Captain James Landing
Fried Crab Cake
Marinated in Old Bay, flash fried, served with fresh lemon and our signature marinara
Great first time experience!!!! Definitely going back!!
This was not a pleasant visit or experience. The temperature in the restaurant was very warm and uncomfortable to the point of my guests had to leave out for air. The alcoholic drinks were poorly prepared and when addressed with our server, she said, “but I made it according to the measurements.” She clearly had no bartending experience. The bread was not immediately served although it was hot and fresh. The seafood Alfredo was literally served with 4 scallops, 2 pieces of medium sized shrimp and one mini lobster tail. The sauce for the dish lacked and the proportion of noodles to seafood was overwhelming. There was enough fettuccine noodles to feed the table. Lastly, the waitress added gratuity to our bill (party of 4) when the menu clearly states gratuity of 18% added to parties of 6. She would not make an adjustment when asked.
There were only 6 other parties dinning in the restaurant so the quality had nothing to do with the quantity of patrons. We were just completely disappointed.
It just wasn’t for us, we were pretty disappointed by the atmosphere and food. Maybe we had a bad night with everything going on in the news currently, but we were definitely expecting a better experience based off of the reviews on here.
The whole staff was very welcoming and attentive. The food was really good, but it did not blow me away. The only little gripe I have is the fact that they added an 18 percent gratuity to my bill before I had a chance to choose my tip. I only had 2 people in my party and could see that being the norm for larger parties. I tipped more than the added charge, and planned on it, but it just seems a little offensive that they already add the tip to the check. I would definitely return again!
Very good food...very nice service.... Excellent service
Delicious seafood in Fells Point section of Baltimore is what I look forward to when I dine here . The waitstaff are always friendly and knowledgeable of the menu.
Service was great, greeted quickly and served water and nice warm rolls immediately. Was not rushed while deciding what to choose from menu. Oysters Rockefeller rocked, crab cakes very good and cream of crab soup fantastic. Wonderful dining experience.
This was our first visit to Captain James. The food was great and the service was excellent!
I love this place. It was my sisters 71st birthday and I was so happy. Her friends came and one brought a small cake. It was a surprise and unexpected. Our bill was 400.00 and when we asked the waiter if we could cut the cake we were told for $20. I found this offensive and also rather insensitive.
If people patronize your business then the very least could be a knife and small plate for patrons to share a birthday wish for a senior. Shame on you. I know we will come back but not for celebrations like this.
Last event was at Michaels and they cut the cake, serve it and we tip nicely.
Forever my spot and I will always recommend to family and friends!!!
Very kind service. Knowledgeable about menu
Love it. Food was great
Great food and service! Nice family dining atmosphere with modern decor.
We ate in the restaurant side, great food, great service!
We wanted to try a new place and decided to go here after we found a awesome deal on Groupon. Excellent food and drinks. Lots of locals eating here and nice staff.
Everything from the staff to the food and beverages was great. We were a party of four, had plenty of room to enjoy each other's company and our lunch. Parking across the street in their lot was an added bonus. Highly recommend Captain James Landing!
Drinks were good. Food was average nothing that special
Crab cakes are very good. Large portion with very little filler.
Great service. the young lady who waited our table was there when we needed and not when we didn't I approach both. The rest of the support staff was efficient and effective. The food was great. Crab-cakes and crab legs.
We had a great time at the restaurant. The service was great and the food amazing. The decor was fun and fitting with the food. We will definitely go back when we are in Baltimore again.
Good food, cool ambiance. It's basically a casual dining experience with good quality seafood.
We have never been there before. Always heard great things about the place. Thought it would different to go there. Reservation was on time. Friendly but when we were giving directions that we had to go to upper level and we explained that my wife had back surgery and steps were difficult the young girl said it's just a few. How about 3 flights. Not happy. Server upstairs was very good. She apologized for the major inconvenience. Service was good. Food was okay. But a little over priced and small in amounts. Sorry but don't think we will go back.
It is expensive but the food is good. Would definitely recommend for a special night out.
This was my first time dining here. The food was delicious and the drinks were made to my liking. The waitress was attentive, courteous and attentive. I most definitely will be back.
They were out of rockfish and asparagus. I ended up ordering the lamb chops and they were cold. The waitress was friendly but she didn’t follow up with us as often as I would have liked. It took us over 10 minutes to get bread and we had to ask her multiple times for straws for our drinks.
Excellent as always. Service was a bit slow.
Great place to celebrate or duck in for a quick bite. The food is excellent and all the staff are very nice and accommodating.
I have always enjoyed the seafood culture of Baltimore and Captain James is a perfect place to take that in. The cream of crab soup was creamy, decadent, and full of lump crab. The broiled seafood platter was a delightful parade of simple, well-executed seafood fare. The ambiance is kitschy and perfectly Baltimore. I highly recommend!
Excellent food. I had the seafood Alfredo. Large scallops and shrimp. I think there was also part of a lobster. Enough food for 3 meals. My husband meal was a large crab cake, green beans and rice pikas. He also had leftovers. We started with fries that had cheese, crab, bacon and scallions. They were great. For dessert I had apple pie. Apples were a little tart but the whipped cream helped cut down the tartness. Husband had an Oreo cheesecake that he said was good. We found a groupon which made the meal affordable. We will return one day.
We had dinner here on a busy Saturday night at 8 pm. Service was a little slow due to the large tables adjacent to ours. We ordered oysters and were very disappointed when our server returned and said they had ran out of them. Otherwise our meals came out hot and tasty. Bar service was slow.
Came here due to Groupon and recommendation from a friend. Waitress had a difficult time keeping our orders straight without writing them down, getting the side dishes wrong multiple times. The creamy crab soup was nice if not too creamy. The raw oysters served on ice were delicious but the meat was room temperature which was disconcerting. The broiled seafood platter was ok, delicious crab claws, oysters and crab cakes were good, the salmon was dry, shrimp and scallop were perfectly cooked but had no flavor. The rockfish was nice. Did not get dessert. Bill was higher than expected, turns out gratuity was included. Would consider coming back under certain circumstances, but I expected higher quality food for the prices.
Great food, wonderful service!! Highly recommend!!
The crab cakes were great the server was very attentive and we had a good time.
This establishment is a very popular neighborhood find known for the delicious seafood they sell and generous plate fixings and it continues to live up to the high bar that has been set.
There crab cakes have a lot of filler and they put red peppers in them. It was just not my cup of tea. There service was amazing. I will return and try something different.
Dined at Captain James for my birthday along with my mother. Restaurant week menu was pretty good. Although it was my birthday my mom seemed to enjoy her meal way more than me. She had the lamb, seafood chowder, lobster tail, and crem brûlée. My salmon was nicely cooked and the squid on top was okay. I didn’t particularly enjoy the seaweed and the shrimp Croquet had more rice than shrimp. I would give this restaurant another try in the future.
My wife and I had date night, great service and food, we will return
Casual lunch with two friends. Excellent service and tasty lunch selections. One of my favorite local breakfast and lunch stops. Good quality plus free parking across the street is added bonus.
