   Visited here for date night with a Pulsd voucher that included 2 entrees and a bottle of wine. When we arrived, I started immediately second guessing the decision as there was a line of about 8-10 people outside of the restaurant and it was a very cozy space inside with lots of small tables close together. I am also a close follower of restaurant health ratings and noticed the restaurant had been recently downgraded to a B (it was an A at the time I purchased the voucher just a few weeks prior). I tend to be a stickler about health ratings but ultimately decided to stay and we were quickly seated at a table (we had made reservations - not sure if this was a factor or not). The service was excellent - prompt and efficient without feeling rushed, and our server was friendly. The food was also very good - I had a simple pasta dish with an excellent sauce and my date had the lamb which was very tender although fatty in parts. The wine we were served was solid - we both enjoyed it. While the space is quite cozy the ladies seated next to us were very kind and we joked about "dining together" rather than it being a source of tension. Now that I know what to expect, I would certainly return if Cara Mia can overcome their recent health rating downgrade as we had a positive experience and it was an excellent value.

   the food was very good, service attentive. the portions were on the smaller side for the price(in my opinion). the only negative is that an 18%gratuity was automatically added to the check(we were a party of 2). thankfully i noticed it when signing my credit card receipt so i did not add an additional tip, though the standard tip line was included at the bottom of the check. i recommend it based on the quality of the food, but i warn diners to check the check at the end of the meal. the tip is included in the total so do not(unless you want to) add additional gratuity.

   Food was amazing. Price comparable to other restaurants in the area. Experience deflated when they brought our tab and told us cash only as the credit card machine was not working. They did not tell us this until it was time to pay, and all of the other tables around us were using their credit cards to pay. They would not accept a check and no cash machines in the area. They insisted we pay cash despite us not having enough to cover the bill. Shortly before we were finished with our meal we told them our hotel recommended we eat here, so we are not sure if they “played” us as tourists to try to avoid the fee for running a credit card? After we insisted they try to run our credit card since we had no cash and all of the other tables were paying with credit cards, somehow it miraculously worked. Despite how good the food was, this spoiled the evening and with as many good restaurants as there are in Manhattan, we will not be back.

   After receiving numerous reminders about our reservation, including one received 20 minutes before the 12:15 p.m. reservation, we were surprised to find that our reservation had been cancelled by the restaurant so that they could accommodate a brunch. No tables were available until 3:15. Cara Mia claimed that they had told OpenTable to cancel the reservation. Everybody knew about the cancelled reservation except me. And the other four guests who were suddenly left to find a place to eat. Thanks for nothing Cara Mia. Thanks for nothing OpenTable.

   Unfortunately don't get to visit Cara Mia very often as we don't live very close. Always a wonderful experience, great food and service. Meals always fresh and hot. Recommend reservations as it can get crowded.

   Cara Mia is a must each time we go to NY. Everyone should make it a regular go-to place. You will not be disappointed.

    I went with 2 friends after a Broadway show. I ordered one of the specials, spinach fettuccine with shrimp with pesto sauce. The pasta was swimming in pesto sauce. Too much sauce that had no taste. After eating our entree, the waiter gave us check. When we asked about coffe and dessert, he said”we don’t have coffee”. We asked someone else and was told coffee machine was not working. We went somewhere else for coffee. I would not go back to this restaurant.
