Captain James Landing
Great service. the young lady who waited our table was there when we needed and not when we didn't I approach both. The rest of the support staff was efficient and effective. The food was great. Crab-cakes and crab legs.
We had a great time at the restaurant. The service was great and the food amazing. The decor was fun and fitting with the food. We will definitely go back when we are in Baltimore again.
Good food, cool ambiance. It's basically a casual dining experience with good quality seafood.
We have never been there before. Always heard great things about the place. Thought it would different to go there. Reservation was on time. Friendly but when we were giving directions that we had to go to upper level and we explained that my wife had back surgery and steps were difficult the young girl said it's just a few. How about 3 flights. Not happy. Server upstairs was very good. She apologized for the major inconvenience. Service was good. Food was okay. But a little over priced and small in amounts. Sorry but don't think we will go back.
It is expensive but the food is good. Would definitely recommend for a special night out.
This was my first time dining here. The food was delicious and the drinks were made to my liking. The waitress was attentive, courteous and attentive. I most definitely will be back.
They were out of rockfish and asparagus. I ended up ordering the lamb chops and they were cold. The waitress was friendly but she didn’t follow up with us as often as I would have liked. It took us over 10 minutes to get bread and we had to ask her multiple times for straws for our drinks.
Excellent as always. Service was a bit slow.
Great place to celebrate or duck in for a quick bite. The food is excellent and all the staff are very nice and accommodating.
I have always enjoyed the seafood culture of Baltimore and Captain James is a perfect place to take that in. The cream of crab soup was creamy, decadent, and full of lump crab. The broiled seafood platter was a delightful parade of simple, well-executed seafood fare. The ambiance is kitschy and perfectly Baltimore. I highly recommend!
Excellent food. I had the seafood Alfredo. Large scallops and shrimp. I think there was also part of a lobster. Enough food for 3 meals. My husband meal was a large crab cake, green beans and rice pikas. He also had leftovers. We started with fries that had cheese, crab, bacon and scallions. They were great. For dessert I had apple pie. Apples were a little tart but the whipped cream helped cut down the tartness. Husband had an Oreo cheesecake that he said was good. We found a groupon which made the meal affordable. We will return one day.
We had dinner here on a busy Saturday night at 8 pm. Service was a little slow due to the large tables adjacent to ours. We ordered oysters and were very disappointed when our server returned and said they had ran out of them. Otherwise our meals came out hot and tasty. Bar service was slow.
Came here due to Groupon and recommendation from a friend. Waitress had a difficult time keeping our orders straight without writing them down, getting the side dishes wrong multiple times. The creamy crab soup was nice if not too creamy. The raw oysters served on ice were delicious but the meat was room temperature which was disconcerting. The broiled seafood platter was ok, delicious crab claws, oysters and crab cakes were good, the salmon was dry, shrimp and scallop were perfectly cooked but had no flavor. The rockfish was nice. Did not get dessert. Bill was higher than expected, turns out gratuity was included. Would consider coming back under certain circumstances, but I expected higher quality food for the prices.
Great food, wonderful service!! Highly recommend!!
The crab cakes were great the server was very attentive and we had a good time.
This establishment is a very popular neighborhood find known for the delicious seafood they sell and generous plate fixings and it continues to live up to the high bar that has been set.
There crab cakes have a lot of filler and they put red peppers in them. It was just not my cup of tea. There service was amazing. I will return and try something different.
Dined at Captain James for my birthday along with my mother. Restaurant week menu was pretty good. Although it was my birthday my mom seemed to enjoy her meal way more than me. She had the lamb, seafood chowder, lobster tail, and crem brûlée. My salmon was nicely cooked and the squid on top was okay. I didn’t particularly enjoy the seaweed and the shrimp Croquet had more rice than shrimp. I would give this restaurant another try in the future.
My wife and I had date night, great service and food, we will return
Casual lunch with two friends. Excellent service and tasty lunch selections. One of my favorite local breakfast and lunch stops. Good quality plus free parking across the street is added bonus.
The food was great, we had a Groupon but the place has so many menu items on special
So we could not use the Groupon with the special
But the regular menu items were over priced
At least my 6th dining experience and they never disappoint! Food was amazingly delicious, service was timely, and clean environment. I had 2 of my closest friends dine with me tonight for their first time at Captain James. They were very pleased with my choice of restaurants!
Food is amazing...every little bit of it.
Great time. 6 of us to celebrate mother’s birthday. Great service and food at reasonable price. Thanks.
Best service we have had anywhere in a very long time!
What a great evening!
The food was amazing and plentiful. The waitstaff was friendly, attentive and added to the overall enjoyment of the dinner.
Will make this a return visit for certain.
Great! Food is always good.
Great food!!! Great service!!!
Stuffed shrimp was excellent! Used a Groupon - price was great w Groupon. Also had cod fish which was very good. Great Baltimore restaurant!
We (5 top) arrived Sunday night 15" late for the reservation but were seated promptly. The fact that this downtown restaurant has an ample sized parking lot is a godsend, especially when arriving late. The restaurant was packed and noisy. Everyone loved their food, especially the Stuffed Chicken Imperial (warm and cheesy and crab filled chicken cutlet) and Crab Cakes. Plenty of warm rolls and soft butter (mmmm). The seafood stew was a bit spicy for 1 person's taste but that is a issue of personal preferences. A minor problem that I have a pet peeve about is the size of the water glasses. They were about 6 to 8 oz. and the servers had to constantly come over to refill people's glasses. It became a distraction. A simple remedy would be to use larger goblets. I believe that the server's would also appreciate it. Please be aware that the gratuity (in our case) was already incorporated in the bill.
Would definitely recommend the restaurant based on the food alone.
Always a pleasure! Food, service atmosphere 5stars
My team thoroughly enjoyed our holiday outing! Very accommodating and our server was pleasant.
Awesome staff and food! Have had Christmas lunch for staff at our office there for years. They make it such a great event.
The New Orleans style mussels were so good ... I hope no one saw me licking the plate! The calamari was fresh! I had no room for a main course after the appetizers, but that's ok. They were delicious (including the Brussels sprouts).
Service was friendly and prompt. Menu options were many and they were flexible with the side dishes. Food was very good; I had a crab cake with lots of lump meat in it. MDW had scallops which were also quite good. Drink prices were also reasonable.
Reasonably priced with a Groupon. Otherwise, not sure I would go. Oyster shots were good. Crab cakes were just okay. Better options in Baltimore.
A must visit for out of town folks looking for a nice place with great food.
Great meal and excellence service from our waitstaff Danielle
When we arrived we were 10 minutes late.
We were told the kitchen was closed, then under protest we were seated, and rushed through dinner by the waiter . We will not return....If the restaurant is closing at the time of your resevation, it seems odd not to mention that an 8pm closing for a restaurant with a sign outside that says 1am closing is odd. Granted it was a holiday. I was asked to re-confirm the reservation and at no time was an early closing ever brought up.
