View Private Dining DetailsThe specials sounded amazing, but we had very little time and weren't too hungry so we went with the risotto with gorgonzola and the pasta with porcini. Fabulous and authentic. I lived in Italy for years and I know what I am talking about!
We got together before the theatre. The menu was excellent. Some of us had the brunch special while others had the freshly made pasta specials. Every one enjoyed the total experience. We will be back. The service was terrific.
Perfect setting
To noisy. To disorganized. Lousy food.
Had pre-theater lunch special. All the food was delicious and service was excellent. Have had dinner there in the past and that too was very good.
This review refers to the 623 9th location (I tried to cancel here but no one picked up the phone): please avoid.
They will automatically add a gratuity regardless of the number of people.
Veal picccata was a little tough
The staff is very friendly and the food is excellent. The waiters explain everything well and bring the meal any way you ask for it. We have been here a few times and are always pleased. Prices are reasonable.
Best off the best I ever have fresh pasta seafood very fresh try seafood pasta ask for omedo
Birthday for my son.
Octopus appetizer was dry and overcooked. Brusschetta appetizer was toasted too much and hard to chew. The veal saltimbocca was dry and way overcooked. Overall very bad food.
Fantastic food, very large portions. Crowded dining space, but worth the food.
Food was good enough. Very loud and cramped. Convenient location for theatre.
This was our 4th visit to Cara Mia. It has become our "go-to" place when in the theater district of NYC. The servic is excellent and the food is outstanding. It was the fist time I ordered the eggplant parmigiana there (on previous visits I ordered different selections---all outstanding) The eggplant parm is the BEST I have ever tasted anywhere! (and I order it a lot!) It reminded my of my grandmother's when I was a child. It melts in your mouth! My only wish is that they offered soup as an appetizer in the dinner menu (it seems they have soup on the lunch menu, though). Although we were full from the meal, there was no offer of dessert (didn't even see that on the menu...or even coffee!). Because this restaurant seems to be so popular, I assume they don't want anyone lingering. However, we have never felt rushed in any way. I highly recommend Cara Mia
Cara mia rarely disappoints. Great value in a typically touristy area.
I have been coming here once every few weeks for over a year. They have constantly become busier and busier. Reservations are not necessary at peak times. The food is excellent and at a good price.
Food and service were great!
The staff was attentive and the food excellent ! The perfect little dining spot.
Great place to carry conversation with friends over good food. Fried calamari was excellent. I would like to come back and try all their fresh pasta dishes. The serving sizes were just right. Our server was attentive and helpful.
Authentic Italian food in a warm and cozy setting. Highly recommend!
Great place for pre theatre with a large party
I love this place. It's my go-to in the area. Traditional and flavorful Italian. Always attentive and friendly service. And a great place to go for a quiet meal, where you can actually hear and enjoy what your company has to say.
Had a great dinner with my son after going to a meeting.
Good food, friendly service, would go back again.
We went to the wrong Cara Mia so he careful because there are two of them a few blocks apart. They were very kind and seated six of us anyway. The place was packed. The food is delicious and a good value. We are grateful for their understanding and excellent service.
Always great haven't been disappointed yet
The food was delicious! We had a special with homemade pasta and shrimp. The pasta was absolutely delicious. We, also, had the tomato, mozzarella and basil. The homemade mozzarella was also delicious! It was a small quaint restaurant. We're from out of town, but would recommend this restaurant to friends! So glad that we found it!
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC
Food was great but wine was not.
Excellent pre-theater restaurant! We've been going for years and have always had delicious food and excellent service for very reasonable prices.
I come to Cara Mia about 6 times a year. It never disappoints. Reasonable prices, good quality food, nice portions and (usually) a quiet setting where you can actually carry on a conversation without shouting. Dependable and good!
Great place for a a pre-show dinner. Food is very good, reasonably priced with good wine selection and very quick, efficient service. One of my favorite places in Hell’s Kitchen.
Every time I come to NYC I have to eat at Cara Mia. The food is fabulous, fresh, great portions. We always have a great meal and the staff is very attentive. Would recommend this place to everyone.
My wife and I had dinner here during an anniversary trip to NYC. It was highly ranked here on OpenTable so we decided to go for it. It's relatively small, but not cramped. The food was all delicious and came out very quickly. The servers were attentive, helpful and friendly. My wife had one of their wines and she said it was good. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and would not hesitate to dine at Cara Mia again in the future.
The Caesar salad was not heavily dressed and deliciously topped with slivers of cheese. The sausage pasta dish was perfect.
We love Cara Mia; we have been many times. The other night was especially good. We were celebrating a birthday (that is why I checked 'Fun"; we couldn't stop laughing ). I live in the neighborhood, three blocks away. When I see tourists on 8th Ave looking for a restaurant, I suggest they go over one avenue, to 9th Ave, where locals go. There are many good restaurants on 9th Ave. If you like great Italian food at a very reasonable price, go to Cara Mia.
A year ago a colleague recommended Cara Mia as a great place to grab dinner while chaperoning a school trip in NYC...it was so good that we went back again this year! Once again, Cara Mia provided charming ambience and delicious hand made Italian cuisine. My wife and I especially enjoyed the fresh Tagliatelle with a decadent salmon and porcini mushroom sauce! Thank you again for treating us like famiglia again Cara Mia. :)
Very good meal. Pastas were fresh and sauces delicious. Portions were very generous and reasonably priced for NYC. Staff was attentive and friendly.
Excellent meal and service. A must stop when we're in NYC.
What a wonderful surprise! The food was outstanding, service was excellent, very reasonable prices and a happy hour through dinner to boot! What more could I have asked from a pre-show dinner? A beautiful interior with a friendly and very attentive waitstaff without being intrusive. An excellent experience and I look forward to going back!
Outstanding attentive professional personable service. Delicious, reasonably priced, tastefully plated food. Have been dining here for years. Each visit it gets even Better.
