I go to Cara Mia for special occasions and have never been disappointed. The service is attentive without being pushy or rushing you out and the food is delicious. I always get one of the homemade pastas. The atmosphere manages to be both bustling and romantic!
Was too loud to have a nice family conversation with six of us. Most of the food was exellent. Our waiter was more interested in geting us served than being nice. He didn't crack a smile once. Food comes quickly so if you need to get to a show this is a perfect spot.
This restaurant was a great find. Great service, food was delicious - and the homemade pastas are amazing! We didn't know that they only serve wine, no alcohol, but that was fine.
Great special - salad, entree & dessert $25.95 -before 8pm, and after 8pm it's $21.95!
We would definitely recommend this restaurant. We will be here again.
I needed a place within a few steps of the theater, and picked this based on Open Table reviews. I was very pleased with the food, my spinach ravioli with pink sauce was very good. my sisters stuffed chicken was also excellent. We had reservation for 10, and walked in with 13. they didn't bat an eye, and even though we jammed up their kitchen with a ton of orders all at once, the waiter took good care of us and got us all out in time for the next show.
We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation time, with no apology for the delay and no place to wait. Frankly, this all would have been OK (restaurants get busy, people stay longer than expected), except the hostess told us we were next to be seated, and then proceeded to seat four other parties before us. When I confronted her with this misinformation, her response was a cursory apology at her mistake and then a refusal to make eye contact for the rest of our wait - as if we were somehow to blame. Furthermore, there seemed no restaurant manager around who might have corrected the situation or apologized in earnest. The whole situation was just handled and managed poorly. Incidentally, after that very bumpy start, the food was fine.
Great food everyone enjoyed their meals
Great for pre- theatre dining, good menu, wonderful service.
Great food at pretty good prices and I would definitely recommend it for before or after a broadway show.
