Capri Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Very Pleasant experience
We had a great time at dinner, the food was excellent as well as the service. The owner is very much hands on so things ran smoothly, even though they were extremely busy for the holidays. Highly recommend this old school take on classic Italian food.
This restaurant has the nicest feeling to it. Our waiter was extremely courteous, full of personality and enthusiastic too.
For an evening in which you can actually hear the people you're with, this is the place to go.
On top of all this, the food is quite good.
Thanks, Capri, for a lovely evening.
I am writing this to Open Table only. I live in Indianapolis and dine at many restaurants in the area and always try and book through open table. I made my reservation on Saturday afternoon for Saturday evening dining in the bar. Capri did not have my reservation. It seems it was booked for Raleigh, N.C. I am not sure how that occurred because I put # guests, time and Indianapolis in for the reservation. Anyway, it worked out okay, we got a table elsewhere and had a delicious dinner. I do feel I should receive points for the mistake. Just letting you know. Thank you! Karen
I was looking for seafood at a neighborhood place and found Capri. I had the grouper platter and it was cooked just to my liking. Further, there was such a large fillet on my plate that I took half home and had it the next day. The decor is old style Italian, red walls, heavy wood doors. Frank Sinatra was being piped in. a few regular couples were in the dining room.
We were warmly greeted. The waiter was helpful. The food was great. Our son requires Gluten Free food. They had lots of options. They brought him Gluten Free Rolls - a real win for him. All-in-all a wonderful meal in a lovely restaurant that was reasonably priced.
Food was good; I had linguine with red clam sauce, my wife had pasta carbonara. Both were solid. Service was attentive, but not intrusive. Atmosphere was very conducive to having a conversation as the noise level was not loud. Reasonable prices. Unpretentious, old school Italian restaurant.
My wife and I went with another couple so we could dine and spend some time catching up. The wait staff worked as a team with all the food coming at once. Our waiter was excellent and gave us very good wine advice. I had the grouper with a wonderful presentation and excellent taste. Half the group wants to return so they can have the grouper next time. We will return to this gem soon.
The food is serviceable - though nothing exceptional, to be honest - but the staff is very nice, and I love the ambience: red walls, small tables with white tablecloths and yellow roses, Sinatra/Dean Martin/Pavarotti over the sound system, the owners talking animatedly with familiar customers, etc. I felt as if I had walked into a restaurant frozen in time!
The wait staff was very attentive, the food was great, especially the desserts (though they were out of the tiramisu). We dined early (before 6) on a Sunday and it was pretty quiet when we arrived but the activity picked up considerably by the time we left. Tucked away in the corner of shopping center it is worth the find.
We went to Capri during Restaurant Week, when Capri offered a prix fixed menu for $30. This included an appetizer, an entree and a dessert. For each item, there was a choice of three items from the menu. The pasta appetizer was delicious, perfectly el dante. We enjoyed the chicken capri and the veal. The wine list was extensive. One only minor drawback was that Capri does not have a liquor license; cocktails are not available. Beer and wine list was extensive. 3 house white and red wines were available by the glass, 1/2 carafe, or carafe.
Capri is a little hard to find; it's in a corner of a strip mall. The restaurant has no windows, and the interior is dark. We would definitely return for the food and sevice.
I always enjoy Capri, but this time we had a young dark haired male server (I think that his name was Nick) who was terrible! Dino filled in taking our orders and trying to make sure that we were not ignored.
Nick was no where to be found most of the time, and when he did drop by our table, his attitude was neither friendly nor interested in us. I could not get him to bring our check even when I asked him to do so. I finally got another server to get us our check, which he promptly did, and when I asked Nick about it, he had an flimsy excuse.
Why did we dine here? Capri had good reviews on Open Table, and could take a large family group of nine people on a Saturday evening during graduation weekend in Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill. We traveled from out of town and did not know the area.
Capri is in a corner of a non-descript strip mall in north Raleigh. AND the door is hidden behind a little food court area. We were surprised and nervous when first arrived. Inside it's not too bad, though rather basic.
Service was OK, not excellent. Older staff that seems to know the locals, but not exceptional.
Food: also just OK. The lasagna tasted like it had been reheated. Cheese ravioli in pink sauce was popular with our three younger children. Side veggies were over cooked. Specials included Osso Bucco and Braciola - tried by two of us. Each was again 'good', not 'wow.
Wine choices: decent range of options. We had a nicer Brunello - and it was good.
Overall: Fine. Would not return.
Love the atmosphere here, and it's one of our favorite Italian restaurant in the area. Dino makes his customers feel right at home. We had a new waiter this time, and the service was not quite what we've come to expect, but I'm sure that was just a one-time experience. We both had the Caesar salad. My husband had lasagna and I had the eggplant Parmesan special. Everything was very tasty.
4 of us had an outstanding dining experience, as always, between being greeted by Dino and served by his son. Wonderful entrees of clams, shrimp, mussels over linguine with white sauce for 2 who also shared a caesar salad, calamari and half wedge/strawberry salad for other 2 and gluten free penne parmesan and tortellini parmesan. All were perfectly cooked and presented.
