Cara Mia Ratings and Reviews
Our family enjoyed a meal here before a show - excellent! I had the seafood fra diavolo and fresh pasta option which was very good. Large half lobster, much calamari, and tender mussels and clams. Only small complaint, the spice level was quite low. Beyond that excellent flavor! Nice fresh salads and appetizers were great. All enjoyed. Nice selection of Italian wines even by the glass. Will return and recommend to anyone. Word of caution - weekend night before a show GET RESERVATIONS. It was a mad house with unruly folks outside that did not have reservations.
This is another good restaurant to have in your pocket for when you are in the mood for some good straightforward, red-sauce Italian. Had some interesting specials and homemade pastas. Nice wine selection. And it doesn't break the bank.
We were there before a show, and we dine all over. I was very happy to be able to add this into the rotation of restaurants for dining out.
Feels very much like a typical New York City restaurant without lots of frills or gimmicks. That's comforting.
A return visit after a wonderful lunch - this time for dinner -- excellent prix-fixe for $20.. puree of mushroom soup - heavenly! and 2 excellent pastas - capellini primavera and rigatoni siciliana.. and a glass of Chianti as part of Happy Hour. We are returning next week for lunch -- so that means we love this place!
I started dining at Cara Mia almost three years ago. I live in Kansas City and visit a few times a year. It's delicious. I swear we have the same server every time and he is wonderful. Two of our kids live in NYC now and every time we go to visit they ask if we are going to Cara Mia. It has a special place in our hearts. This time around we celebrated our 14 year old daughter's birthday. It was perfect.
As out of towners my mom and I were looking for a restaurant that wasn’t something “everyone around times share” was going to. Wandering into Cara Mia was one of the highlights of our trip. Wonderful staff, amazing food! Definitely a place I will return to and suggest to others!
Not good. Tables were crammed in and we were bumped several times. Someone trying to walk by knocked over a plate from our table.
Baked clam appetizer was the first time I can remember that I didn't like baked clams.
Entrees were mediocre.
With literally dozens of restaurants to choose from in the neighborhood, choose one of them.
We have been coming to Cara Mia's for years and yes there are alot of good restaurants
in the theatre district, but Cara Mia's is consistently excellent in not only the quality of their food
but the presentation and care that goes into preparing their meals is what keeps us coming back
time after time. Last night I had a Chilean sea bass with grilled mushrooms, tomatoes, and asparagus that was to die for. My husband loves their rigatoni melanzane(which I tasted and was excellent).
