Food and atmosphere was good. Food arrival was slow. Our waitress was very good.
Such a great experience! Decent service. Amazing Valentines menu with incredible food. 10/10 will go back.
I have eaten at the Capital Gastro pub on several occasions. Always the food was elegant and delicious. The beverages were good and many choices. My husband and I went on new years eve and were terribly disappointed. The food was mediocre and not at all creative. They actually served almost identical potato chowder then "mashed potatoes" that were strikingly similar with my very tiny portion of prime rib. There were few other diners and the server did not seem as if she normally served I'm guessing she was bar staff. There was also cork floating in my first glass of wine. The drinks seemed to be about half their normal offering. We had debated going to a different restrauant but had gone with the Gastro pub because they had always been so good in the past. It is doubtful we will be back, the bill was $110, but the food, service and ambiance warranted about half that much.
It was terrible. It was like eating plastic and waiting for Father Time. Our server thought she was Janet Jackson Banderos in a leather jumpsuit and bolero. The chocolate mousse was cool whip and Hershey's syrup. I know because I used to sneak tubs of it under the buffet table when I was four.
Made a reservation only to find a Christmas party going on. Was extremely loud and no one helped us. Would have been nice to be told there was nothing available. Very very poor customer service, no interest in a return visit
The restaurant was closed despite Open Table reservation so I was not able to dine.
Most disappointing experience ever on Restaurant Row. We were the only ones in the restaurant at 6 pm on a warm, October Friday. The music was turned up very loud. There were no specials or soups available. Appetizers - tempura cauliflower and cheese/artichoke dip - were okay. Scallops with coconut rice came out looking uncooked - everything was white and had no flavor. Beef Wellington was seasoned well but beef was cool at the ends and slightly warmer toward the center. In the middle of the meal, smoke started wafting in - we were seated in a booth along the back wall - and the waiter said it was from people sitting at a table by the front door.
We had a wonderful time until my burger came out raw. Like ground beef worthy, raw. We asked the server to take it back and she did and she came back with it maybe microwaved for 30 seconds. Still raw. We asked her to take it back again and when it came back raw again, I wanted a refund. That's not okay. So the manager said no initially and finally gave us 20% off of the burger that I couldn't even eat. That's NOT okay. He didn't even have the nerve to come talk to me himself. Find yourself some new management and I think the restaurant would be worthy of going to again.
Was traveling to Harrisburg Pennsylvania for work in the capital Gastro pub pictures look good on OpenTable. Plus it was a short walk.
On the plus side we said at the upstairs outside bar which was very nice.
On the con side, The service was OK we ordered the deconstructed beef Wellington and it was way overcooked. And it was very pricey for the quality of food we got.
We drove 40 min to get here and even though we had a confirmed reservation, when we arrived they were closed!
Great atmosphere and food. Service was spot on ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Awesome- will visit again soon, everything was perfect!
Food was great, jazz band playing. We dined on the rooftop and lived it. Will definitely go back
Two guys at the bar and my wife and I at a high top......the only patrons in the place. Cheese plate showed up without bread ........below average quality. Not even close to the overall rating in Open Table
The server was figuring her way around her first day at work, so I can't properly comment on service. Good cocktail selections. Burgers are delicious. We sat on the rooftop and looked onto the main drag in Harrisburg. Lots of pub fare so do not expect singing fancy.
This was my first time dining at the Capital GastroPub. My husband and I came here for a date night to check out the live music and the food, and we definitely were not disappointed. The food was amazingly delicious and the music was wonderful! We will definitely be coming back again.
Fabulous night listening to live music! Had a reservation for the rooftop bar/dining area to listen to Lucille and The Wolf. they put on a great show! We ordered the lox for an appetizer which were delicious! (more mustard is needed though) For dinner, I had the Caribbean inspired grilled romaine salad with steak and shrimp and hubby had a seafood dish– both were executed very well and delicious! just enough for Friday night. Will go again...
Sadly, it was recommended to me.
Restaurant smelled of dirty water and the floors where sticky.
Service was sub par.
Food was dry and not prepared as requested, medium rare is not well done. Shrimp is not supposed to be brick hard.
The entertainment, a grizzly musician who couldn't carry a tune in a box and his backup singer who probably should find a Day job, butchered every tune.
The manager running an interview in a booth next to us, what is this McDonalds?
If it wasn't for my gift certificate's, I would have bailed after my first drink.
Sorry but nope, not again.
Made a reservation for 830. Walk
The rooftop dining area was a lot of fun and food was, once again, great.
Made reservations through Open Table and showed up to lights on, locked door, not a soul in sight. I sent an email to the management stating the situation and the disappointment I felt.
The manager called a few days later and was very apologetic. She offered to comp a meal and round, but we respectfully declined, as situations like these leave a bad taste in my mouth, and that is not what I want walking in the door. Hopefully one day I'll be able to let it go and give them a try, but there are so many other options in the area, it may take awhile.
Service was great. Atmosphere is quite nice. Our entrees were terribly bland. It didn't taste like there was any seasoning used on the chicken and the mac 'n cheese was not flavorful at all. Disappointed in our entrees. We'd return for the drinks though!
Food and service were very good. Nice beer selection, too. Burgers, house-cut fries, veggie burger, and grilled romaine salad - were all perfect. House made honey mustard was a plus! Dinner or lunch, you should go there.
The rooftop garden was perfect for enjoying the weather. The food and drinks were excellent. The service was amazing. Great place for having a good time.
ROOFTOP LOUNGE IS NICE, STAFF WAS VERY ACCOMIDATING
The food is incredible and my waiter was awesome. The live music made the experience even better.
Don't understand the low reviews? I think service may have been spotty in the past but Leyla (?) was awesome. Food has always been very good. Awesome burger
A band started playing at 7:00 which I love live music anywhere, anytime. Server was brand new but was very helpful and eager. My husband and I split an entrée and order two additional sides and it was MORE than enough food. The portions were large. Food was good and the bar menu was versatile. Would go back.
Decided to try it out after looking at the menu and some reviews. Layla was FANTASTIC! Very attentive, polite, conversational, and FUN.
We invited a couple we're friends with and they loved it as much as we did. The food presentation was top notch, especially the surf and turf salad. Our friends had to take photos. Everything was delicious and very well presented. The server was attentive and had a great sense of humor. The martinis were perfect. Not your typical restaurant and totally worth a visit.
My wife and I had a wonderful dining experience here, food, service and drinks were all great. We especially enjoyed the live music by The Visitors.
Service was good, but the food was very run of the mill. As my son said, I could have made this.
Even though place was empty we were seated near kitchen- obvious door way to outback where staff smoke since we would get cold air occasionally and cigarette smoke smell. Our waiter had tobacco chew in his mouth. The drinks were way too strong. I could go one. It was not worth going there
Very quiet for a Friday. We were one of two or three tables. Our Bartender/Waitress was wonderful and the Chef visited us twice with suggestions and food origin questions.
First time visit, therefore, I didn't go through all the categorizes that may apply. We love the city life and trying unique restaurants. We were early and the only patrons. When we left at 6:00 we were still the only patrons. We are new to the area and it could simply be because we ate too early. If people in Harrisburg area tend to eat later in the evening then we were too early to determine the overall environment.
Loved the decor and ambience. Upscale, trendy, but still casual.
I would go back a second time for a better feel as to the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. I thought the food was good, but not great. It was above par, therefore, I would go back a second time and try different foods. Cheese platter was excellent. I had the fish combo (shrimp, scallops, and crab cake). I love garlic, but it over powered the the butter and seafood. Because of this I wouldn't order it again. My husband ordered the burger (I don't remember which one) and enjoyed it enough to say he'd order it again. It looked fantastic. Give it go.
Sadly I forgot the name of our waitress. She was fantastic. Very friendly and took time to give us tips in the area as new residents.
We had a delightful time, were treated well from the moment we walked in, and enjoyed every item we ordered quite a bit! We recommend this restaurant for sure!
Great food. Amazing service!
Food was decent. Made a reservation but 75% of the restaurant was empty at 7:30 on a beautiful warm February evening.
Fantastic place! The food is creative and always good. Excellent staff. You can't go wrong with this place. We love it!
The limited menu was a little too limited for the price scale. But overall the food was good and do was the service!!
