Capital Seafood Beverly Hills
Dim Sum served everyday from 11:00 - 3:00pm
Live Seafood and Chinese Menu served all day
The place was completely empty. Manager / owner was screaming and yelling at servers. He was so rude, we left. We would never go back.
The food was great. Everyone thought the food was authentic. The place was clean and the service was top notch. The prices were on the high side and I assume it’s because of the location. Nonetheless I would go back.
Well worth staying close to home and scoring a table with a reservation in a beautiful restaurant. Service is abrupt, and not very gracious, but the dim sum is excellent.
Wrong order came out of kitchen. Everything was bland and not as described on menu
So excited there’s good dim sum on the west side now! We need more chinese restaurants on the west side and not just in Beverly Hills!
Our server was excellent, well-informed about the food preparation, and very personable. Portions were big. The sea bass with black bean sauce was very good. My wife had the honeyed shrimp with walnuts; the fruit beneath the shrimp were "dressed" with mayonnaise, which was unfortunate. Tell them to hold the mayo.
Had dim sum at Capital Seafood Beverly Hills yesterday. I love dim sum! The dim sum here is very very good. Not as good as Elite Restaurant out in Monterey Park, but pretty close. I’ve never been to the Capital Seafood restaurant out in that area, so I can’t speak to the difference. There were some outstanding things to eat. The Chinese Broccoli was great. I loved the way it was prepared. The pork shu mai was also excellent. The turnip cake, first rate. We also had a fried scallop and shrimp ball that was quite amazing. The only dish that was not so great was the baked sausage roll. I was expecting a Chinese sausage, which I love, but instead, it was a hot dog. I guess, a Chinese Dodger Dog. Not good. The service was terrific, also. Two things that beat the Monterey Park area.....they take reservations so no long long wait, and the parking is easy. All in all, I’ll be back when I don’t feel like the long trip out to MP.
Excellent dim sum ... great location ... and best of all > they take reservation!
Cantonese seafood on the Westside. Service is very lacking- abrupt, bordering on rude. Food quality is ok. Saves a trip to SGV.
I made a reservation for my friends birthday and we all enjoyed every bite of our food. Price was reasonable for a group when sharing everything; this is definitely a family style restaurant. I wish they did something for birthdays (or maybe they didn't look at the online reservation request) because they did not sing or give a free dessert like most places do. Other than that I would return again.
Our waiter Jayson was fantastic
Most favorite dim sum experience in West LA
Relocating from Brooklyn 30 years ago ... and a lifelong tradition of having dim sum almost every weekend - the LA pivot was to Ocean Seafood in Chinatown. Then, a tectonic explosion of variety shook the San Gabriel Valley (888 was the place for us ... then declined ... & has gotten good again), but it’s a haul from North Hollywood. Lunasia in Pasadena became our ‘go to’ because of their excellent & somewhat hard to find XO noodles, but like most dim sum purveyors, no reservation policy equates to long wait times. Capitol Seafood in Beverly Hills (yes Beverly Hill) on Restaurant Row, opened last year & ticks all the boxes. Most notably, the food is great ... their XO noodles define ‘umami’ with garlic & dried shrimp replacing XO sauce & they are delicious. All the staples ... har gow, char sui bao, long bow are as good as anywhere, and their shrimp & chive dumplings are an interesting twist on my favorite ‘steamed triangles’. And ... they take reservations.
Jayson our server was particularly outstanding
Very polite service and nice Chinese sea food.
New addition to La Cienega community and very welcomed since there are no goos chinese restaurant around Beverly Hills area.
Not to mention about the taste of their food, Especially their service way was fantastic.
Very friend and polite.
Wine value also good!
2017 Groth Chardonnay was about $55 whose retail price is $25~$30
Definitely we will return
Food was great! Can’t even taste the oil even if most of the items we had were deep fried. Service was really good too and food came out really fast.
The food and the service was very good. We will go back for Dim Sum. We had some appetizers and were full pretty quickly. We also had half a Duck - excellent. The food is best eaten family style.
The only negative was our table. We were sort of seated in the walk way to and from the kitchen. Also, other guests congregated near our table and held endless discussions with no concern about intruding into our space. This was not really the restaurant's fault, but could have been managed by the staff by directing the guests to stand elsewhere.
The dim sum were perfect, the roast duck succulent, the Hong Kong noodles with seafood tasty and filling. Big portions and a welcome addition to Beverly Hills Chinese.
This food is expertly prepared; not Americanized. The service is just so warm and friendly. Now our go-to Chinese place since the closer place changed ownership and went downhill.
The food was all the same. The service was horrible. We had to wait over an hour for our rice to come. Overall experience is just horrible. Do not recommend anything go there to eat
It was Christmas night and I don’t think the kitchen was ready for the onslaught. We were in the smaller room and every other table there was complaining and being very vocal about their wait time. It made the whole night very tense and uncomfortable. Luckily we were patient and got our food — although we never had more than one dish on the table at a time. The kitchen was behind. Next big holiday, they need to space out the rez better so the kitchen can pace correctly. Disgruntled patrons are not appealing at all.
Awesome-worth every penny and would go again!
The food was good - the service impeccable. Very authentic high end Chinese food experience. A perfect Jewish Christmas Day meal.
Really like it that they take reservations for large parties for Christmas Day - we went there for Dim Sum. The food was very good, nice selection of dim sums and their Pecking Duck was excellent.
I don't know where to start, but maybe I'll start by saying thank you very much for ruining our family holiday & birthday celebration. We ordered 4-lb lobster, which had no meat (just shells and sauce for $88), then they forgot two of four orders, which took them forever to realize. Extremely bad service, and waste of time and money. Beverly Hills is a tough market to compete in, and good luck surviving in this town. Many other better options in town. Good luck.
Great place for dim sum on the westside on restaurant row. But of course more expensive than dimsum in SGV. But if you live on the westside, this place is an option! Great service and $5.50 flat fee self parking.
Perfect place for real dim sum in L.A. Finally! I've already been there twice for dim sum. Returning soon for dinner. The only dim sum that wasn't good this second time was the fried crueller wrapped in rice noodle. The first time I had it, it was great. This time the crueller was overfried and the noodle was cold. Aside from that, it was good.
Our experience was not good. Seated us and gave us menus but no server came over to our table for 15 minutes. We ordered wine and water. Took 3 requests for the water. They brought tea & edamame. Took 10 more minutes to take the order. Ordered 2 appetizers and 2 entrees and a noodle dish. Took 15 more minutes for the stuffed chicken roll to come out. It was slimey and had no flavor. Then they brought the noodles. Where is the scallion pancake? Take another 15 minutes, we told them to forget that. Take noodles back. Brought roast duck. Skin nice and crispy, duck meat like rubber. Brought back noodles, now at room temperature. 10 minutes later, brought out fish in sweet chili oil. That was the only dish that was good.
They did have 5 big groups but so maybe they were overwhelmed but I would NEVER go back as the food was mediocre at best.
The food is amazing. Our server, Ping was "the Best", and she truly added to the experience of dining at Capitol Seafood. A great addition to the area.
Every dish was well-executed. The Peking (Beijing) Duck was moist inside with perfectly crisped skin, one of the better preparations I’ve eaten outside of China. The vegetables were fresh and not overcooked. The scrambled eggs with shrimp were flavorful, with fluffy, light eggs and a generous amount of shrimp. The service was attentive but not intrusive and the servers were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The next time I’m in LA, I will definitely visit again.
really enjoyed the food. Had seafood delight and mongolian beef. All done very well. The room is very nice and the service was very attentive. It is more expensive than other Chinese restaurants but it is worth it. It is also very close to our home so that is a big plus.
They were extremely helpful with adjusting our order for one of our dining group who could not have soy. One of the best Peking ducks my dining partners have enjoyed especially for being more centrally located and not in Monterey Park or Alhambra. Very authentic cuisine options, orders were well spaced and timed, and generous portions. If you want Peking duck and don't want to drive too far, this newly opened Capital Seafood location in Beverly Hills is a great destination. Reservations were easy to make, and parking is available in back for $5.50. Definitely try the eggplant and green beans, too! We got the smaller lobster dish which was $38 but the lobster wasn't that meaty, if we had a larger party I would've wanted to order the 4lb order but that is a lot more expensive, worth it if you have a larger group who all eat lobster.
Very authentic Chinese food. We especially enjoyed the beef tips and the fried fish.
Food was great. We really enjoyed our lunch.
This is the best chinese food on the Westside of LA.... Always a good choice
Good Chinese food with some unique dishes.
Good good good good good good
Great service and food
The food and the service can’t be beaten. I’ve been there two times for dim sum last much and once for a special 10 person feast. This was all done within a seven day period.
Yes. That’s how great it is.
Excellent food very able service ambience was something to be desired
