Ordered the salmon medium - and it was pretty rare. The server also didn't ask us how we wanted the salmon cooked- usually in nicer restaurants - this is something that is always asked.
Queso was not very warm - I think our food may have been sitting for a while, since none of the meal was piping hot.
It was a romantic evening out.
Super fun environment! The pork nachos are amazing! Definitely recommend !
This was an anniversary meal. We have been cautious going out during the pandemic and this was our first indoor dining experience in several months. We were very pleased with the protocols and cautions that were taken by the restaurant staff. The wait people were very attentive and the kitchen provided top-notch food.
I went there for a lunch meeting with a customer. We were covered up with good service. The food presented well and tasted fantastic. I’d recommend a reservation if you are on a tight schedule. With limited seating (due to COVID) there was a bit of a wait.
Good food, excellent service. We made reservations early, hoping to eat outside. I even called to ensure a spot. When arrived, no such luck. Open table app was easy to reserve a spot. The wait though, for outside almost two hours.
Father’s Day
Everything was great. Service was fast and food was hot.
Terrific dining experience! Excellent food and great service on a beautiful afternoon on the patio
The service was decent but the server had too many tables. The kitchen took forever to get our food out. They need more employees working.
I hear you. And we are trying. It's hard to get employees to work when the government is paying them more to stay at home. We sincerely appreciate your understanding in these unbelievably difficult times.
Great meal, excellent service. Would like to have been seated outdoors but no seating available for 50 mins. Seating indoors was fine though. Would recommend.
Love sitting outside.
Outside was wonderful.
Understaffed and bad management. A joke. I know you don’t care because you have a captive audience. Bring enough staff in and fire the managers that were working tonight.
Great vista and location. Food is in general very good and service was a little slow, but the servers were frankly overwhelmed with the turn out of customers. We enjoyed our meal, the friendly service, and the great view of the Ohio.
We had a wonderful time! Fred was our server, and he was very attentive and knowledgeable.
The food was good but we were greatly disappointed in that there were no fish entrees on the menu. That's one of the main reasons we went there. We settled for Hot Brown and Shrimp Scampi. I would recommend this place for the ambiance and good food but don't expect fish dishes. The menu had very limited items.
Captain’s Quarters food isn’t as good as it once was. Now offering only very poor quality food for the prices they charge. My wife and I ordered salads and added grilled chicken (hers) and grilled shrimp (mine) and neither looked nor tasted appealing. Very disappointed! The dishes for the others in our party looked bland and boring. Honestly, it looked like cheap catering food.
The service was attentive and overall great. But, too bad we’ll not be returning anytime soon, we used to love going to CQs.
We had a beautiful evening. The food was very good! Service was excellent!
Great food and service. It was pretty quiet this night compared to other nights.
Captains Trio and Fried Green Chili Wontons appetizers were good. The Blackberry Salmon was amazing! The server was stressed out and not the most friendly.
Night out with friends. Really enjoyed the green chili wontons and my fish sandwich. Service was friendly.
I requested outside seating only to be told when we arrived that reservations aren’t accepted for outside seating. If we wanted to sit outside, we would be added to the wait list and the wait was 40 minutes! My husband is diabetic and eating until after 8:00 to eat wasn’t an option.
We opted to dine inside and ordered a bottle of wine before dinner. The waiter placed it on the table, but did not open it or pour into glasses. Since it was a screw top, we could open it. But over $28 for the bottle and general service etiquette, he should have opened and poured it.
Beautiful setting, but since we were entertaining out of state guests, it was disappointing.
Friends birthday
The service has gone steadily downhill since I first moved to Louisville in 2013. I don't know if they can't keep wait staff or they just don't have enough on hand for dinner with guests seated outside and inside. It will be a long tome before I try it again and I will not take guests there unless the service improves. The menu has improved in terms of variety and more upscale items.
Never coming back
Great place !
Highly recommend getting there an hour before your reservation so you can grab a drink from the outdoor bar, sit on the lawn and enjoy the view. Go on a night with live music and you’ll get a show followed by a dinner. Brunch on Sunday’s is amazing - $2 mimosas and fried green tomatoes are a must!
Made me realize I had missed visiting Captain's Quarters. Really enjoyed the band and ambience. I was entertaining a couple from Arkansas and they were quite impressed.
Granddaughter leaving for college going away lunch
Lovely waitress. And hostess Good food
While the ambiance and setting is second to none - complete with sunset over the Ohio, all sorts of boats docked along the walkway, and comfy lawn chairs to enjoy a drink while you wait for a table, it has its issues. Neither Open Table nor the Omni where we stayed made it clear that there were NO RESERVATIONS ACCEPTED for outdoor dining so when we arrived at 6:45 for our 7:00 p.m. reservation we were ushered to an inside seat, which is fine but certainly not the ambiance we wanted so we were told it was "about an hour" wait for outside seating. We were seated outside at a lovely table a full hour and forty minutes later. Our server, Jessie, was SUPERB and both apologetic and attentive. It was nice to have music while we waited but the cocktail hour was far too long and there were too many creepy single old men hanging around the bar and the band and some serious younger drunks as well. The food was basically diner food - nothing special but nothing terrible. Overall, we were disappointed because expectations were unduly raised. Had the reservation policy been clear, had the hostess been accurate about the wait time, and had the bar been less raucous so at least we could hear the music, it would have been a much better evening. That said, the setting is spectacular, and even the lengthy drive out of town was beautiful.
an excellent meal with superb ambience. this is a Louisville landmark.
We had a reservation. Upon our arrival, we asked to sit outside. The hostess told us this would be another 1.5 hour wait. Our inside table had zero view.
Service was decent. My shrimp sandwich and fries were good. Coleslaw had no flavor. The chocolate cake was good, but had finger prints on it!
My husband enjoyed his burger, fries, and Mac n cheese. I would go back only for a cocktail, the view, and the live music outside.
1st time there and very nice place
Service slow. One meal did not come out with others until we got ahold of our server. He apologized and went to kitchen to retrieve.
Great location to sit back with a drink, listen to the band and watch the boats go by.
Great time. Waitress Kathryn was spectacular.
The restaurant was awesome but when we arrived they didn’t have record of our reservation. All turned out fune though.
Captain’s Quarters is one of our favorite restaurants in Louisville. We love the live music and the food is always good.
Glad we got a window seat but wish we could have sat outside.
