Well, it was our fist time visiting this restaurant, it was my wife's birthday, I made the reservation with a specific note of her birthday.....aaand we got the worst table location in the place. So as we sat next to the staging area for dirty dishes from the "privileged" customers, which doubled as the storage spot for the broom; we tried to make the most of the moment. By the end of the meal, a server blew past us with a candle-lit dessert; unfortunately, my wife was never presented with this now-common-complimentary treat. Our Server, Hugo, was friendly. However, the $130 ticket stings - A LOT, given the poor seating. A couple of big misses can not only damper the "special occasion" experience, but it can seem a bit degrading. It was like we made our reservation via a scalper (sorry, Open Table) and found ourselves in the seats behind a load bearing column next to the stadium restrooms. Maybe the hostess presumed we would provide an insufficient gratuity or we didn't appear to be regulars, so we got the nudge-nudge wink-wink "corner" table. My wife is a pretty snazzy dresser and I wore my Italian dress shoes (the pair that requires a shoehorn), so I'm not sure how we got the table in the slums. I walked around the restaurant and every other table looked to be in a better location, hmmm. The birthday miss. Not sure what happened there, but I hope the person in the kitchen wasn't the same person that missed that piece of information. A great risotto or Sea Bass dish is not for those who struggle with a lack of detail. A nice "Happy Birthday" would have been well received (we're simple folks), a Happy Birthday song (Stevie Wonder version) would have been great, and a small dessert with a candle would have made the $130 easier to digest (sorry it still stings). I guess it goes without saying that we'll never patron this restaurant again - based on where we were seated, I don't think it would matter to the owners or managers either way.

I hadn't been back to Cantoro's since before the pandemic, but it was as wonderful as I remembered. I brought a group of friends there to celebrate a colleague's award and the experience was great: excellent wait staff, superb food, and lovely ambience (we sat near the fire place in the west room with all the lovely windows).

We always enjoy Cantoro’s. The food is outstanding every time. We topped off lunch with some gelato. We all got a different flavor and they were all delicious. Our waitress was Rebecca (we asked for her) and she’s the best! Another great dining experience for us. Thank you!

It was my husbands first time to the restaurant, food was great but we were sat right next to the hostess stand. Lots of people gathering around our table, wine table was right behind us, so seemed like lots of traffic and super loud with groups gathering for their table. Also, was celebrating a 50th birthday, told the waitress and nothing special was done. Not a huge deal, she told us up front she was taking care of a party upstairs also, but was hoping for something on such a special occasion. All that being said, it would not deter us from coming back, just a disappointing night.

Robin is a fabulous server who always makes our dining a lovely experience. The food is delicious, timed out well and worth a return visit. The only cons, in my view, is the cooler temperature, definitely bring a sweater and the fact that so many of the tables are ‘two tops’. My partner and I usually like to share two appetizers prior to our meals and with wine glasses, water glasses and plates on the tables, it feels rather cramped. Otherwise, a truly delightful place.

We have not been to Cantoro's for a few months (been out of town) and forgot how good the food was!! I am glad that we can make reservations. The wait staff is well-trained and efficient and cordial. Glad the bar carries a Reisling white wine. Our favorite. Was impressed that the head hostess remembered who we were and what kind of wine we liked. Wow. Rather noise, however. Hard to hear each other talk. Would be nice if something could be done to cushion the noise. Sometimes even our waiter can't hear us. Bring back the lemon/pistachio cake? Yummy.

The food is perhaps the best Italian that I've found in SE Michigan and the service is always excellent. They have a varied menu so there's something for everybody and I can't say that I've ever been disappointed. The only challenge is getting a reservation -- plan ahead because the tables fill quickly!

Just an amazing lunch/dinner. I am always thrilled when Mickey comes out and tells us we won’t be needing our menus!! And Bill is just phenomenal at knowing just what our tastes are! Great place. Server may have been new. Took over 1.5 hours for lunch. Clams with white sauce need a bit of work to make the dish incredible. Bland salty water tasting, but pasta and calms cooked perfectly. Told server 2x and all she wanted to do was see if we could get a discount. I just want the dish to be more complex and have some identifiable flavor for the next person. Great wines

They forgot to put our food order in and it took over an hour and a half for our food to come, almost 2 hours. Our waitress just straight up ignored us for 45min before we got our food and no one came over to tells us what happened or to apologize until after our food came(manager came over to apologize after food came) Our waitress never apologized or mentioned anything about why it took so long. Also not saying we should have but would have been nice of them to comp at least some of our drinks or dessert for the long wait and forgetting to put our order in.
