We had a beautiful evening. The food was very good! Service was excellent!
Great food and service. It was pretty quiet this night compared to other nights.
Captains Trio and Fried Green Chili Wontons appetizers were good. The Blackberry Salmon was amazing! The server was stressed out and not the most friendly.
Night out with friends. Really enjoyed the green chili wontons and my fish sandwich. Service was friendly.
I requested outside seating only to be told when we arrived that reservations aren’t accepted for outside seating. If we wanted to sit outside, we would be added to the wait list and the wait was 40 minutes! My husband is diabetic and eating until after 8:00 to eat wasn’t an option.
We opted to dine inside and ordered a bottle of wine before dinner. The waiter placed it on the table, but did not open it or pour into glasses. Since it was a screw top, we could open it. But over $28 for the bottle and general service etiquette, he should have opened and poured it.
Beautiful setting, but since we were entertaining out of state guests, it was disappointing.
The service has gone steadily downhill since I first moved to Louisville in 2013. I don't know if they can't keep wait staff or they just don't have enough on hand for dinner with guests seated outside and inside. It will be a long tome before I try it again and I will not take guests there unless the service improves. The menu has improved in terms of variety and more upscale items.
Never coming back
Great place !
Highly recommend getting there an hour before your reservation so you can grab a drink from the outdoor bar, sit on the lawn and enjoy the view. Go on a night with live music and you’ll get a show followed by a dinner. Brunch on Sunday’s is amazing - $2 mimosas and fried green tomatoes are a must!
Made me realize I had missed visiting Captain's Quarters. Really enjoyed the band and ambience. I was entertaining a couple from Arkansas and they were quite impressed.
Granddaughter leaving for college going away lunch
Lovely waitress. And hostess Good food
While the ambiance and setting is second to none - complete with sunset over the Ohio, all sorts of boats docked along the walkway, and comfy lawn chairs to enjoy a drink while you wait for a table, it has its issues. Neither Open Table nor the Omni where we stayed made it clear that there were NO RESERVATIONS ACCEPTED for outdoor dining so when we arrived at 6:45 for our 7:00 p.m. reservation we were ushered to an inside seat, which is fine but certainly not the ambiance we wanted so we were told it was "about an hour" wait for outside seating. We were seated outside at a lovely table a full hour and forty minutes later. Our server, Jessie, was SUPERB and both apologetic and attentive. It was nice to have music while we waited but the cocktail hour was far too long and there were too many creepy single old men hanging around the bar and the band and some serious younger drunks as well. The food was basically diner food - nothing special but nothing terrible. Overall, we were disappointed because expectations were unduly raised. Had the reservation policy been clear, had the hostess been accurate about the wait time, and had the bar been less raucous so at least we could hear the music, it would have been a much better evening. That said, the setting is spectacular, and even the lengthy drive out of town was beautiful.
an excellent meal with superb ambience. this is a Louisville landmark.
We had a reservation. Upon our arrival, we asked to sit outside. The hostess told us this would be another 1.5 hour wait. Our inside table had zero view.
Service was decent. My shrimp sandwich and fries were good. Coleslaw had no flavor. The chocolate cake was good, but had finger prints on it!
My husband enjoyed his burger, fries, and Mac n cheese. I would go back only for a cocktail, the view, and the live music outside.
1st time there and very nice place
Service slow. One meal did not come out with others until we got ahold of our server. He apologized and went to kitchen to retrieve.
Great location to sit back with a drink, listen to the band and watch the boats go by.
Great time. Waitress Kathryn was spectacular.
The restaurant was awesome but when we arrived they didn’t have record of our reservation. All turned out fune though.
Captain’s Quarters is one of our favorite restaurants in Louisville. We love the live music and the food is always good.
Glad we got a window seat but wish we could have sat outside.
Great experience! We had reservations so we’re taken to our table right away. Got a window seat, too! Was very busy but our waitress was attentive 👍🏻. The food was fantastic as well. Will definitely go back!!
It was AWESOME! my boyfriend loved it!!!! Thank u nothing to complain about will be back
Father’s day treat by daughters .
The service was excellent and the food was very good. Loved the view of the river while dining.
First time ...will
Come back !!
The food was good, the weather was lovely! My only slight annoyance was that we still had to wait 35 minutes to be seated outside despite my reservation and note about wanting to sit outside. They said reservations are only for indoors but it didn’t tell me that anywhere. Other than that everything was great.
Our waitress provided horrible customer service! I have always loved going to dine at CQ but she made the experience really unenjoyable....
Our server was attentive but not knowledgeable about drinks that were available. Claimed she was new. We started with wontons which I didn’t feel I got enough for the 9 dollars I spent on them. There were only 5 on the plate. For dinner we ordered a cod sandwich which when I bit into it, I could tell it was frozen product. Not what I expect from a waterside restaurant . Plenty of other places offer fresh fish sandwiches at the same price. We also ordered the kicking chicken sandwich. The portion was much more slaw than chicken . Felt like a kids order of chicken in the wrap. We didn’t finish our sandwiches and paid the tab. I would recommend this place for an outdoor cocktail, but not for the food.
Beautiful location! Very busy on a beautiful night. Server very sweet but slow. Expected more seafood options but very limited. Only 3 bathroom stalls and very dirty. Maybe fun time to set outside and listen to band and have a drink, but wouldn’t go there to eat.
Very nice atmosphere and well worth the price. Staff was very plesant and helpful. I got a little emotional when I walked in there. My grandmother and my parents worked there 40 years ago.
Not thrilled with the new menu. I ordered one of the chef's specials and it seemed like a precooked frozen, warm up in the microwave meal like Applebees or other chains. Service was very slow, but not the fault of the staff, because it was obvious there were not enough people behind the bar or working tables. Worst experience I've had there in the last 5 years. Used to be a favorite place to go this time of year.
Always a great time, it’s nice that they can accommodate a large group with a varied menu.
Great views and food. Not disclosed on here, but reservations cannot be made for the outdoor seating. It is first come, first serve.
Our waiter Joe was great!! A++ food was nice and hot when it came out and fresh. We came in for our anniversary celebration and got in and out ..wait time for everything was satisfactory
I do not care for the new menu. We were celebrating a birthday and expected something a bit nice. We had patronized Captain's Quarters in the past and loved the ambiance and food. I had a bone fragment in the clam pizza and the pizza came sitting in a plate of liquid. 2 out of 4 meals ordered were poor quality and taste. We will likely visit another river front location in the future.
Only would come back to drink. Food was mediocre at best.
New menu lacked choices that appealed to us and our dinner guests.
A few months ago (early fall) we brought guests and menu choices were fine.
Items on current menu seemed more like lunch options. Craft cocktails were "so-so".
Server seemed distracted and unpolished.
Do not like the change in menu. Items way too expensive for lunch. Miss my gyros. Salad I got was good but too few choices. Probably won’t come back
