CFSC is one of our favorites - I am always very happy with the entire experience, but mostly with the food! Four of us dined this last time and all dishes were very good - flavorful, prepared correctly, and not overcooked. The seasonal menu, both the starter and the catfish, were great, and the stuffed flounder was fabulous. The Key Lime pie for desert was lovely. The beignets were the only disappointment - way too heavy and undercooked, tough, and not enough powered sugar. But everything else was great. Service was very good, and our table (reserved here) was ready within 2 minutes of our arrival (lots of other people in the tiny lobby waiting for tables).

Dinner was excellent, and our out-of-town guests, coming for seafood, left contented. I thought the lobster mac 'n cheese was nice but nothing to Tweet about, but the ordinary house salad had some pleasant surprises. Everyone else was content. Noise level was a little high, but for a busy Saturday, it was an agreeable two hours.

The food taste was just ok. Nothing compared to the hype. Didn't need to drive all the way there. Potatoes too salty couldn't eat them. Mahi Mahi (catch of the day) got it blackened but was bland. Mango salsa .... really ... a few small chunks of under ripe mango with nothing added to it. The service seemed rushed. The margaritas were very sour. The price seemed high for what you got ... quality not quantity

The food was excellent but I wish I could give 10 starts to our waitress, Cheltz! She met all our needs with helpful sincerity including dietary restrictions and dealing with a toddler. She truly made our dining experience top notch!

Cape Fear offers something for everyone. Small plates, good soups, specials, appetizers, some of the most inexpensive seafood baskets around and expertly fixed full dinners. Last night the Special fried catfish with collards and the oyster basket were both really good. Reasonable priced wines.
