Very loud, small space and service is iffy.

Brunch menu options were excellent and overall pricing was a pleasant suprise. The Monte Christo french toast was amazing! Brunch for 3 with drinks for under $40!

People were jammed elbow to elbow. We had to wait close to a half hour to be waited on. There were people standing and crowding around our table because there was nowhere to sit. It was just too loud and crowded. BUT....your Bloody Mary's are fantastic!

The service was very friendly, and the kitchen accommodated some special requests for our brunch orders, but four of the five dishes arrived barely luke-warm to the table. The pancakes were very dry and needed both syrup and jam to be eaten. And one member of our group of five found a hair in his order of hash as he was finishing up. This is a group that goes out for a monthly brunch meet-up at different restaurants in Downtown and Midtown Sac, but we will not be adding Capitol Garage to our recurring rotation, based on this unfortunate experience.

Great little place. Food was delicious and the waitress was so much fun. She had a great personality and made being there really enjoyable. We’ll definitely go back.

Went to Cap Garage for an Easter brunch date. I used to go there about 5 years ago and the food was outstanding. Since then, they have changed their menu and the quality isn't as good. I would still recommend it, but there are better places to go to. The service was very slow. It wasn't particularly busy, even though it was a holiday. I had to ask several times to get water and it took a while to get the check. Overall, it was a decent experience and I'm always willing to give Cap Garage another chance, but not for a while.

Classic Sacramento restaurant! Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere! Love the vegan options!!! Makes it a great restaurant for a group with lots of different food needs.

It was a busy afternoon before the ballet at the Community Theater. The waitress told us it would be 45 minutes before we got our food, and she was overly busy serving inside and out. Two of the three of us had different forms of eggs Benedict, the best being served on a squash patty. Active bar scene for a Sunday afternoon. Very casual!

This was our 2nd time having dinner at the Capitol Garage before seeing a performance of the Sacramento Ballet at a nearby theater. We love the food and the service was great. Fun and tasty food options!

Capitol Garage is an all time favorite brunch spot! Delicious food and drinks. They have a small kitchen, so don’t come if you’re in a rush... but the bottomless mimosas make waiting pretty easy:)

Had a reservation and sat at the bar. We weren’t in a hurry but the service was SLOW! 15 minutes to get a drink and place our food order. Then they forgot our order so we got a piece of bread pudding as a consolation. It was delicious. When our food finally came out (an hour after we sat down!) the corned beef hash was WAY too salty and the Monte Cristo sandwich was ok. The Bloody Marys were good but the bartenders never noticed my empty glass and were pretty slow overall.

We had a reservation to eat here for Brunch before a 2pm play at the community center. After 40 mins of waiting for the food including a starter which we never got. They gave us an excuse that because its brunch we should expected a longer wait. They then told us it would be about another 10 mins. I think they lost our order which were 2 breakfast burritos and banana banuelos. I told the waiter that we needed to leave and we asked to pay of our drinks and they can cancel our food order. This was our first visit and we won't be coming back anytime soon.

We will try again. Yes it was a busy Sunday but we got no communication from our server about why the 45 min-hr wait for our food, no apology or explanation, no checking back with us about our needs. And in all my years I’ve never been served only one piece of bread with an order including toast.

We went there for dinner before a show. We were a little late due to some fumbling on our part but they say us and did everything possible to get us out the door in time. The theater is with in walking distance of the restaurant and we made it to the show with about 2 minutes to spare. We will try coming back on a less busy night. The shrimp tacos were delicious and our families favorite thing.

The food and service were fantastic! It was difficult to have a conversation because it’s very noisy. Definitely more of a party atmosphere. I would love to go back when it’s warm enough to eat outside.

Our server was very nice but it took 45 minutes to get our food after we ordered. It was to the point where we thought our check would arrive before our food. We had to wolf it down in order to make it to the theater in time. My food was fine but a friend's turkey gravy was extremely salty.

Celebrated friend's birthday, had dinner before show at Community Center Theater. Location was very convenient for this. We both had the garlic pulled chicken, and agreed it was excellent, with just the right amount of seasoning. Service was friendly and prompt enough for us to easily make the show with plenty of time to spare. Will definitely consider returning before or after theater, or just for the meal.

We went because it was a short walk from convention center and had vegan offerings for my guest from Seattle. The wine was good. Server was excellent, kitchen a little slow for such a quiet night. Vegan burger was just described as ok. Fries so so. I had the CG burger and enjoyed fresh bun, tasty meat, tomatoe, was green and lettuce limp. My fries were great.
but salad was lacking in crispness. Great oatmeal and raisin was very good. Coffees good.

Our group went for 'Dinner and a Drag Show,' and had a fantastic time. In the past we've had amazing meals at Capitol Garage, and expect we will again, as we've dined here numerous times over the years - but the dinner specials we ordered (the steak, the portabella mushroom) were bland and lukewarm. The place was absolutely packed, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We'll most likely be back this Saturday for the show.

It was actually a good lay back lunch. The wine was nonexistent but they have a full bar. Bloodies were excellent. Place is clean, menu was interesting sandwiches, tacos, hamburgers etc. The food was good, I had shrimp tacos, my friend had a burrito. The biggest burrito I've seen and was told it was good. Very inexpensive.

Was there on a Saturday night. The place was extremely busy, and there appeared to be only one server. It took over an hour to get our food, which we then had to wolf down, as we had tickets to the theatre. Not the server's fault that they were understaffed, but we also had to ask several times for water and our drinks.

Also, their wine list sucks.

Never had tried The Capitol Garage despite driving by it for 20+ years when traveling thru downtown Sac. Everything was nice from the funky decor to the pleasant service. The only downside was that it took 60 minutes from entering to the arrival of our brunch food. That seems that there was a glitch in the system somewhere as our orders were not that complicated (and we did not modify any dish from the standard menu). Will I go back- probably - but it may take another 20+ years.

Come for the beer, don’t bother with the food.

I generally don’t write reviews. A restaurant has to be either incredibly superb or a train wreck to get a few words out of me.
This trip yo the Garage left me thinking somebody should contact the NTSB.

This was my third trip to the Garage in it’s current location. I used to frequent the place in the original location on L Street, and found it to be a decent place to grab a coffee and quick meal on the go.

In it’s newest iteration, it is smaller and has more of a pub vibe. My best advice is to look at the Garage as a place to snag a pint of beer or a glass of wine (they seemed to have a decent lineup of beer and wine), but it isn’t someplace I’d recommend as a restaurant.

My daughter and I each ordered NY Strip steaks, medium rare. Our meals arrived a good 30 minutes after we placed our orders, which wasn’t horrible - but the place wasn’t busy.

Our steaks were reasonably close to medium rare, but they hit the table cold. They were oddly prepared, literally perched atop what appeared to be a quarter pound mound of whipped, semi-warm, semi-solid (not melted or melting) garlic butter. I took a small bite of the butter mound, thinking it might be mashed potatoes. ... Nope! The others in our group also complained of cold food, and were underwhelmed by their selections.

Again, this was our third - and final - trip to the Garage. The first two were for weekend brunch. These visits were more about service issues (forgotten & messed up orders) than funked-up food.

Never again.

First time here for Brunch. Although a bit “chilly” we sat outside because of our doggie. The service - Amrita you are awesome! - and food quality were outstanding! Great spot for “people watching” and the value for price paid is great. Would definitely recommend to others - especially dog parents- they are VERY dog-friendly!! We’ll be back...

Came in for dinner before theatre show. Service was slow...had to actually get our waiters attention to ask for a drink while we waited for the rest of our party. Food took quite a while to come out (place wasn't too busy)...check took forever (again, had to track down our waiter after we had been finished for about 10 min). Accidentally got the lunch menu first, which looked better than the dinner menu. I'm thinking this place must be much better for lunch. Dinner here seems like an afterthought.
