Capital City Chop House
For decades, the Chop House has obsessed over one thing: quality. We start with the best steaks, seafood and chops we can find, cook them exactly to your liking, then inspect every plate twice before serving you. At every turn, we pay special attention to the details. It’s these little details that all melt together to make a truly extraordinary meal.
We believe premium ingredients are only as good as the chefs who prepare and cook them. We also believe a legendary menu falls flat without legendary service to serve it up. So whether it’s a business lunch, happy hour or date night, join us for a bona fide meal made the right way — all in an atmosphere where you can relax and be yourself.
Capital City Chop House sits right outside of Raleigh, making it easily accessible from most places in the Triangle. It’s within striking distance of Research Triangle Park, and it’s just a stone’s throw from RDU Airport.
Six or ten ounce center cut tenderloin
Baked lumps of crab in a creamy cheese blend served with toasted naan points
Food was very good. Soup and creamed spinach were a bit too salty for my taste. Beef filet was excellent. Service was good.
The ambience and service are excellent. The noise in the main dining room was excessive and led us to request eating in the bar area. It was much more relaxing there. The food was not as good as I remember from several years ago. It was decent, but nothing to rave about.
Outstanding food, first class service and perfect ambience!
The overall experience was great. The food was incredible and the service was fantastic. Only complaint is the cost of add-on option for the amount received. I ordered an add-on grilled shrimp for $8 and received 3 grilled shrimps. Not a good value.
Cindy was fantastic! Our server (I think his name was Bill) was very nice and even provided a complimentary birthday dessert. Ambiance perfect, a little too quiet but I believe it’s because of the time of day when we dined in (5pm). Great date spot!!
Great meat selection without standing flavor and tenderness, filet was very good with Cajun sauce. I highly recommend
Great food and service
Very good steakhouse for a casual and fairly inexpensive steak. Menu has many other options as well. This steak is Angus beef-----it is NOT prime meat.
Good price performer as meal includes salad or soup and a side dish.
You get out at about 1/2 of the price at Ruth Chris but bear in mind it is NOT prime which Ruth Chris is.
So, this is our weekday steak house and Ruth Chris is weekends.
We have never been disappointed with this restaurant. It is a wonderful, hidden gem. The food, service and ambiance are wonderful. Everyone who hasn’t tried CCC has missed a special experience.
I’m sorry can’t remember the waitress names. We sat in the back room that look like a library. We had a wonderful time
Did not feel welcomed. An employee let the door go on my mother after holding it for another couple
Loved our server, Kate
She was attentive and had a great sense of humor
We were nervous that being closed for Covid may have caused their dining experience to decline as it has with several fine dining restaurants. However, their food and service have maintained the high quality they had before the pandemic. So glad to see them open and doing well.
Dinner was delicious,we made early 4:30 reservation so hopefully wouldn’t be too crowded, We’ noticed the spaced seating and that COVID-19 procedures were in place , Crab dip and Fried oyster Salad were my meal and they were best I have ever tasted . Mom had Salmon and sautéed spinach and jasmine rice . We left full .Great service and friendly Chefs as kitchen was open to dinners . We will return
I cannot give a good review because I made reservations that were confirmed I got there with my wife to celebrate my retirement and it’s closed till April 20 that’s two weeks away. How can any place except reservations give you a confirmation then want to review when they’re closed for two weeks? I think it sucks! We’re not going to Angus barn we’re lucky getting there
Prompt and courteous service , great food and wine selection.
Highly recommend this restaurant. My husband and I went to the Capital City Chop House for New Year’s Eve dinner. My husband had the 6 oz filet cooked medium rare plus. The filet was perfectly cooked and nicely presented. I mention this because recently we have not been able to get a passable filet even at some very expensive and well known steakhouses. My salmon was also perfect. Friendly and efficient staff and a lovely quiet !atmosphere. It is located near RDU airport so it is easy to get to and there is lots of free parking.
It was New Years and our Anniversary. We were treated special and the service and food were outstanding
Waitress came over never stated her name or gave a proper greeting. She also never returned during dinner to check on our table, did not take the correct drink order and overall was not a happy person. Service sucked!
Celebrated a Birthday there, everything and everyone was very good.
Service was lackluster. The meal was ok, but not worth the price. For the price point, I expect more. They should take notes from Sullivans. I probably won't return.
Good food for a great price
Eating at the Capital City Chop House this time was the best ever and yet I have always rated them five stars. From Bill our waiter to the greatness of the food to the stop-by from the owner/Manager, to the socially distant table we were seated at, it was a spectacular evening. New friends who recently moved to our community raved about it as well. They said, “Best in the area.”
They have rebounded from the Corona/virus in style.
Love the idea of a complete meal for the price of a good steak. Salad, steak and a side dish. Greta value.
Only thing I would like to see, and be willing to pay for, would be for the steaks to be PRIME. The current angus beef is very good but like Ruth Chris a PRIME steak would rate a solid 5.
Food was excellent and very well plated. My husband and I both had filet mignon and it was mouthwatering.
Expensive for what it was. Mashed potatoes were cold. Wouldn’t even melt the cheese . Steak and salad were good though.
I took my wife our for a simple date and really enjoyed the evening. The crab dip crab bisque and salmon were amazing along with the wait staff.
The Chop House never disappoints!
We enjoyed our experience there. We went for my wife's birthday and she felt extremely special. We will definitely be back.
Food and service was excellent - I had Flat Iron steak and my date had the Sea Bass. She really enjoyed her dish and the steak was cooked perfectly.
I have a very restrictive diet and my date has gluten intolerance - so we are difficult without trying to be and the wait staff was VERY understanding and helpful.
Great way to celebrate a special occasion.
Service was good, social distancing good. Crab soup was way too salty even for a salt-aholic.
The food was excellent. This was my 4th time there and my wife's first. She now wants to go back again. Great atmosphere, conducive to having a private conversation. Service was great! Excellent value for the cost (food, service, atmosphere).
Excellent. Really good food. Nice atmosphere and first class service.
This used to be a “go to place” for great food and top notch service. The service was terrible. Waited 20 min each time to see our server, no water refills, and empty tables were not bused. Managers were standing around and not helping the wait staff. The food was very good. But we will not be back.
The prime was not as good as we have had in the past. It was ok but did not blow us away like the first time we ordered it. Much thinner and appeared less then 12oz. None-the- less, service was above and beyond. The server went the extra extra mile to ensure we had a good time.
Nice lunch. Thanks!
In the 15 or so years I've lived in the Raleigh-Durham area, I've eaten here more than a handful of times, each time being quite memorable, and this visit was no exception. The rib-eye was perfect. Dessert was very good. The crab dip was the perfect starter, and South African Cabernet goes well with a steak.
The ambiance of eating in the Library is nearly perfect as well. When the large party arrived, it started to get noisy. My dared my bride to remind them they were in the library ;) but she didn't.
One complaint - make sure there is TP in the men's room before the dinner rush starts.
A great place to celebrate a special occasion!
