Cape Fear Seafood Company - Porters Neck
The food was delicious and our server was terrific! My daughter-in-law was uncertain of what wine she might enjoy so he recommended one that she thoroughly enjoyed. They were out of the wine I ordered so he brought me a different brand and it was very good. He was very attentive without being intrusive. The only drawback to the evening was that the area was very noisy, to the point that it was difficult to converse with the other members of our party.
Everything was very good. I had the special which was surf and turf in a Alfredo sauce. It was excellent. The only thing I can see for improvement would be the steak could have been more tender.
We were on vacation and found this gem on open table
Food was so so. There is a difference in Steamed and Boiled. The shrimp was not steamed as advertised.
Food was excellent! Large portions.
Noise level from the bar very loud.
Ambience just OK - located in busy shopping center. We enjoyed the meal very much.
Great food and service!! I highly recommend trying.
the service was excellent, the specials were wonderful, the entrees were all fresh seafood cooked exquisitly
Amazing food and amazing drinks. Nice, quality place. Easily reccomend to anyone. We had lobster rissoto and shrimp and grits. Both were outstanding. Had a great dirty martini and something called the good the bad and the ugly. Both made to perfection. Will definetly be back.
This restaurant needs to have a room designated for groups. When I dined there last week with a friend, we were seated in a back room directly next to a table of 20 or more people, all of whom were talking constantly.
Not a good dining experience. Will not go there again unless I can be assured my guest and I will not be seated next to a huge group of very noisy people.
Food was sooo good and service was great and fast. Waitress was so friendly and she made sure we were happy. No complaints from our party of four. Best seafood around.
We asked for the back dining room for less noise. It was quieter but this place is still very noisy. Waiter was excellent. Okra appetizer was surprisingly delicious (and huge) as were the bread and shrimp and grits. Good quality seafood. We will be back.
Really liked this place! Food was delicious. It’s a little loud in there but there’s not much they can do about that. I’ll definitely go back.
This was my second visit to this restaurant. I was disappointed this time after being very impressed the first time I went. My fish was undercooked and the accompanying vegetable was not well prepared. One of my friends sent his fish back because it was undercooked.
Food was great but overpriced more in line with Boston atmosphere was not in line with price
This was our first time at the restaurant. We were celebrating one of our son's birthday. We had great service and wonderful meals. Two of us had the fish special and it was fabulous. One of our sons said his salmon was the best he had ever had. We have recently moved to Wilmington and will definitely be back. Great experience.
One of our favorites. The fresh catch is always our choice.
We had not been to this restaurant for a while and were very disappointed. We knew it was noisy, but were prepared to put up with that because the last time we went the food was good.
However, this visit was very different. My husband had to send back his shrimp as they were very spicy, which was not mentioned on the menu or by the waitress. He then ordered fish and chips and he wasn't satisfied with that either. I ordered salad with scallops and was disappointed to be presented with scallops which were not whole and they were covered in batter.
All in all the visit was a disaster and we will not be going back again.
We went hoping for some excellent seafood. It was okay, but we have had better elsewhere. All the dishes we ordered were super salty, except the crab cakes, which were incredibly flavorless. It was a disappointment, considering the great reviews this place has. The hostess was stonefaced and unwelcoming, but luckily our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Her suggestions weren't the best (we got some unenjoyable beer at her suggestion and didn't finish it ). We will skip this place next time we are in town, more than likely.
We went for late lunch. Had a very simple seafood dishes. There were absolutely delicious. The food was very fresh, very well prepared and well served.
And all this past normal lunch time. Highly recommend if you are interested in good food.
Great locally owned restaurant! Delicious fresh local seafood and outstanding steaks. The Cape Fear Shrimp and Grits are the BEST IN TOWN! They do take reservations even if there is just 2 of you.
The food is great. Been there 4-5 times, everything always good. Service good, drinks good. Just celebrated our 50th and they made it special. Thank you!
Seafood was fresh, shrimp and grits was custom-made without bacon, waitress was pleasant.
We had asked for a quiet table when reserving but it was not marked so we were seated where it got too noisy. Otherwise all fine.
Not all restaurants with excellent reviews are created. This was outstanding. Shrimp and grits, lobster shrimp risotto as well as Bloody Mary oyster appetizer all top notch.
My son was visiting from Nebraska and wanted fish---so where else to take him but the best fish restaurant in Wilmington. He thoroughly enjoyed everything.
Simply amazing! Food and service are outstanding. Only criticism is that it is a bit loud with a packed house.
Very good service and menu choices. Seafood was delicious and cooked as ordered. Prices were reasonable given quality ingredients and expert preparation. I plan to come back for future meals and would not hesitate to come here for special occasions or with out-of-town guests.
The seafood and service was wonderful, as always. One of our favorite restaurants.
Had a very nice family lunch on a Sunday. Reminiscent of NC Coastal restaurants that used to be abundant in the area. Glad that someone is keeping that cuisine alive. Delicious Oysters, Scallops & Okra!
My husband and I tried this restaurant for New Year's Eve dinner. They had wonderful seafood specials, and the menu had a wide variety of fresh seafood dishes that ranged from tacos and sandwiches to full meals. We had two excellent glasses of wine, picked from a nice list of wines, and felt so comfortable we even ordered dessert, which was also excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will return in the near future to try some of the other dishes.
Delicious as always. Service was great even on a busy New Year’s Eve!
Food was fantastic. Service not so great. Started cleaning plates immediately before others at table were finished. It was clear that there was a rush to turn over the table. Wanted a cup of coffee and server was done w us.
Calamari was over breaded, crab cake tasteless, seafood platter average at best. Waitress and manager were very competent.
This was my first time at a Cape Fear Seafood Company Restaurant. And it certainly won’t be my last! We ate at the Porters Neck location—there’s another one in Wilmington and one in Leland. We had a great seat at the window, which allowed for people watching as well as being away from the hubbub of the main dining room. Our dinners, including sirloin steak and broiled scallops, were delicious, as were the sides. The menu is extensive, offering something for every taste! Get the crab dip—awesome!!
The service was outstanding, especially since the waitperson also had a large party across from us. She was friendly, efficient, and prompt with our requests.
Port City Fish Company is on my list of favorite restaurants—and I’ll be returning soon. Make sure you get a reservations! It’s a very popular place.
Wonderful server and delicious food!
Wonderful food. Great experience
Food was good. We were seated in the back room so I can't speak to the atmosphere--there wasn't any. Waiter was attentive. Hostess was unfriendly.
Good food especially shrimp and grits. Casual. Noise level high.
It was very good! We enjoyed the quick service and friendly staff. The environment was nice and clean. Great restaurant.
Excellent food and service
Cape Fear Seafood is a very relaxed restaurant to have a family member's birthday dinner. We sat in a curved booth which makes conversation easy for a group. The calamari is the best in Wilmington and I have tried it at several restaurants. My daughter-in-law doesn't even like calamari and she loved it. The food, service and location makes this a favorite restaurant for me.
