About Captain James Landing
A Baltimore landmark since 1978, Captain James Landing Restaurant has earned the name "most unique eatery" in Baltimore City. For starters we are the only restaurant shaped like a merchant vessel. Five brothers created a restaurant in the 70"s with the goal of providing quality service to the citizens of Baltimore, Maryland as well as the thousands of tourist that visit our Monumental City. Our Waterfront Crab House (located adjacent of our restaurant) was awarded in 2012 "#1 Best Crabs in Baltimore" by Baltimore Magazine. Our Crab House is the one spot in the city where you can eat steamed crabs with a true waterfront seating. Water Taxi Stop #14 brings you right to our waterfront location.

Captain James Landing Ratings and Reviews
While we enjoyed our food immensely, this is the SECOND time that I have not been allowed to use a Groupon that I purchased. The first time it was because it was Restaurant Week and they weren't offering a regular menu, only the Restaurant Week menu. This time it was because it was Veteran's Day. Veteran's Day? Really? Because on Veteran's Day, people go out for their traditional Veteran's Day brunch? The restaurant was EMPTY when we got there at 11:15. When we left around 12:45, it was still mostly empty. I planned to use it this day because I had houseguests and I wanted to take them out. There was no other time that I could've used it before it expires.
And although Veteran's Day was, legally, Saturday, the federal government observed it on Friday. I know this because my houseguests work for the federal government.
Our server Dave was outstanding, he made the experience fun for us and was incredibly knowledgeable when we had questions about the menu. We used a Groupon to try this place out, and we were not disappointed. The food was decent- my husband got the catch of the day and I got the crab cake. The crab cake was delicious, and my husband seemed to really enjoy his meal. The prices seemed a little high, but I recognize that for seafood in Baltimore that's typically the case. We would definitely go back in the future!
We went for Sunday Breakfast/Brunch. The food was serviceable, but not outstanding. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff freindly. We ordered 2 bennies--the Traditional and the Cheaspeake. The amount of spinach on the Traditional Eggs Benedict was extreme to the point a heaping pile was left on the plate. The Chesapeake Benedict was bland. It was an okay meal but we won't be returning.
The absolute worst dining experience I EVER had in my life. The customer service SUCKED. The waitress "Joyce was extremely rude to my dining party. The don't split dining checks. The don't do any side substitutions. This isn't a kid friendly restaurant either. When I was offer to speak with the manager (Mr. Vazquez) about how rude the staff was his resolve was to comp us with dessert or he'll call the police if I refused to pay the billed. NEVER have I been treated so badly.
Made a reservation last minute. Sat us down on time. Came for and ordered Maryland Blue Crabs. Server was wonderful. Showed us how to eat them. Crabs were PERFECT. Drink prices are reasonable. Place is fun and clean. Family friendly. Worth the money. Would return.
The food, the service and the atmosphere are all top notch here. They have some of the best seafood we have ever tasted and my wife can be very critical about her meals. Also the portions are huge you will have enough for lunch the following day. Our server Liz was outstanding she was a total complement to our meal and evening.
Thank You Liz.
Being a native Baltimorean visiting for a couple days, I went there for the crabs. And I ate crabs, so I cannot speak to the rest of the food at the restaurant. They say you cannot go back. As far as being young again, and getting the kind of steamed crabs we got 50 years ago, they are right (whoever "they" are). The "jumbo" crabs are small by comparison to the "good old days". Unfortunately, they were also a little overcooked. Yup, you can never go back. So, kick back and have a beer.
Food was excellent. Staff very friendly . Wait time for entree s was a little long but was worth the wait. Their crab cakes are to die for Although on a main road parking was not an issue at all. Restaurant has own parking across the street. Took my family here because my son was leaving for marine training in North Carolina.? Will definitely go again
