Capri Italian Restaurant - Indianapolis Ratings and Reviews
where do I begin ? the furnace was out but we were seated in the main DR, where it was 60 !
were never offered to be moved to the bar area where the fireplace was warming those in there.
mngr never apologized nor "comped" any of our meal. shame on them, embarrassing !!!!
when the furnace is not working, a rest. should be closed for the evening !!!!
Service was, as always, very good. Food was not. The place has declined since new ownership took over. Not much but noticeably. Our food was timely delivered but partially cold. Meat warm to hot. Potatoes and mixed vegetables stone cold. No apparent capital investment has been made. Furniture is literally threadbare. Capri has been a great locally owned restaurant for years. Please don’t let it slowly decline.
This was our first experience with Capri and we could not be more pleased. Food and service were both excellent and the location had a great ambiance. I was also impressed to see the owner coming around and personally greeting all of his guests. This is something that I do not see all that often anymore and it really made our meal special
We will definitely be back
My wife and I went to Capri for a regular dinner. We both had the chicken lasagna and it is outstanding. It is not on the regular menu but it is a frequent special. We love it and were so happy they were serving it that night. The portions are good sized and we both had some to take home and we enjoyed it the next day as well. This is one of our favorite Italian restaurants in the city.
We have been regulars at Capri for some time and have had good experiences since the recent change in ownership/management overall. This is the second time we have had the same server in the bar and while she tries hard the evenings have always seemed just out of synch.
We waited on each item excessively, Had to ask for bread twice, did not get water or appetizer plates initially. had to ask about the specials, were not asked the cooking temps for our steaks and ultimately our food was served barely warm and overcooked.
Hope this helps corrections as we certainly would like to continue coming to Capri
Normally this place is excellent! IF they have a ragu special it is usually outstanding! This time I ordered a special which was supposed to be a veal ravioli, but apparently the kitchen changed it at the last minute and I was brought veal ossobucco with vegetables. The waitress should have asked me before she placed the order. It was very good and the waitress brought me a side of pasta since pasta was what I had really wanted. Again, this place is great most of the time and when there is a glitch, they are very good about making it right. The stuffed peppers are also great. I highly recommend this place.
Hadn't been to the Capri in years. I don't know when the renovations were made, but the interior and exterior dining areas are lovely! The service was 5* plus. Our server shared the lengthy memorized specials list and readily answered our menu questions. I chose the veal piccata - one of my favorites. It was perfect ! It came with steam veggies and au gratin potatoes, which were okay. I should have asked for a salad in place of them. Others in my party also gave high marks to their dishes - 2 had pasta and the other, veal. Two also had desserts - cannoli (which they accommodated with raspberry sauce) and the chocolate tortufo. Both were inhaled! We will all definitely choose Capri again.
we dine on Sat. nights at the Capri unless we have another obligation, it has been our favorite dining place for many years, and we love Ismail, he is not only a wonderful server but a friend we look forward to seeing on Sat evening. we do miss the warmth of the Capri with Arturo, he made an effort to know his customers and he was so good to the servers, however he had talked of selling for a long time, and life goes on and we will continue enjoying the food the servers at the Capri, hope to get to know the new staff in time, welcome to the best dining place in Indy. We had heard Capri had a new owner so we were excited to check it out since we had stopped going a few years back. It's no secret the terrible reputation the old owner, Arturo, had amongst people in the industry for his less than ethical way of doing business in addition to his poor sanitation practices. We arrived to a brand new parking lot! There were huge potholes in the lot about 3 years ago when we were last there so I can only imagine how big they became. There was a hostess who was very sweet, no grumpy only guy working the door anymore! Dinner was fantastic!! In talking with our server, it seems like the entire staff is excited about the new owner and the experience he brings. They said he has made several improvements to the restaurant already. I'm not sure exactly what besides the parking lot but we did notice new tvs and new stools at the bar. We are so excited about this place that we made a reservation for next week since we plan on making it a weekly dining spot now!
Normally we adore this restaurant but had several problems with this visit. We waited several minutes before a waiter came to take our drink order, then he seemingly forgot about us and only brought our drinks after a lengthy delay after making eye contact with my husband. I was also disappointed that the Chianti I ordered with dinner was unavailable. It seems there was a slight communication barrier with our waiter as well. I clearly ordered the pork chop special, which I heard him repeat back to me, and he brought me the pork chop from the regular menu, which came smothered in a cream sauce I didn't desire and with no polenta. All the waiter did was bring me a side of polenta but did nothing else to rectify his error. The food was good but overall I was disappointed with the overall experience.
It was obvious before we asked the question about whereabouts of Arturo de Rosso, the longtime owner of Capri that something was different. The menu wasn't as extensive. The food tasted fine, but its temperature just warm and except for the ever present water server, the rest of the service was only fair. We learned that Arturo sold the restaurant and, unfortunately, some of its high quality left as well.
