Good Italian food at more reasonable prices than some of the tourist traps that are closer to the theaters.
Cara Mia has become one of our go-to favorites for its cozy atmosphere, delicious menu and great service. I had one of the fresh, hand-made pasta specials - spinach ravioli with fresh English peas and diced asparagus in a pink vodka sauce. The veggies were crisp and flavorful while the sauce was creamy and subtle. Excellent. My dinner companion had the carbonara, and raved about it.
Great little find. Fantastic service. Quick and hot food. Very tasty. Would return in a heartbeat.
The salad, wine and bread were great-the special we each chose a Homemade pasta, was so hot and then mushy. No one seemed to care that we did not finish our entrees. We did not have time for dessert, so the salad course was good.
Went with my boyfriend for our Valentine's Day dinner and it was AMAZING! We live in Hell's Kitchen so this was a very easy walk to get to but honestly, if we lived farther away we would definitely take the trek to get back there because we had the most amazing dinner. We ordered a fresh mozzarella appetizer and it was some of the best mozzarella I've ever had. My boyfriend who has been to Italy compared the food to the authentic Italian he had overseas. The portions were a great size and the food was absolutely fabulous. We left stuffed and extremely happy! Our server was also the BEST he was so attentive! We will definitely be back!
Very good. Would go back
Great find! Food was excellent and price decent. Wait staff was attentive and did not rush us with the tab once we were done with our dinner!
Love this place! Second time going here. Good food and the service is always great. Nice variety on the menu. Great specials. For being in Manhattan, I never feel rushed here and the prices are reasonable. I will be back again. Seating is tight, but that's to be expected in NYC. Noise level was fine. Highly recommend!!
Wonderful theater district Italian. A definite go to place.
It was my wife’s birthday. We wanted a restaurant conveniently located near the Theater district. They offered several dishes with freshly made pasta. I had the spinach fettuccine pasta fra Diablo. It was excellent. My wife had eggplant fettuccine pasta with eggplant, tomato, crab meat and basil. She loved it. Our server was Eddie who was very friendly and attentive.
Nice little spot on 9th. Good NY ambience, terrific service, very good food. Overall, a very good experience with friends
My daughters 16th birthday dinner with friends was wonderful. Food was delicious, dessert was amazing (pistachio cheese cake!). Service was attentive and quick. We had a great dinner, they sang happy birthday and we made it to our show.
Restaurants that take advantage of an automatic tip where the staff feels they can do what ever is a pet peeve of mine. The food here was very good but the service was horrible for our table of 10 and spoilt what could easily be a great meal.
Terrible seats, over crowded and neglectful service at an ok Italian restaurant. Can do much better.
Went there for brunch and the food was terrible. Got a Pulsd deal for brunch with unlimited drinks and I ordered the pancake and it came with ONE pancake. The Pulsd deal was for $20, but when you get the check they give them selves a 20% tip on the ORIGINAL price, which they say is $80 for 2 people - so the tip was $30.
$80 BUCKS for ONE pancake, an omelette and unlimited drinks for 90 min, C'MON. We only had one drink because the glass wasn't even cleaned properly.
The manager was nice, but everything else was terrible. STAY AWAY
The pre-show menu was a terrific value and the food was outstanding. I will eat here every time I am in New Your City!
Food was delicious! Tables are close together though.
Sorry, not a fan. Went pre-matinee ( table for 8 ) on a quiet Saturday in January ; was underwhelmed with the service level , and the food was ordinary despite some unique variations of pasta . The bread was cold and the lack of attentiveness was noticeable as their was only one other table of 4 in the restaurant at the time. As others mentioned, the gratuity was included in the bill, without it being brought to my attention. Plenty of other better choices especially on a Saturday afternoon.
Delicious chicken parmigiana!
Restaurant was wonderful. We had theater tickets at 7:00 and were served a delicious dinner within a half hour and made it to the theater on time. Wait staff was very acomodating.
Really enjoyed my dining experience here, attentive and easy going waiter, Erzen was great. Classier ambiance, prime date night spot. The risotto with the osso bucco was phenomenal. Expect to pay a few more bucks to eat as this near the Theater District.
-Calamari Fritti (fried calamari appetizer)
-Bafalo Mozzarella (mozzarella and tomato slices appetizer)
-Osso Bucco with Risotto
-Strozzapreti with Boar
-Riesling was delicious
-RSVP via OpenTable for points
-With a $25 Corking Fee choose wisely and do the math
-Appetizers were good, but at $17-$19 a piece, I will go right to the entrees next time
Was ok but the pasta was over cooked and was unpleasant to eat
This is a place to go for baked clams and chicken parm. Their other dishes need better seasoning and taste.
Ambiente muy cómodo, afable desde que llegas. Aperitivo excelente, pasta y salsas home made. La mesera muy amable e hizo un excelente esfuerzo hasta por hablar Español
I needed to find a restaurant to meet an out-of-town friend that was convenient for both of us. An hour or so on Open Table helped, and I am most glad that Cara Mia is the restaurant that I picked for our reunion. I made reservations, and we met at 3 pm. The restaurant was quiet—about half full—at that hour. Good—we could talk and easily be heard by one another. We ordered wine, one soup, and some fried calamari. We talked; we laughed; we ate. The food was delicious: the calamari was crisp, light and fresh tasting; the fennel soup was a subtle blend of many flavors and so delicious that I asked for the recipe. (The response was a most polite, “no.”)
And the wines? Chosen by our waiter, who was a truly delightful man, were by the glass and perfect for our simple repast. Trustworthy, convenient, delicious, amiable and idyllic. What a wonderful reunion we had in a quintessential NYC neighborhood restaurant.
A note to theatergoers: this is a great location for people going to an 8:00 curtain. The restaurant begins to fill around 5 pm, so do make reservations. This place is a delight, and this New Yorker says, you won't be disappointed!
We have eaten here several times. The food is excellent and the prix fixe menus cannot be
beat. But this time we went on a Thursday night, 12/28, and there was no prix fixe menu because it was a "holiday". I was not told this when I made the reservation and there was
no notification on their website. Therefore our meals for 7 people cost much more than
we were planning on. They gave us 2 free salads which was nice, but did not near make up
for the difference in price. I am still a little bitter and feel I was duped.
I made a 6 PM reservation for myself and three others. When we got there at 6 Pm there was a long wait and they did it honor our reservation time.
The food was average and the service was slow.
Excellent food and efficient, fast service. Cozy and warm on a cold night. Great for pre-theater. Both small and large parties easily accommodated.
The food was very good and the service was excellent.
